I have benefitted from so many how-to videos over the years I figured it's time for me to post one.
I have spent untold hours looking for a how-to video on how to fix or conceal the kind of scuff marks and scratches I have on my new/used car interior plastic parts. The only thing I found are videos using a heat gun. I tried that but it doesn't work very well on the kind of scratches and scuff marks I'm dealing with. Too easy to melt the plastic and make it look worse.
Today I decided on something new that I thought may work. I thought I'd try to paint over them with black semi-gloss enamel spray paint. But, instead of spraying it directly on the plastic I chose to apply it like a stain. I just sprayed some paint on a cloth and rubbed it on the plastic like I would a stain on wood. It worked GREAT!
Of course, you would pick a color that matches your car's interior plastic. I used a black semi-gloss enamel and it matched perfectly. The great thing about this process is it's permanent. Now it's not really getting rid of the scratches and scuff marks but since they are mostly superficial, you really can't see them unless your nose is right up on them.
Quick and easy. It's not totally perfect but it's certainly much, much better.
