Since I started watching your videos I forgot about X, Netflix and Prime - it captivates me more 🙂. You just want to watch how it envelops and how it ends. It's all following clear no-nonsense logic and level of production is great. Like having a great teacher next to you - video instructions at it's best. And I do know many others...

What would you consider a good aftermarket brand for Toyota clutches? I know Aisin does provide a premium variant. So when you want to buy the Aisin brand you have two options. Is the premium variant more durable or more for aggressive driving styles, or something else?

Depends on the vehicle and the driver. If the vehicle is just a commuter vehicle and is driven normally, either the OEM clutch or equivalent aftermarket. I have had good luck with Aisen and Luk clutch kits. Generally with after market parts, there are varying levels of quality and price. I never buy the cheapest as they will work but never last as long as or be as good as OEM. Now if you're looking for a clutch that is better than OEM, unless you're getting into performance parts, I would stick with OEM. The only reason I would start looking at performance clutches is of you are modifying the original engine with more power than it originally had. Otherwise you will have a stiffer clutch pedal than normal and for no added benefit. Hope that helps. Thanks for the watch!

Do you have any videos about diagnosing a misfire? Or even what can cause a misfire?
@wayofthewrench
@wayofthewrench Год назад
Not specifically for misfires only but my spark plug wire video will be some great info on the most common misfires. A misfire is when a cylinder doesn't have a power stroke due to no fuel, no spark, no air, or no compression. Most of the time it is no spark or no fuel. When it's an older engine it's no compression. To check for no spark, you can do a power balance test ( in the video I mentioned) where you have the car running and pull off one spark plug wire or coil over plug connector at a time and see how it affects the engine. If it runs rougher, then it had spark. If it doesn't change, then that cylinder isn't getting a spark. For fuel misfires it will be the same test but disconnecting the fuel injector electrical plug. You can also use a mechanics stethoscope to listen for fuel injector ticking when it opens/closes. For compression, a compression test is required and all cylinders are compared. For air, check air filter and as long as its not caked with dirt/mud, it is generally ok. Usually misfires are logged as a check engine code as well so on most new cars, grab an obd2 scan tool to help figure out which cylinder(s) the misfire is at. Hope this helps and in the future I will definitely make this video....it would be a good one. Thanks for the watch!
