Aging without feeling old-isn’t that what we all want? By embracing the right lifestyle practices, it’s possible to get a new lease on life.
Emerging research is showing optimal health and graceful aging have just as much to do with when you eat as what you eat. We’ve been hearing a lot in the last couple years about intermittent fasting and time restricted eating, which many folks practice by avoiding meals earlier in the day and breaking their fast with a late lunch or large dinner.
My guest on today’s episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy, Dr. Michael Roizen, is here to share why science says late eating is not in our favor and how we can flip the script to make time restricted eating support optimal health. Dr. Roizen is the first Chief of Wellness at the Cleveland Clinic, is board certified in internal medicine, an anti-aging expert, and is the author of many New York Times best sellers. His most recent book, What to Eat When, takes an in-depth look at how planning your meal times more mindfully can dramatically improve your health.

Where do we find out more information about the 6 normal health measurements?

Very exciting ideas discussed here. Obesity and diabetes run in my family. With my effort at normalizing my blood sugar high and lows I have thought I needed to eat frequent small meals. This did not help me! The waiting till late morning to eat and being done with eating anything by 7:00 pm I have noticed clothes getting big on me, and oddly enough, blood sugars stabilizing! Thank you for your ground breaking studies, your commitment to sharing the wealth of health. My family would benefit greatly (if only they were looking for the right answers!!) Ann

So far I’ve been able conquer all of my bad habits except eating late or before bed but I’m not giving up and this interview might just be enough to do it. 👍

This is amazing information and I'm intrigued about flipping intermittent fasting to the late meal being lighter. my question would be what if you exercise at night is it still okay to have that small meal or do you want to go with a bigger meal to replenish your body? Appreciate your work I never miss an episode

Very interesting and useful information. But difficult to implement for those of us who work nights, and don't get to home until 2am. I've adjusted by striving to have my last meal at work be a salad with protein.

I am a health care provider that works the night shift. I sleep during the day and up all night long. I keep the same schedule even on my days off so I don't mess up my circadian rhythm and be able to function when I go back to work.

I am glad that Allopathy or present day science is coming around to learn the same teachings taught by The Ayurvedic medicine ( Ancient medicine of India) thousand of years ago , to be in harmony with nature, our little body is in tune with Cosmic body. Eating around Noon is best for the digestion because as the Sun is high so is the digestive power which is called the Jatharagni in Sanskrit & to have light meal at Sunset. Intermittent fasting is very much practised in present day Hindus may be more of our parents generation ,may be in the form of religious days which of course the newer generation does not practice due to their lack of its importance. Its like Yoga had to be Certified by the West & come back to the East & then it became important for the Indians. Its like you dont value the knowledge you have until an outsider points it out.

I'm surprised he mentions bread but did not specify the organic kind or the gluten. What about all the Glyphosate in wheat? All this salmon also, isn't daily salmon intake a little toooo much?

Does Dr. Roizen's book have suggestions for night-shift workers? There are lots of people who have to work in opposition to their circadian rhythm. Any information on how to mitigate the impact of night time eating would be very helpful.
