2 years late but just wanted to thank you so much. I'm creating some just for fun gaming videos and thought my collection of ps3 games would never be able to be captured. Your walkthrough worked perfectly instantly. Thank you so much.
I found this video very helpful. Thank you for your time and effort and I might buy the splitter, and I might not. Who knows with this funky thing called life. The End
Hello! I have an Avermedia live mini and I would like to be able to record ICO and Sotc gameplays on Ps3 to later edit and upload to youtube. From what I see this splitter is quite reliable to avoid the HDCP signal, my only doubt is that I am from Europe (Spain) and I would like to know if I would need a power adapter when buying this product or not. I'm not sure if it would be necessary at all.
Hello, I just bought a HDMI Splitter and I'm having some problems: at first I managed to record Gameplays but with no audio and no I can only record the PS3 main menu, ever time it goes to the Game I get a black screen, what am I doing wrong? Everything is plugged in in the right order.
Hey Thunder I had followed the steps and I'm not getting any audio in my games whatsoever. I do get audio during the menu screen of the PS3 but no game audio
hope you can help me out man but, when i'm on the ps3 menu everything is working fine and as well with some games. but when i try to play sonic adventure 2 i get no video but the audio is fine
What’s the point of the splitter? Can’t you just run the hdmi from the console to the capture card input, and the capture cards output to the tv(monitor)?
The PS3 is HDCP-compliant. Most capture cards (like the Elgato seen here) can't display the signal due to the HDCP restrictions. The splitter essentially cancels out the HDCP compliance, meaning that what the Elgato receives is similar to a direct signal.
For those interested, I do not think this works anymore. At least not with this splitter. From what I have heard, ps3 made some updates that killed this technique.
Not true. There have been no changes to the PS3 in regards to HDCP. Its possible that the Splitter itself may have been updated which no longer strips HDCP, but I cannot confirm this.
@jaftymate6392Also here to confirm this, I bought two different types of this HDMI splitter and it didn’t work at all. It displays video on the TV from the PS3 but not into the Elgato from the splitter itself.
That simple eh? Okay, I'm getting one of those myself. I'm getting sick of the recording component on my PS3, though more so because it's more aggravating to get it setup and less so about the quality.
It can depend on the brand, but this Orei that I've been using has done the job perfectly. If you see the ViewHD available at a cheaper price, that should work too. The Orei I'm pretty sure is just a reskin of that, they have the same form factor.
