How to de-register and factory reset an Amazon Echo Show 5

In this video we take a look at how you factory reset an Amazon Echo Show 5. The reset sequence shown in this video will also work if you wish to factory reset either the Echo Show or an Echo Spot.
Please note that in order to de-register and factory reset your Amazon Echo Show 5. The device needs to be connected to the internet. If your Echo Show is not connected to the internet, it will not be able to automatically de-register itself from your Amazon account.

some of us don't have the email registered to the device. If the button hard reset cleared the user, wouldn't it be redundant to factory reset the device in the settings after?

So may I ask..I'm trading in my echo show 5. I deregistered from my account. Is that essentially the same as doing a factory reset? Or do I have to do a factory reset as in this video as well?

That is the same process, just done from the App rather than the Echo Show. 😀

The original account that it was logged into, is no longer active. When I try to do factory reset, it takes me straight to Amazon login which I cannot access. When I try to put in my new account, it reads "Please sign in with the currently active account" how do I manually reset this?

I think you will have to talk to Amazon support and they may not be much help unless you can remember the details for your in active account. Sorry.😔

Whenever I go to device options it just sends me back to the main screen

In the first instance try removing the power from the Echo show, waiting 15 seconds, and then powering it back up. If the Echo Show has become glitchy this might clear the problem. If that fails and you still cant access Device Options. The alternative method of factory resetting an Alexa device is to use the Alexa App. However, the Echo Show needs to be connected to the internet. If you: 1. Open the Alexa App 2. Select Devices 3. Choose Echo and Alexa 4. Locate and select your Echo Show from the list of devices 5. Scroll to the bottom of the list of settings and select Factory Reset Hope this helps

Unfortunately, no. This video shows you how to de-register the Echo Show 5 so that you can either sell or give it away. However, if you can get the original owner to de-registered the Show via their Amazon account. ie Amazon - Your Account - Manage Your Content and Devices - Devices You can then factory reset the Show, as seen in the video. This will then allow you to register the Show to your account.
