21-something years ago a friend invited me to his house to show me "the new ReBirth thingy". it was one of the biggest WOWs of my life. After all these years of exploring Reason far and wide, a video of a minor update to a single device still manages to make me say WOW and I have to force myself to watch the video to the end, because the urge to launch Reason and make music is too strong.
Even though i "only" use the rack, it is still my favorite VST device... i use it in every song on multiple tracks, for melody ideas as well as actual instruments and effect processing. I have to commend the excellent videos of Ryan. Funny and full of interesting ideas. I have the urge to immediatly get producing right after watching one of these ...
And this video is so epic on so many levels. The way you explain everything is so precise and your knowledge on reason and music is just so deep and never ending! Talk about experienced!
Shift CV is cool, glad that you guys are finally getting some balls and adding tweakability to unexpected parameters just like Bitwig does it. Let's keep it going.
Hopefully Reason Studios lets that Bassist they trapped inside the Player out for a lunch break every now and again!! Thanks Ryan! Awesome guide for the new update!
This update is a game changer. I have been using this with the update for a few hours now and revisiting many of my past songs. Thank you Reason Studios!!
Awesome, Ryan. You guys are always creating tools in a cool daemonic way. It’s the best way to create music and, above all, to break one’s logic and be able to make new rules 😂💚🔥
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Ryan explained "Minorness" to a degree! Excellent update.. So good.. So good.. Will add this to the beta testing!!
What a great update. Having recently picked up Robotic Bean's Euclidian Rhythm Generator (not the player) and TM-1, I can see some of the influences with the shift and root note CVs. The A/B bank opens opens up even more banks (C, D, etc.) in the future too, so nice expansion option. This will be fun.
I must admit I haven't been a big fan of using the cv cabling suctions. But after this video, you have finally convinced me to experiment more with this function. Which I see I'm actually limiting my creative possibilities. Thank you Sir for helping me see the light...lol.
the part where you talk about beat juggling with BLG, I used it few weeks ago on a song I released hahahaha !!! it's funny how I had this crazy Idea the same way !!! but I think it's normal with a lot of years using Reason, we develop a certain way of doing things differently !!!
Love that pad! I worry that the "B bank" doesn't present enough of a unique difference for users to know when they should use it. I get that extending the A bank patterns would mess with the resolution of the pattern selection grid, but unless I have a reason to select bank B, it feels a bit arbitrary. Either way, love player devices in general and happy bassline generator is getting love.
Add lock individual notes in the sequence ..and we can randomise the rest ...and am i missing where the rotate pattern left and right is ? ....Add that as well. Thanks for the video ..big love.
Ryan, another great video. Thanks! Would love to see the option for Chord Numbers as well as names in the sequencer. So we can experiment with classic sequences with a twist. Currently we have to do some work to convert from names to numbers if we want to work that way.
Thanks for all your great tutorials. I wish the could put a Cv ot to Cv i button on the front instead of having to do all that cable routing. Also for all the people who are like me a litte visually inpaired . You can use a long hdmi cable and link to your big screen tv and l just discovered Windows magnifier in the Google extentions thst will help you read sll the fine print details on he computer screen. Good for the fine print in Daws and and anything else. They are all Free to use. also uee the Speak It extention to read wed text to me.
I'm unsure about the process of assembling this 'Combinator' to extend a 7-minute video to 8 minutes. Could you provide a detailed, step-by-step explanation, or share a link to access this 'Combinator'?
Yeah Henrik is right with his comment. The sample slices are being triggered by Bassline Generator. What I'm doing with the controller is that I've assigned my two faders on the keyboard to control the two knobs on the combinator. Those knobs control two different parameters. One parameter is the Roll fader on The Echo delay effect and the other parameter is the Root Note setting on Bassline Generator. By adjusting the root note of Bassline Generator, I'm offsetting what notes (and therefore what sample slices) are being triggered on the Mimic sampler. Hope some of that makes sense!
Bassline generater is good but I have never had any problems making basslines in Reason, it's very very easy for Me and always has been. EDIT Ryan makes Me want to buy it.
The restriction of V1 was no easy movement on chords. V2 doesn't really solve it unless you are using a chord generator. I want to input a chord/root sequence independently so it can follow ANY music I make.
