Thanks Nelson for this video, really helpful. I agree with you 1000 actions may make memorisation and review more complicated as they can look very similar. Good to see 8 digits can be encoded with this techniques. I am still at 6 but will be considering such system in future to scale it up. Cheers.

@Seeker of Hidayah well having a variety of possible routes to a peg code isn't a bad idea. I don't actually use Dominique system myself. Actually vowel sounds from Ben system is a more integrated way to expand. But if you happen to already know pegs from the Dominique system there's no reason not to use them.

I believe that those interested in #'s should at least have 1000+ people as Nelson stated(add 3 digit actions and objects later). It makes memorizing US phone numbers easier(at least for me). For example, a phone number starting with the number he used -- 357 - 5216 would be MLK-leg lifting an EZ curl bar. Easy image to remember that phone #. If I tried to break it up in 2's, it would be 35-75-21-6. The hanging digit(6) would just be a number image. However, I find that using all 2's is diffifult, at least on the fly when someone gives you their # and you need to memorize it quickly. I actually have a 1k PAO myself..yes, it is work, but like Nelson stated, once you got it, it's for life. - JF

Hi Nellson! I have, most of my knowledge from books. iIs great to see somebody who is talking about memory techniques and is truley into them. I don't know why some people are not fascinated about this piece of software you can build and install in to your brain :-) Is just unbelievable. Just quick question you said that top memorizers are using only 2 images per location? What is the reason ? Currently I'm building something like Environment + Adjective + PAO. In my system 6 is a letter J so it can confuse you but is something like this: Example 63: On JaMaica, JaMaican, Jim Morrison, is JaMming, with JaM And at the end this person is sending you to next location. I tested this with 100 numbers and story line look like from interesting Movie :) I was in the same time linking it to the memory palace. So Im just cuorious why only 2 images ? Not more? Once again is great to listen you talking about memory techniques. :-)

I still would, yeah. I love my system. I honestly think it's the tits and wouldn't trade it for the world. A regular 3-digit system sounds boring to me (my opinion).

i am building a 3 digit memory system and need to talk about some ideas if possible its about categorizing parts of system example from 000 to 099 can belong to X category 100-199 Y category ... is it possible ? or is it better if each 3 digit number having its own image ? which is easier to recall ?

I was wondering.. you can solve a rubiks cube right? What kind of memory technique would you use for algorithm memorisation? I’m trying to learn 500. Mostly i need to link an algorith to a set of letters like AOS or SO, AS. For Adjacent Opposite and Same.

Hi Nelson, I just saw some videos from ae mind and i saw you playing in the memory league and I just wanted to ask how you memorize list of words. I know you put two pictures per locus but how do you that.For example you got the word elephant and balloon the good thing is you see them clearly in your memory palace but in the recall you got somewhat confuse in the order of the word instead of elephant and balloon you write balloon and elephant, how do you avoid this mistakes? Lastly what picture will you create if you got the word elephant and balloon and vice versa? any advice?
@NelsonDellis
@NelsonDellis 5 лет назад
I just try to remember the first word acting upon the second. Something I make a mistake but usually that works. If I got elephant balloon, I would picture an elephant stomping on a balloon and it goes POP. If it was reversed, I'd imagine a balloon floating along and picking up an elephant floating him into the sky. Something like that anyways...

@QUIINCUNX

I think there might be an easier way. I’m not sure. Correct me if I’m wrong. But say I wanted to use a PAO system for 1000 digit system. A person for 100th place, action for 10th place, and object for the unit place. That’s only 10 different people, actions, and objects. 30 things to memorize. I realize that with the same things being repeated over and over again could get confusing, but it isn’t the individual things, it’s the whole picture. And with those 30 things memorized, you could have 1000 different images. Does that make sense?
@NelsonDellis
@NelsonDellis 5 лет назад
At first I wasn't understanding what you meant, but on second read I do. What you are actually talking about is a 1-digit PAO system: 10 people for (0-9), 10 actions (0-9), and 10 objects (0-9). This is totally doable, but it's not very robust. You are right that the combinations will make them unique, but you will get so many repeats of complete sets and partial sets (over a large number) that it's hardly worth it. And one image only spans 3 digits. Already with a 2-digit PAO you're spanning 6 digits, and then eventually with a full-fledged 3-digit PAO, you're spanning 9-digits (meaning, for every 9 digits it's a completely unique image).
@francisblondin6862

It's a great system if you only want to remember numbers once a while and you don't want to invest too much time in the process. It's not that great if you want to compete and/or perform impressive feats.
@TheFlagMaster.
@TheFlagMaster. 2 года назад
@@NelsonDellis does anyone at the top level use a "fully-fledged" 3 digit PAO? i was under the impression for many years that it wasn't possible because of the difficulty of creating 1000 distinct actions, the closest i've ever seen is your 3-2-3 PAO.
@suppression2142
@suppression2142 Год назад
@@TheFlagMaster. there's like one person online that's creating a 10 thousand person action object pao I believe but I don't remember his name, I watched him years ago if he continued then he should have it done but hopefully he categorized it properly to maintain it in long term memory.

Could SOV in languages be used rather than PAO? How could you use this method to learn another language through Person Action Object or Subject Object Verb?
@cubealgs101
@cubealgs101 9 месяцев назад
yeah it would just be POA instead, if you are more comfortable thinking in SOV. idk how you could use it to learn another language but he does have a video on a linking system where you take the word that you are trying to learn, convert it to a mnemonic, then attach the object to the mnemonic. for example, milk in spanish is leche. you could imagine leeches crawling in and out of a milk carton to remember it
@Tabascosause
@Tabascosause 8 месяцев назад
@@cubealgs101 Thank you for the response. I've very new to all of this. So, with this concept. He uses 00-99 as categories. Such as Doctors, Actors, Presidents etc. so you would need 100 categories, and 9 people from each category? I apologize for the questions. I personally want to learn a lot. My father is developing Alzheimer's and keeping my mind healthy would be good for me. Hard to explain.
@cubealgs101
@cubealgs101 8 месяцев назад
@@Tabascosause no i totally understand. that is the system that nelson uses, yeah. i don’t like that system so i have been making a 3 digit major system instead. because i feel like pao could get very repetitive using the same action every 100 or so loci. i know you could make a bigger list of actions but that would be near impossible considering so many are the same action and you would have to either find one specific action for 1000 people or use a major system coding to find more. i like the freedom of major system because you can make the images interact however you want

Or you could just assign colors from 0-9.....then memorize the first digits from 00-99 with a distinct picture....357 for me is a maroon colored container leaking.....457....would be a red container leaking....458...red leaf....547...yellow rake made of banana peelings....so the last two digits don't keep changing rather the appearance....the color could be swapped for shapes...that way 357 would be a triangular leaking container...678 could be a hexagonal shaped handcuffs....or metals....with this 357 for me is a leaking container covered in mercury...897....is a vanadium covered bike...567...lithium covered juke box....

@ipitydafool3309

Basically you are mapping to a higher number base, similar to converting binary to hexadecimal, more symbols in hex, but more compact representation. Then taken to the extreme with 1000 people and 1000 actions and 1000 objects combine to form 1,000,000,000 unique symbols. Its like thinking in base 1,000,000,000. At first when I heard this "memory palace" stuff I was like, "Why make up some elaborate story to remember a number?" But now I see the utility, funny how its easier for a human brain to remember a person and action and object rather than a 9 digit decimal number. Its almost like a "meet in the middle" strategy for conquering memory tasks. Invest time at the outset in constructing and memorizing a system of symbols and when confronted with a memory task translate the more repetitive and expanded lower order number into a more compact higher order system. It just demonstrates how the brain is so much different than a computer, to a computer it doesn't matter the representation, its always going to be stored in binary and take up the same space. But the human brain finds it much easier to hold information as a small group of highly distinct symbols

@UmbraMoruka
@UmbraMoruka 4 года назад
doesn't matter how it spells? for example, the word "mirror" would be 344 or 3444?
@NelsonDellis
@NelsonDellis 4 года назад
For a word like MIRROR, ask yourself how many consonant sounds you hear: M, R, and R again at the end. The middle double R is just one consonant sound. So it’s just 3 numbers 344. For 3444 you’d have to have a word with an M sound followed by 3 separate R consonant sounds. I can’t think of any words but for the sake of example, MIRRORER would be 3444
