I used to get so frustrated when I was learning because I had to watch so much extra stuff. My videos don't make everyone happy, but I'll continue to try to keep it simple!
I really like how you presented this pattern. You made it very easy to understand. I know I’m 3 years late to the party. I’ve already started 2 scarves thanks to your easy to follow video. Thanks!!!
Thank you for your direct approach. So many other videos talk about the yarn, explain how to do a slip knot, or ramble on... which is fine for those who enjoy that. But I find myself fast forwarding to get to the point. Your style is refreshingly to the point.
Agreed! I dislike sitting thru 30 min long videos of the person doing the actual whole project which has the same stitch over and over. Love your to the point approach!
Love your style of teaching. I’ve been looking for bib bandana patterns for my three month old grandson and realize it’s just a mini triangle shawl!! Thanks for your tutorial, his bib bandana came out so cute😀
Love love this pattern! I’ve been crocheting for many years (self taught from manuals BC U-tube). Been few years since I’ve done project and wanted a fun and pretty project to get back into my grove. Your project checked all boxes for me! Pretty scarf, easy-breezy fun! Thanks!
Hi Courtney thank you for sharing this lovely scarf I'm half way through doing mine and I found it quick and easy to pick up from your tutorial I love the stitch Iv never done it before but will definitely use it again it's texture is so nice 😊Amanda xx
Thank you for doing this video. I do not understand why so many are complaining. Super easy to follow, love the pattern and you go at the right speed. Maybe those who have complained are not confident with their crocheting? Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Dont be discourage by these who have nothing else better to do. Cant wait to make mine.
Hi, i see just the two vids on your channel so, if you are new to posting vids, congratulations making it so good. I appreciate your direct approach, sans fluff. There are tons of videos detailing explanations of moss and seed and linen stitching, and scarves and wraps and shawls. Yours is right to the point... I'm hooked!
Yay! Thank you! When I was learning, I always wished we could just right into crocheting and skip over intros and extras. I hope get some more videos up soon!
great learning tutorial and the speed is just right ... for those persons just learning, you can tweek the settings icon on bottom of screen and slow the speed to your pace .... thanks for the tutorial
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! Short and sweet and to the point.. Other videos confuse me with all the talking and "back stories".. Im here to learn a stitch, and that's what happened. Thank you so much!
Finally got the pattern figured out! I had a hard time understanding the video at first. The yarn is so thin, it makes it difficult to tell where the chain 1 spaces were but once I got it down, it is very easy to understand. I just kept watching the video over and over until I got it. Thank you for uploading the video!
YAY! I'm glad you got it figured out! I just noticed that I said the wrong thing, but my hands did the right thing! This yarn is a bit thin. I usually work with size 5 or 6 yarn. It's so nice when it's worked up though!
+Ginger Knots Hello! When you mentioned here that you said the wrong thing, is it when you were saying chain one and you seemed like you were chaining two? I am relearning crochet again and am excited to make this project but am still learning to follow online tutorials. Thanks!
I've just fallen in love with this color! I've ordered it and I'll be making this project. I just wish you had spread it out so we could see how big it is.
Nice. I'm making a spring poncho using mandala yarn, I like how light and airy it's turning out to be. This project is going on the list too. Also, I like the pace of the video, quick & to the point 😃
Just started my shawl yesterday am half way done and it's looking beautiful. I did use a different yarn . I am using Lion Brand Heartland which is 4 ply not 3 but it's coming out gorgeous can't wait to finish it. I plan to make another one for a Christmas gift for my daughter. Your video was very helpful and just what I need it, thank you sooo much .
Love this video! I really like the way you started the project. I was having difficulty with another pattern that used the magic ring. I thought your pace was just perfect,( but a hint for those who think it's too fast: you can go to your RU-vid settings and change the playback speed - easy peasy!) Again, thank you for the great video and pattern!
You can also rewind and pause even fast forward on RU-vid! That's why I love looking up patterns on here rather than patterns saved, written r printed. Hank you!
Also able to speed up or slow (way) down if needed. That's what I love about it too! The complainers either don't know this or just want to be spoon fed everything. I just really appreciate that so many people post all of these wonderful and helpful tutorials, free!!
I have no clue why people are saying ur going too fast or don't understand. This is a great tutorial and you even wrote where to find the written pattern
Thank you! I think I'm going to be a bit more specific in the future about how speedy each video is going to be. I'm loving all the feedback though! It helps me get better!
Ginger Knots Slowing the video down doesn’t help. I can’t tell what stitches you are going into. I know it’s sc and ch 1. I can’t see my chain spaces to go into. Do you have any suggestions that may help me with this simplistic stitch I can’t seem to complete? I feel so silly seeing all the others that can do it. I want to make this scarf so bad and I’m stuck. Please help.... 💗
Write down the pattern as it is spoken, look up stitches you don’t understand. I tried that with a few tutorials and it works. Commit to finishing and RU-vid will guide you
Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern. It took a couple of goes, it was simply a matter of me identifying the chain one spaces as I believe someone else has mentioned. I'm using Style craft batik swirl and a 7 mm hook and its looking gorgeous.
I got a great start while watching this vid and decided to keep going from my swatch.... Im halfway finished on a red and second color grey w flecks stripe lil' number. I am working it up fast so as to get back to whatever it was I was going to do! Lol!
Thanks for the pattern! It's finally under control for me. There is one point early on where you tell us to chain one, but you don't do it. This caused some real issues on the base two rows. You might correct that at some point. I finally figured it out by watching your hands and not what you were saying.
I’m almost finished with mine and will share a photo when I’m done. One question- would you recommend finishing off the starting side with a single crochet edging? It’s looking just a little raw - like it needs a more finished look to it.
Hi there. I made this pattern and it was very easy to follow so thank you. But I do have a question - the example you make in the video has a lot of holes and so did mine so they looked identical. However the completed scarf you show at the beginning of the video looks nice and tight and the holes are barely visible. I'm wondering what you did to tighten it up and if it actually is a different stitch - to me who is still a beginner it looks completely different from the pattern you do in the video. Thanks so much, I would appreciate any tips since I'm planning on making this again, but less holey!
It's still holey! It's just zoomed out. If I were to pull on it, you'd be able to see the holes again. If you prefer to have smaller holes on your finished scarf, you may try going down a hook size. I prefer the bigger hook because the scarf drapes better at the end. I hope that is helpful!
I actually have been thinking about making this into a blanket! Rather than starting as a triangle, I would start as a square and work outward. Instead of just one point in the front, I'd make 4 points for corners.. Maybe I'll have to write that version of the pattern up!
I really love this scarf and understand the written and your video is just fine I only had one question the dc increase on the end ?Does this make the top edge have a curve? Was just wondering I love the moss Stitch
I went with a dc and chain 3 for the edge because I always feel like triangle shawls are too short and don't wrap around very well. I wanted it to be extra long so it would stay in place! If that isn't your jam, you could go with HDC! :)
I believe it finishes nearly 60 inches wide and 45 inches from neck to point, but don't quote me on that. It also depends a bit on your tension. I love this scarf because it only takes one cake! You might spend $5ish on materials and that's it!
As I'm working my scarf, it curls at the top where it is supposed to be flat. Is that a pattern flaw or am I doing something wrong lol I've tried working it over and over and keep having that curve
I believe so! I've seen many different types of self striping yarn used and people typically are using more than one cake to make them larger. I would suggest 2 or 3 to get a nice big shawl!
