I actually do these exact stretches for this exact issue. IT guy with a weak core, poor posture and over time my right leg shortened and caused all sorts of lower and mid back pain. Doing these stretches and many more, working out my core, glutes and slow jogging has help immensely! Thank you for the information.

Iv been doing all sorts of stretches, but the pinch feeling on the inside of the hip from the right seating area won’t go away, which caused lower back pain, fatigue every morning, unleveled hips, one leg is longer, even my MCl pain lasted for 3 months now, with sense of tightness in the ligament. This whole thing was caused by an injury, fell in a weird position. Always a weird feeling in the right buttocks when walking. And after doing these stretches only Once!!! Everything went back to its place!! Herd a popping sound lool Unbelievable. That pinch sensation is gone !! I feel more balanced while walking Thank you soooo much so simple and beneficial !!

I can't thank you enough👍 I have been doing your exercises (pelvic, intercostal neuritis, forward head posture and unhunch) for two months now. I was diagnosed with spondylitis (pinched nerve) in T12 L1 and with cervical and lumbar stenosis. At first the nerve pain was all consuming and I noticed my hips were way off balance too and my spine was curving to left putting pressure on left rib cage, heart and stomach. I've come a long way. Almost there 😄 Ty! I love you 💚💛💜

Hi Dr Mandell, I followed your advise and consulted a chiropractor here in Germany. My pelvis was laterally tilted and SI joint was also affected. Now I am feeling almost as good as new. My right leg/ hip that was always painful and I guess hyper mobile is relaxed and painless despite the still tight muscles at the hip area and back, and the other leg that was shorter, now the muscles are tightening especially TFL and the IT band causing pain on my knee and ankle. I dont know if this is normal. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, its been 5 weeks since I started watching your videos, especialy with upright posture, stretching muscles around shoulder and neck, my tinitus is gone and hope never to retun. You have changed my life and you did it freely. God bless you and everything you do.

@lilyrose2945 7 лет назад
Hi Anna Stazia, I am really sorry about your tinnitus. Although I have over 90% improvement since I started watching and practicing Dr Mandell´s self healing videos, my tinnitus comes back at times when my shoulder and neck muscles are not relaxed. I was living in really terrible hip, back, shoulder, arm and neck pain, sometimes headaches and ofcourse 24/7 tinnitus. Although my jaw never pained, the muscles around my chicks extending to the ear were very hard and painful, all this affecting my right side only. First I consulted a chiropractor who adjusted the misalignments...then my physiotherapist worked thoroughly on my achy muscles, my whole body needed it. After that I purchased a theracane which I use regularly to loosen hardened muscles around my upper back and shoulders. I work atleast 3 times a week on strenghthening my neck muscles by doing chin tucks, neck stretches, strengthen my shoulders, glutes and also my entire body. I have tried most of Dr Mandell´s videos about posture and they have worked wonders for me. I dont know the cause of your tinnitus but mine I think was due to misalignment and poor posture. I have more than 4 months since I swallowed a pain relief medication due muscle pain! So much has changed in my life.. please share with me what you think are the causes of your tinnitus. Consult an Osteopath or a chiropractor if you havent. I hope I could help you in one way or the other. All the best in fighting your tinnitus.

Sadly most of the people who have tightness are in fact have just weak hips and the weakness causes tightness and these stretches are gonne make your problem worse so please if you have like lower back pain or you feel like you have one leg shorter than the other leg you may have weak hips so stretching will give temporary relief so u need to strengthen your hips not stretching them

The problem seems to form gradually by wrong habits and using the dominant hand and foot more often. Some people are left hand & left foot, some are left hand but right foot. All create different kinds of pelvic imbalance. Thank you Dr Mandell for bringing the problem to the spotlight; a serious problem that seems to be a taboo because I have never seen an elderly pass a test for Pelvic Imbalance and no doctor talks about it. God knows how many elderly people fall and suffer from hip fractures while 50% of them dying perhaps Pelvic Imbalance plays an important role for the fall to happen. You are a hero doctor.

And as you showed in your video that one lower or middle side of the body little bit inner. So, Sir my question, is what problems actually i am suffering in my pelvis and am I able to do these exercises with my slept discs? Will it help to recover my discs? There is a high level of confidence that placing a heel platform under one leg (creating a lab induced long leg) forces the ipsilateral innominate bone to rotate anteriorly which functionally shortens the leg (I cited a number of original research papers that all came to this same conclusion). However, an anteriorly rotated innominate bone is a symptom and the question is, standing, what forces the innominate bone to rotate anteriorly (walking both innominate bones rotate around their sagital plane.). This is what I believe to be the etiology of an ascending short leg syndrome based on several of my research projects (below cited): Two abnormal genetically inherited foot structures (the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity and Rothbarts Foot) force the feet to abnormally (gravity drive) pronate during ambulation (Rothbart 1988, 2002, 2006): Abnormal foot pronation drives the innominate bones anteriorly (1988, 2002, 2006). The more anteriorly rotated innominate bone being ipsilateral (same side) as the more pronated foot (2006). Anterior rotation of the innominate bone displaces its' acetabulum cephalad and posteriorly (Rothbart 2006). This functionally shortens both legs and hyperextends both knees. The resulting functional short leg being ipsilateral to the more anteriorly displaced innominate bone. I view the anteriorly rotated innominate bones as one pathomechanical event in a series of pathomechanical events, initiated by an abnormal inherited foot structure. I see this Short Leg Sydrome as one of the sequelae associated with the Ascending Postural Distortion Pattern. You can read more about this Distortion Pattern on my research website (www.IARPT.com). I must mention that your words in the beginning, 'This is a vey important video', could not hold more truth to me. I have done two sessions of the three stretches, doubling up one time, and I feel a freeing up of my hip and lower back, and a easing up of the discomfort while walking and standing. I have had pain in the lower back and right hip for a decade and these stretches have given me the most relief naturally. Occasionally, I have taken Aleve, or Ibuprofen to seek relief but I am a person who doesn't care to take any medications--rather deemed somewhat safe or not, and I have rarely taken more than a dose of these anti-inflammatories in a week's time. I have done fitness rollers and other stretches (including the second one, alone, in your series of three). None of it has given me the relief that the three of these stretches in proper succession do. I greatly appreciate you posting this video, Doctor.

Ditto. The guy I went to was nice but wanted to do nearly $1700 worth of work over the course of several months. He said that I needed to do some stretching of my hamstrings but didn't tell me what kinds. The price and him not giving me detailed instructions of the stretches I needed to do. With that in mind I had to cancel a follow up and look into the stretches myself. Nice people but I didn't care for neglecting to tell me what to do in favor of me reliant on the many many adjustments.

I have had this hip clicking problem for quite some time - about 4 years. But because I was a little child I never used to follow these stretching videos because the click was not that painful and never used to bother me that much. Now that i see that my back view is slighty imbalanced, i have been following your stretches for 1 week - How long do you think I should do these stretches before my back becomes normal and the clicking goes away?

On my right side its about an inch shorter than my left side. It was cause from a broken leg and it healed shorter. So I wear a shoe lift. ... But I feel it does not help, and I have difficulty exercising in the gym. I want to keep my stomach and body tune but don't know what types of exercises to do. *WHAT ARE YOUR SUGGESTIONS?*

Hi Dr Mandell, I got interested to write you after watching your video "How to Correct Pelvic Imbalance and uneven Hips at Home, July 1, 2016". I have visibly unequal legs' length (right leg is a bit shorter & smaller than the left one, but unknown how much inch shorter & smaller) since my birth (as Mom-Dad told) that which I came to know just a year back called LLD. And only since 4 years ago (not before that), I am suffering with severe lower back pain. I consulted Dr and they suggested for MRI which I did. I think Dr did not noticed my legs' inequality as I also forgot to mention it. Seeing the MRI reports, the Dr said as what I roughly understood is, I have problem of bone disorder, disc slip, nerve compression etc. I can not sit, walk or stand still for longer time. The lower back pains a lot with burning /inflammation (as if hot chilly applied) sensation as well. It would be a great help if you can suggest me that I should follow the exercise instructed in this video or something else new specific exercise and medication that I need. Please help me overcome from this illness. You can either send me suitable / useful links of videos, if available, for my problem in my email; bhante.vijayadhamma@gmail.com Thanking you SUKHO KUMAR KARBARY, 35 Yrs, Male

A year ago while @ work i suddenly felt a back spasm as i moved up from a squad position. I kept working thru the pain and said to myself " this will go away quick". Half an hour later i could barely walk. Went to the hospital and after waiting hours they just gave me over the counter pills...😑..went back home and seeing my hips one side and my stomach the other reminded me of my mortality...after barely being able to walk and youtube this channel and god did i applied these stretches. Felt a slight relief, kept doing it for days and got back on my feet...today while working out I'm re twisted my pelvis...so guess what time it is...thanks to this Dr. I feel i'll be just fine...let it beging.💪

Thank you!!! I have a previous injury from a fall to my left hip, knee and ankle - which meant I was on crutches and weight bearing more on right side - obviously now my right knee is the tricky one and recently been experiencing hip tightness and pain as if the joint wasn’t sitting right. These have helped a lot and although my right hip hasn’t popped - the left one does every time I stretch - I can feel the muscle tightness and know that’s the issue for the imbalance I was feeling! Thanks again!

My left side of my body is tighter than my right. I was also told by a chiropractor my left leg is shorter. I have gluteal adhesions, tightness and pain when I walk mostly on the left. I'm working on it. I walk cockeyed . Also working on that as well. Should I get a Lift for my left shoe? Should I walk in the home with one flip-flop on my left foot? Im doing just that today to see if a shoe lift would decrease the pain..I already stretch everyday and it's getting better slowly.

Thank you so much for this video! My back has been so bad the last few days I couldn’t stand up straight but instead sagged far to the left. My physiotherapist insisted it was poor core strength and told me NOT to stretch my ham strings but to work through it. But I knew that couldn’t be right! Doing just these exercises has improved it so much I can stand up straight again. I will do them regularly for the rest of my life as I don’t ever want it to get that bad again. Thank you!

GladiatorFightingChampionship No, always do the same amount on both sides, and let them even out over time, or else it might create a new imbalance. If one side is way tighter, do it just as long as the other side until both sides are equally loose. Just like exercising - do each side equally, and they will match up over time. However, don't increase the intensity of the stretch on the leg that is the most loose, try to strtech them the same amount.
@will9092
@will9092 6 лет назад
Do not do the same amout do a 2:1 ratio on the tighter side. I read this on stretch to win book the goal is to be balanced once it is balanced then you do the same.

Great video on hip exercises! Yesterday my hip was hurting badly out of the blue. I was doing the exercise that has you sitting down on the table and folding one leg, bending toward the Ankle. I noticed that one knee is kind of flat, but the left knee, {which is on the side that is on the weak side hip} is much higher and less flexible as the right knee. Headed to PT with this info. Thanks again!!

Hi Dr Mandell, thank you for your amazing advice. I am a registered nurse and I have had 2 frozen shoulders over the last 4 years. When I got the second one I was devastated. It is so painful and debilitating and my first shoulder still hadn't recovered. I felt so depressed, then I found you!! Everything you said matched what my doctor, physio and pain psych said. As you can guess I ended up with all kinds of other problems in my back, hips, legs, neck...even my eyes! All because of 4 years of not being able to use my shoulders. Every time I had a new problem you had the answer. Now I am nearly 100% better and I am planning to be even stronger than before. Thankyou sooo much, I feel confident that I can heal my aches and pains...I am not on any medications. You really are the best xxx

Thanks for the info. I had 2 back surgeries I had my S1 L3 & L4 fused together. It failed due to scar tissue forming on the nerves. So I was able to stand up straight again but the pain running down the backs of my legs was still there and worse. My second back surgery I had half of the hardware removed. Still. Nothing pain returned. So I had a procedure to fix my sacarelack ?? The doctor used very hot water called oblation. Nothing seemed to help. Even the oblation. In my search for pain relief and mobility I discover that all my leg pains were not all from my lower spin. The back doctors never looked at mt knees. Guess what I had no cartilage left in either knee so I required total knee replacement on both. My gate or walking pattern had changed now I was walking straight. I noticed every once in awhile both my hips began to hurt when walking. Off to the knee doctor he X-rayed my hips and said not issues there. He told me I needed to do hip flexor exercises to help stretch out the ligaments from the new knees are pulling down causing these extreme pains in both hips. Therefore I am going to try these exercises to see if they eliminate the hip pains. Thank you

Hi many years ago a friend told me to do this exercise and he said it realigns the spine. Lay on floor pull your knees up wrapping your arms around them and rock back and forth-like a rocking horse for a little bit of time. If he told me I long forgot but I do this stopping when I feel like it. Does it align the spine, I don't know but at least I am giving my body exercise. Amazing how the body can help ease pain when we do simple exercises. Why do we have time for everything else but no time for our body?

@@jodelect9076 Wow I didn't know things like that happen. My son told me about "Sound healing is the practice of using audio tones and vibrational frequencies to repair damaged tissues and cells within the body. ... I've had a lower back/hip problem for over THREE YEARS now and only started recovering from looking at videos from this man. Getting massages, taking ibuprofen and panadol for pain relief, only gave me temporary relief at best. Stretches have been the best remedy. Some chiropractic, some osteopathic, some Pilates based. Most of your exercises have coincidentally fallen within one of those three categories, but they have been totally on point as far as I am concerned. I will never forget how your videos have helped me on the road to recovery. I'm not totally fixed, but I am so much improved from where I was three years ago. And that is largely down to you and your vids. And you give the physiological explanations brilliantly as well. I've said it before and I'll say it again....you're a G.

If I move a certain way, my right hip joint tries to dislocate, which is extremely painful, though short lived. Watching your video I now see why. I lay on a flat floor with a spirit level across my hips, and my right hip bone is half a bubble higher than the left (and right leg appears shorter).Watching your demo, I see that lifts the joint to the front, making it easier for it to try and come out, it feels like it kind of jams on the socket edge, then goes back in (I have the loose ligament condition). Will give your exercises a good go, and hope it solves it. Thanks for the wonderfully clear demos, including the skeleton
