Thank you, love your videos. I am really taking them in. I am 8 days post LAVH. Was doing great, walking 30 minutes in the morning..but last day or so, feeling much more tired and uncomfortable. I noticed that when I was taking my pain med Tramadol, it kept me moving, but now that I am out of the med, I just want to sit in the recliner or nap.
Thank you for your comment! Yes, it takes awhile for your energy level to come back. This I have heard a lot from women. Make sure your hydration, nutrition/protein, etc is dialed in too... Appreciate you watching!
Hello, Thank you for this useful video. I am on my third week of Hysterectomy, and I am still wearing my binder. The reason because I feel my stomach is bulging or swelling, and without the binder, I can't walk that fast. Not sure if I done the right thing. Please advise.
Have you been cleared to start some light exercise? It’s hard to know your full situation, but gradually using binder less and engaging your muscles more while you are walking might be good to try. Let me know how it goes!
@@dr.dawnhealthypelvis yes I can do some light exercises like walking slowly around my block. I’ll start to walk without the binder from today onwards and will keep you posted on how it goes. Thank you ☺️

Is this truly a potentially possible? I do not see how I could do the work I do after surgery. I'm an indy yarn dyer. Yarn wet yarn in heavy water is heavy. Wet yarn is heavy. Day 8 post hysterectomy. Only ovaries remain. It's the serious pain when passing gas or when pooping. When I wake up to go pee, I feel the pressure on the bladder increase and my focus is to get to toilet without any accident. 😢
Thank you...I'm at 3wks Post-op from a laporoscopy hysterectomy...the Transverse Abdominus exercise is helping to regain the muscle control. I cannot state how helpful and important it was to know about Diaphramatic Breathing Exercises. It helped me to relax overall and get my muscles moving again slowly. Your videos have been most helpful...Thank you for sharing your knowledge and being that comforting support.
8:04 How about spinning on a stationary bike? My gym has recumbent bikes. As of the date of this post, I am eight weeks out of my hysterectomy with cervix, both fallopian tubes and both ovaries removed due to a large ovarian tumor that was benign. I was post menopausal when I had the procedure done. The technique my doctor used was the robotic assisted laparoscopic method. Thanks for your help. By the way, my doctor cleared me to start exercising again about 1 to 2 weeks ago at my last post op appointment.
Im facing the problem of urine leakage after removal of uterus and bladder surgery please suggest me what i have to do my surgery was done 17 feb 2024.
Thanks for these videos. I've learned much more from you than I have from my own healthcare providers/system. I have been doing the breathing exercises and will soon try the other two in your exercise video. I'm a bit hesitant about the tissue massage for some of the reasons you mention and also because my scar is tucked under extra skin (apron belly?). Any suggestions? Thanks!
@@r-as6870 thanks for watching! Still address the scar with using finger tips in a perpendicular fashion on the incision if you are able to. Massaging it with your fingers can help.
What do you think abt having a robotic hysterectomy? Do you think recovery is much faster compared to other options?? Have you worked with pt's who had these type of surgery? What are your thoughts?
Thank you. I need all the help I can get for my frozen hip. I also have torn meniscus in my knee on the same side, so my pain is more than just hip related. It goes from my knee to my lower back as well. Do you have any suggestions for that?
My aunt had her hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. She's been experiencing gas pains and 2 occasions she was vomiting. What's the best things to eat after a hysterectomy? And what not to eat?
Great question! As a general rule more protein for healing, bone broth, collagen smoothies are all great for healing. If this persists make sure she checks in with her doctor! 🙏
Hi! I’m a month into my recovery. I wish I had found you prior my surgery. I’m trying to stay positive, but this was a lot harder than I thought it would be. For me it’s the urinary incontinence. I can’t seem to stop leaking. Just walking or standing. Not sure what to do.
Had mines done 6 days ago ..Had to be cut took out my uterus & 11 fibroids everything else was left in & I’m feeling great no pain..was up walking the same day was home the next day ..still doing great thank God ..pain was never an issue after surgery took pain medicine for 2 days no more after that ..the only thing that had me was the gas pain .that went away after I used the suppository’s
Thank you for the good advice. I can't wait to do some floor exercises. Im almost 3 weeks into recovery. I had a complete hysterectomy. Im 58 years old with other health issues. I want to get my health back in check. Looking forward to healthy living. ❤❤

I am 10 weeks post op and sometimes have pressure when urinating and can feel the string of pressure more so toward the end of urinating. Also discomfort when deep coughing and or sneezing. Is this normal?
Sounds like we can only do breathing exercises and walking. Is there anything else we can do. Someone in the comments asked is yoga or Pilates okay to do. I would like to know the answer to that question as well.
If you have clearance from your doctor first. But keep in mind there are so many different levels of how strenuous yoga or Pilates can be so it is a very broad question and hard to answer without knowing specifics about your recovery.
I had uterine prolapse (3/4 - the bulge was visible) and successfully used a pessary for about six years. This year (2024) I had to undergo a hysterectomy (with removal of the cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries) as part of cancer prevention. So, my uterine prolapse will not be an issue, but I am VERY concerned about developing one of the other two types of prolapse. How common is that possibility, especially since I've never seen a pelvic PT?
4 weeks post laproscopic abdominal total hysterectomy and excision of the diaphragm and kidney. Honestly, I felt better immediately after surgery than I did prior to surgery. I was in really good physical shape prior to surgery in terms of strength, flexibility, and nutrition. Post-op, the first two weeks I did pretty much what you recommend here (minus the diaphragmatic breathing due to the diaphragmatic surgery). I also quit the opioid pain meds after the first day and ibuprofen after the 4th day. I really focused on good quality rest and balanced nutrition. By the end of the first week, I pretty much felt back to normal except for an occasional twinge here or there. For the first week, I used miralax to make sure my bowels stayed functional, but after that I had no issues as I eat plenty of fiber. I also recommend using a bathroom stool to help the body position for encouraging an easier bowel movement. Week 2-4 I just focused on walking a bit more and a tiny bit of gentle mobility work/stretching (nothing that would twist or strain abdominals or pelvic floor). I’m just ending my fourth week and honestly I feel fantastic. My energy is so much better now that all of the endometriosis, cysts, and fibroids are gone that I’m chomping at the bit to get going with exercise. Going into the next two weeks, I will work on very light workouts as I’ve been cleared for gentle exercise. Thanks for all of the videos and helpful info!
Order a abdominal hysterectomy pillow, get a heating pad and some ice pack bags. Sleep in the recliner if you can, or if in a normal bed have a body pillow and many regular pillows to prop up. Also be sure to have someone to help you the first 4-5 days. Lay on your back, no side sleeping. I wish you many blessings. Eat plenty of fruit and veggies for a proper bowel movement, fiber intake is important ❤
