I know there are many questions and concerns about having a hysterectomy surgery. Many worry about the recovery process, wondering if they'll be able to lift their kids, return to work, or feel like themselves again. The more information you have about making your recovery successful, the more prepared you'll be.
Today, I'm sharing what you can do to feel your strongest self in the first 30 days after a hysterectomy. Whether you've had a partial or total hysterectomy, it's crucial to address your recovery with rest, proper nutrition, and gentle movement.
In the initial weeks, focus on rest, hydration, and nutrition to support your healing. Gradually incorporate light walking and diaphragmatic breathing to enhance circulation and mobility. As you progress, you can start with gentle stretching, pelvic floor exercises, and eventually build up to more strenuous activities. Listen to your body and follow your doctor's advice to ensure a smooth recovery.

4 weeks post laproscopic abdominal total hysterectomy and excision of the diaphragm and kidney. Honestly, I felt better immediately after surgery than I did prior to surgery. I was in really good physical shape prior to surgery in terms of strength, flexibility, and nutrition. Post-op, the first two weeks I did pretty much what you recommend here (minus the diaphragmatic breathing due to the diaphragmatic surgery). I also quit the opioid pain meds after the first day and ibuprofen after the 4th day. I really focused on good quality rest and balanced nutrition. By the end of the first week, I pretty much felt back to normal except for an occasional twinge here or there. For the first week, I used miralax to make sure my bowels stayed functional, but after that I had no issues as I eat plenty of fiber. I also recommend using a bathroom stool to help the body position for encouraging an easier bowel movement. Week 2-4 I just focused on walking a bit more and a tiny bit of gentle mobility work/stretching (nothing that would twist or strain abdominals or pelvic floor). I’m just ending my fourth week and honestly I feel fantastic. My energy is so much better now that all of the endometriosis, cysts, and fibroids are gone that I’m chomping at the bit to get going with exercise. Going into the next two weeks, I will work on very light workouts as I’ve been cleared for gentle exercise. Thanks for all of the videos and helpful info!
