In this week's video we're taking a look at another viewer request: Adjusting the retention of the Kydex inserts on your Esstac KYWI mag pouches. The index insert in the KYWIs can be quite stiff from the factory and some folks might prefer a little less resistance when reloading from these mag pouches. Others might want even more grip since the KYWIs lack a secondary retention system, such as shock cord. Luckily, making this adjustment can be done at home quickly and easily with a lighter or hair dryer. A heat gun also works if you have. Check out the video for a quick guide!

Thank you sir! This was exactly what I needed, the retention was very strong, moving the plate assembly upwards. Greetings from Brazil

Seems like boiling water poured in a heat safe bowl would be the best method of heat transfer if you're going to mess with the bottom joint like that. I would think that slimming down the angle on the front face of the kydex. Water would be evenly distributing the heat and is efficient as a medium of heat transfer.

My low profile 7.62 pouches had good retention but not super heavy and I was like why would you want this but then I ordered some full height pouches because then I could have 6 scar-H mags on my plate carrier. Hot damn do these clamp a lot harder. I literally could barely get the mags in hahaha cheers for this video man
