Hello everyone!, In this video I want to show you how to create Favorites so you can launch your pattern sequences as a DJ would during a set. Please check it out and I hope it helps you out! Take care, -Ed. www.rolandus.co...
Thanks Ed, I was play with the band last night using the JD-Xi, I noted it's hard to read the button labels and navigating in a low light situation is hard (old eyes). Setting up favorites may be the way to go. Very timely, thanks again. Keep them coming and tell Roland your one of the reason I buy Roland!
Is there a option to play all favotires randomly or in a specific order automatically? So you could create a complex drumpattern, whils you're jamming the synth?
Hello Ed Diaz, my name is Ace Bizerk and I own the A-Pro 300, JD-Xi, and MC-707. I have watched your videos and thank you for making them. I felt like since I have these same devices that it would be good to reach out and say hello. There are some areas that I could use some advice on like mapping the A-Pro for the MC-707. Embarrassing as it is I could also use some help setting up the initial parameters for using RPN/NRPN messeges. Somehow I still do not have a good understanding of how to set the null controllers and utilizing these types of MIDI messeges. I got some of the maps for the JD-XI off of the Roland Clan Forum that have Sysex messages. RPN'S are not mapped but described which ones work with the JD-Xi. However, since I don't know how to set up RPN's I have not been able to use them. This I am really wanting to figure out so I can make maps for the MC-707 which seems to have much smaller midi implementation Rx parameters. Thank you so much for your time and all the help you have already provided. Aaron (Ace Bizerk, ZoomFutureProductions, and Glass Pane Studio)
Ed, you are amazing and this past week I have been watching ALL of the available videos on the JD XI, because my birthday is this coming Monday 22nd and will be buying the synth for myself. I live in Dallas and John M ( keyboard guy ) at Sam Ash is selling me mine. Super excited. I haven't had a hardware synth since around 1987-88. One question though, I have not seen anywhere, where you can play a pad or synth sound and the tail of the sound not be cut off in the pattern. Any help with this work around would be great, otherwise thank you for your time on making these videos.. :)
Hi Ed. I have a question, maybe too elementary: I know we can save the programs BUT, is there a way to save only the sounds as favorites? When I play live with the band I need a way to recall my favorite sounds, so it's very important for me. Thanks! (Sorry about my english, I'm from Colombia)
Hi, I think what you do is put 4 of your favourite sounds in a program and save that program(write) on either E, F, G or H which are empty and then store the program in favourites.
Hi Master Ed - I have a JD-Xi and bought it thanks to your videos. I have ONE QUESTION though: Can I make my own key-set? I mean can I program each white and black key of the keyboard to include all the percussion sounds I wanna have? I would then have all 32 keys with sounds that I choose from the different drum sets and sounds. Would be great if you could get back to me on that! Thanks Ed!!!
I created a few variatons of a program and saved them into different banks like you did here. They change up seamlessly when switching between the favorits. However when I then tried sequencing these changes live using a hardware sequencer, it worked, but It seems there is a mili-second of delay when change occurs from one pattern to the next (i.e. this 'delay' occurs when I play it back through the sequencer). Is there a reason for/solution to this delay.. is it just 'midi-delay'? Thanks.
Hi Ed.. my problem is the following.. I have a song that is saved into several favorites slots like you have shown us here. However, I need to play a 'legato style' synth lead that overlaps between two programs. However, the synth cuts out as soon as the program change occurs.. Is there anything I can do??
So how do you save SOUNDS and not programs/sequences? I just want to create a sound and be able to refer to it quickly in a gig - honestly doesn't seem possible for a synthesizer? What's the point of being able to create and alter the sound if you can't even save it? So disappointed w this keyboard to be honest going to sell it probably.
Hi Ed! Buddy, may I use Live Recording with metronome click but hearing that only on Phones Output? I tried to find this on settings, but I didn't find. Could I edit where the click goes out? Because it looks bad when I start to record a live
