Tip swelling is a common occurrence after undergoing rhinoplasty. Dr. Richard Reish explains why it happens and what are the useful methods for combatting tip swelling after rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty changes the shape of the nose by decreasing or increasing the size or changing the bridge or tip of the nose. Nose surgery also restores breathing function by removing nasal obstructions. Cosmetic rhinoplasty changes the nose’s appearance, and corrective rhinoplasty treats injuries from trauma. Nose surgery is only recommended after nasal cartilage reaches full growth, usually around 16 years of age. If one seeks cosmetic improvements to the nose and has nasal breathing problems, it is often better to address these at the same time. This is because cartilage is limited and is manipulated for both applications.

3 weeks post rhinoplasty and and one side of my nose is swollen bigger than the other making it look crooked 🥴😂 *UPDATE* It’s been one year and five months since I had my rhinoplasty done and three days ago I had a revision rhinoplasty. Turns out it wasn’t all swelling and I did not get the nose I was hoping for. I’m not trying to scare anyone I just think it’s fair to let people know it’s possible your nose might just not turn out the way you wanted.

Do you pay for them to correct what you’ve discussed but it didn’t turn out that way? I spent 11g CAN on my nose and drove two hours both ways for every appointment. This is has been wayyyy more costly than anticipated.

It can take a very long time to resolve, especially when the skin is thick.

Does it go away after two years or still longer? My tip is currently fat and oily, I am 6 months post op and it makes my nose look bigger!

@@Valentina-Steinway tell me about it...I honestly would have never done it if I knew it takes that long...if I take a hot shower or if I'm in the sun it will also swell then come back down in a day or so...I honestly thought by 9 months I would be healed, but that's rarely the case

So my rhinoplasty was 2 weeks ago and my tip still looks super fat and swollen which I honestly wasn’t prepared for Iv been panicking that they botched my nose 😭 I’m on RU-vid looking at videos hoping to find people who have had badly swollen tips for weeks hoping for a bit of reassurance really 😂 my nose looks super ugly atm !!

Hey ! I’ve had rhinoplasty 1 month and 2 days ago. The swelling definitely goes down more when you hit 4 weeks but it is still swollen. I recommend not looking at your nose so much. Taping it really helps with both anxiety and snatching the nose while also massaging the nose.

And just so you know even when the swelling goes down, when you cry or eat salty food or sleep on your side or bump your nose or if you have allergies, it will swell again which is completely normal.

I'm a year post op after rhinoplasty septoplasty and my tip is still sensitive and still looks round... I do have thick skin and was told I wasnt going to get that really defined tip. But something just doesnt look right...I told my doc i was concerned with a collapse on one side which makes my nose look indented and he disregarded my concern with a " its normal no nose is symmetrical". I also got 2 cortisone injections on the bridge of my nose which left 2 small indents so now I look like I have a tiny bump in between....I'm so upset and frustrated because I feel like my surgeon is not very informative and doesnt listen to my complaints...I dont know if I should go elsewhere

It sounds like you have legitimate concerns. If it has been a year and you are not happy you should seek out another opinion with a rhinoplasty specialist who will listen and care!

Yeah, this is where I’m at right now. I’m day 10-11 after surgery, barely any congestion and the bones are definitely still healing because the center of my nose feels a little “off” My tip and columella are looking kind of big/hanging low which is frustrating because the rest of my nose clearly is more defined. I just hope it doesn’t get worse

I have a bulbous tip and my nose looks very clown like , not mentioning I took pics immediately after getting my cast off and I wanted to burst into tears. 😔 it’s just a matter of time hang in there I’m on day 6

Sir its been 4 months of my surgery,much swelling gone,but swelling is left on tip, swelling is like,after whole day when i go to sleep i feel swelling at tip is less, but every morning my nose tip is look like swollen then night...

A week is way too early to go back to the gym based on the information I’ve seen from many reputable doctors. Routinely giving steroids shots is not good either.

Hey doctor! I love your channel. I had rhinoplasty in 2018 . The left side of the tip of my nose had this hard triangle on the side. I just got that part revised and they took the triangle off but now that side of the tip of my nose has a circle and kind of looks the same. Do you think the swelling will go down? It's been 9 days since I got that part revised . My doctor doesn't want to do ketalog shots

The first step is to realize that 1 week is still very early in the recovery process. The next step is to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. Presumably, you selected your surgeon because you trusted him/her and it is best to go back to that surgeon to address initial concerns. Good luck.

i have a thick skin and had my second nosejob(first one was dns surgery so it wasnt nosejob)i am currently not happy with the shape of my nose as the the side profile is still hooked and not nice,you know any doctor in toronto canada who would do kenalog injection as i had my nose done in another country..its been an year since my nosejob

You can go to a dermatologist or Bellair Laser Clinic in Yorkville, Toronto does steroid shots too. The steroid is called Kenalog and you should go for Kenalog 10 because its not as strong - be careful with steroids they can leave dents in your nose if you do much or too strong.

I’m two months and 12 days post surgery i see a changes and reduction of swelling but my tip is still so tinder and swollen I’ll keep taping my nose for next 20 is there anything else I should do ( I want my tip to come down and i have a small alar i want it to get larger)

At this point you should discuss with your surgeon the possibility of steroid injections to the supratip area and massaging the area in a manner that helps promote lymphatic drainage. The swelling, depending on your skin thickness can take a year or more to completely resolve.

Reading comments watching videos after 6months op.. one day nose gross the next day lil relax again and again happening and my tip is very stiff .. as i started gym after three months.. so what should need to know a very long wait to see results??aint it funny thou!patience the rest in hell scenario… we need to wait longer years to show up results as what i desired dr dind do ..

hello i had deviated septum because of that my nose tip was tilted towards my left i got operated for septorhinoplasty on 4th july 2024 its been more than two weeks but still i can see my nose is still tilted to my left and its making me feel very anxious as my whole purpose of doing rhinoplasty was my deviated nose tip and its still the same . kindly help.

@@sinbin_36 my surgeon told me it’s normal to have asymmetrical swelling. If you sleep on one side that could also affect it. Patience is key 🙏

It depends on the types of activities that will be performed in the gym and the risk of trauma to the nose. From a bleeding perspective, one week is typically enough.

@@drgarylinkov Come on, you should absolutely specify that only something like light walking on the treadmill is ok, and not heavy lifting or vigorous activity. From this video, if I didn't know better, I'd be at the gym now doing my lifting and sprints again... Not good.

I had a Septorhinoplasty with cartilage extraction from rib cage to be used as new septum 3 weeks post op couldn’t be happier paid 2k tip is still swollen but that’s to be expected
