Tear down video: • How To 1965 1966 Musta...
We install the Engine side of the new from Vintage Air A/C system (Part number 951157) on our F100. We use the new 131005 FE A/C bracket to dress up the system even further. This is a well thought out Air Conditioning system from Vintage Air and we are super pumped to get hour hand on one.

Wish Vintage Air made a kit that places the evaporator on the engine bay side mounted to the firewall. This would free up space in the cab

That would be more like a '73 on up AC. I see your point, more under dash room, cleaner under there cause it is VERY tight under there and does hang down. But then the engine bay gets trashy.

Looks like a nice fitting kit! Wish they made one for the 65-66 Trucks

I installed an Old Air system in my '70 F250 390, this system would've been a better choice. OA is a total recirc system, no fresh air intake, and to mount the compressor bracket the rear PS bracket had to be removed.

Vintage Air does a great job of testing and set up. I have done a couple of them and have always been very pleased with the fit and finish.

Can this be made to work on a dentside? I have 75 f250 4x4 and don't want to cut holes in dash for vents.

Is it possible to reuse a NOS in cab under dash Ford unit with the Vintage Air components ( compressor etc.) that require a smaller footprint in the engine bay?
@AutoRestoMod
@AutoRestoMod 2 года назад
Absolutely. You will possibly have to have a custom set of hoses.

I have Dealer installed A/C on my ‘69 F-350. So I need a condenser and a Trans cooler for my C-6. Do you suggest mounting the trans cooler in front of the condenser?
@AutoRestoMod
@AutoRestoMod 5 лет назад
Yeah. I'd try to mount it low in front, but still in the opening. get one that is longer rather than fatter.

I have a 1969 f100 but it has a 351w engine and I would like to put air conditioning

Vintage Air has the brackets for the compressor separate from the kit. You'd just need to order a 351 Windsor compressor bracket and pulleys.

Jeff - what color is this body of this truck? Mine is real similar, hard to find touch up paint.
@AutoRestoMod
@AutoRestoMod 5 лет назад
Gold and Yellow LOL. Neither color is a match to the factory paint colors. The original colors are Sequoia Brown (R) and Yuma Yellow (5). Take the truck , or a part from the truck, to the paint store. If they have a newer (2015 on up) paint matching machine they can get in the neighborhood. Most Finish Masters have the newer equipment. Even then, you are probably not going to get it right. Sealer color, coats of base or single stage will dictate how the color looks on the truck.

My power steering bracket on my 69 f250 is different than this one and when I try to put the compressor bracket on it ain’t fittin’. Did they put different power steering brackets in this generation truck or what?

@@AutoRestoMod I’ve been looking into it and it seems there’s a stamped steel power steering pump bracket (like the one you’ve got) and a cast bracket (like I’ve got). Vintage air used the stamped bracket in their development truck to design the AC compressor bracket in their kit. I wonder if Ford designed the stamped bracket for the f100s and the cast bracket for the f250s? I can either switch out the cast for the stamped (if i can even find one for sale) or else notch out the compressor bracket to fit. The steel on this bracket is pretty thick - its not going to be fun. Just letting everyone know theres something to look out for when installing these kits.

Flex fans are loud as he'll anyway. I wonder how that would work as I have an aftermarket aluminum radiator.
@AutoRestoMod
@AutoRestoMod 3 года назад
Should be fine if the clearances on the radiator are stock.

@@AutoRestoMod this one did not have the mounting brackets on the side of the tanks. So I am not sure about that. Not that I could not pull the radiator then mount it.

Do my eyes deceive me it looks like you've got the spark plug wires with number one down at the six o'clock position, don't get me wrong the wires look great that way, but they are wrong, but that's the only way to have them look that good laid out that way.

LOL no it just looks that way, One is where it should be. Cam has a thing for doing this. Spooky, dude hates to detail...and yet he can do he plug wires up like Mike Angelo...

Not a fan of the sanden 508 compressor. The 709 is better. It would be worth it the fabricate in a 10s17 or 10s20 compressor
@AutoRestoMod
@AutoRestoMod 5 лет назад
We have never had a problem with the 508, can you tell us why you like the 10s?
@c_firebirdgo8639
@c_firebirdgo8639 5 лет назад
@@AutoRestoMod I work at an AC shop. We have a barrel full of sandens. It seems to be all about head pressure. Which most don't understand. But I find that the 10s' will usually just melt the clutch and front seal will leak, but the internals will be fine making them an easy rebuild if there's a problem. But usually the problem is the fans..lol

We're lucky they even make it for us, it didn't come out til 2018. It'll be awhile before I can swing it but it looks like a quality unit.
