If you have thick hair with lots of volume, this cut is a no brainer and takes no effort to style. I grew my hair long for the first time during the pandemic, and I came across this technique while browsing to find what to do with my hair. I tried it and loved it immediately! After years of coming out of salons dissatisfied, turns out the best cut for me is one I can do myself!
Hairdresser of 32 years here and you taught me something NEW! Thank you! I love the way you break down the thought process and do elevation and length at the same time.
I started doing this easy haircut during covid. It's great being able to save money and time. I have gone to the salon since, but ended up just re-cutting it with this technique :)
As a stylist of over 30. Yrs I love seeing these styles making a come back and thanks Paul for taking us as stylist to the next level of hair and making it so easy . Love that completely explain every about the cuts you bring our creative world .
That’s what I’ve been missing all these years…. The Paul experience of yanking a brush through my hair and then flipping me to do the shake lol. Actually I love your videos thanks for sharing and I love pony tail cuts I’ve been doing them for a while now with your help.
Thank you for all your videos! You changed my life with your wolf cut, I had never been able to find someone to cut that kind of layers in my hair. I can’t tell you how many compliments I get on my hair.
💝💯Stunning! Timeless style in reality. Thanks from uk Paul- Trained as hairdresser in 80s when alot these modern versions of these cuts were created (this one more in 70s farah fawcet), but great to see various ones seen your videos about, with modern twist! Where are you based, prefer male hairdressers over yrs! Thanks! Know you'll be helping alot women, who cant afford to go to salon. Mothers who hv to cut their teenagers hair! We appreciate your videos! ❤
Update: I just did this cut and it turned out beautifully!❤The perfect and easy cut for my long thick wavy hair, thank you! ❤. Thank you for explaining the "why"! It makes a huge difference in remembering details when you understand the "why". You're awesome ❤!
I think your videos are very helpful to new hairdressers AND to those of us who cut their own hair at home. You are a blessing to us all. Thank you bc you could be at your salon bringing in more income in various ways.
Absolutely adore ur aesthetic 😻 I've never had any Cosmo classes and do all the things to my own hair, from cut, dread extensions, dye, lift, deposit, ombre, wolf cut, etc etc. Your tutorials are now the *only* "suggestions" i seek out!!🎉 i def need to share u with my audience!!!❤ Ty ty ty😊
Thank you! I wanted to let you know that this was incredibly helpful! After having some bad experiences with other hairdressers, your video made it easy and the results were amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and helping me to achieve the look I was going for. Could you please create a video showing how to achieve the same haircut but with connected, face-framing bangs? Any tips for making the process foolproof/easy would be greatly appreciated!
Omg you gave me the spot, the position, I needed! I knew this cut years ago. But couldn't rmbr where to center it from. I need these layers badly now coz my hair has gotten so thin. This will add fullness. Thx.
Apparently, your salon experience is something to behold....and by that I mean survive...First, you get the cut and then you get the thinning via the maniacal brushing routine... I'm thinking you must also provide a neck brace instead of just a neck wrap. You, dear sir, are hilarious.
That is how my old hairdresser used to cut my hair. (Not that method though) Then she moved.😢 And other hairdressers don’t give me that balance of layers. Now I can recreate that same style all by-my-self 🎉😊.
Beautiful haircut! I have a lot of straight hair. Please tell me how could I do waves in this haircut, using de same ponytail. I'll would appreciate it.
Love the cut Will this method give you a v cut in the back I really dont like my hair cut into a v You didnt turn the mannequin's head around to see It looked absolutely beautiful
@paulwattshair Beautiful cut Paul! I was wondering...Ive heard that square layers are preferred for finer hair... is there a way to modify this cut (angle of holding hair /cutting?)to where the layers would be square? Thank you!!
Nice! How does this compare to the results you would get from the Manes by Mel pigtail cut if you put the pigtails right behind the ears in the middle of the head on each side?
@@PaulWattsHair , I’ve been doing the pigtail cut on myself, and you have a video of a similar cut using the two pigtails on the sides and the one on the fringe. What I like about the pigtail cut is that it’s layered but not chopped into-so the result is a smooth and gradual rounded, full shape. I thought that maybe the reason I like it is that it’s a stationary guide cut, and this pony tail cut is as well, so I thought I might like the pony tail cut too. I would love to see a video on how the shape comes out differently based on different placements of the pigtails on the sides of the head, if you are ever interested in doing that. This pony tail cut looks great on the mannequin! Thanks for the great videos. I’m one who can’t find a stylist I like so am trying to learn how to do my own hair finally at the age of 52. I’ve had one too many bad cuts.
Because your hair from the back has a longer distance to travel. It is wrapping around your whole head, starting from the neck, up to the occipital bone up and around the biggest part of your skull and still forward to the pony tail, if that makes sense... the sides have less to travel around just going softly up and around the sides to the ponytail. When the hair is in the ponytail, imagine the back section is shaped like a question mark and the sides are shaped like a parentheses. The question mark is a longer line than the parentheses... oh gosh I hope this makes sense!!! 😅
had similiar haircut in the past and after having ends cutted this way my hair were awfully bad in keeping in good terms, brushing them was awful, after cutting ends back normal way, they were easy to brush so no thx I like my hair being cooperative with me.
Yeah but I can't stand watching Brad mondo so i appreciate Paul's easy going tutorials MUCH more. Besides trends are stupid. Just do what you want and don't let your life be dictated by general opinion. So boring
Paul you’re amazing! How do I know how high to take the cut? If I don’t have that length and I cut it closer to the head would that give me a wolfy vibe? And what kind of curls do I do or do I just shake my head ? 💞💞💞
Love it, your funny. I think she has a little more advantage, so it definitely rocks! But I may have missed whether or not you mentioned if the hair was naturally wavy? Definitely saved this. ❤
Beautiful haircut! I have a lot of straight hair. Please tell me how could I do waves in this haircut, using de same ponytail. I'll would appreciate it.
Can you please show us how this haircut would look if you cut it shorter and shorter? Like this was after one inch, next another two and so on until your reach the ponytail. I am growing my hair out and want to just get the pony on top to be maybe 5 centimeters long to get short layers and I'm curious if it would look like I imagine it or not.
That’s fantastic & will work for fine curls/waves? Love it, Paul! Don’t know that I could reach it myself, but I’ll give it a go. Loved the wee music exit too 😂❤
