I’ve been taught a 2 foot spin but struggle getting off my toe pick completely. Do you have any tips to do on or off the ice to make it easier to sit back onto the rocker?
There are a few things you can try! I always recommend going to the boards and practicing finding your rocker. The other thing that might help is keeping your chin up and shoulders back when you spin. This will bring your body up and off of the toe pick area. If you still find yourself spinning on the toe pick no matter what you do, this most likely means your blades/skates are too big.
Try to bring your toes together and create a pizza shape with your feet! You might need to work on pushing them together but eventually it will come naturally.
I’m very new at skating, and am having struggles with spinning! My feet always end up way to far apart, no matter how hard I try to keep them together. Any tips?
Try to push them into the “pizza foot”(toes touching) position when you are spinning! This might help keep your feet together and keep everything over your rocker to making spinning easier. Try not to roll up onto your toe picks when you do this. It might take a bit of practice but that should help!
For the two-foot spin you do a little bit! I would definitely recommend if you can, trying to put a majority of your weight on the foot you would use for a one foot spin. This will make the transition to the one foot spin much easier!
