If you're about to have a hysterectomy or have recently had one, it's crucial to understand the red flags that need immediate medical attention and how to manage unwanted symptoms. Many women recover well from a hysterectomy, but it's important to be informed about potential issues that can arise.
As a pelvic floor specialist and women's health physical therapist, I've helped many women navigate their recovery from hysterectomy. There are different types of hysterectomies, and knowing what to expect can make a significant difference in your recovery process. Hormonal changes post-surgery can lead to symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings, which can be managed with the right guidance.
It's also common to experience symptoms like constipation, incontinence, and fatigue after a hysterectomy. These issues can be mitigated with proper care and exercises.
In this video, I share the top three red flags to watch for during your recovery, including excessive bleeding, severe infection symptoms, and unbearable pain. Knowing these signs and how to respond can ensure a smoother and safer recovery process.

This is very helpful. I had total laproscopic hysterectomy on May 8th and still have both my ovaries. I've been getting plenty of rest, doing very well and continuing to follow doctor's orders until I return to work.

Thank you, love your videos. I am really taking them in. I am 8 days post LAVH. Was doing great, walking 30 minutes in the morning..but last day or so, feeling much more tired and uncomfortable. I noticed that when I was taking my pain med Tramadol, it kept me moving, but now that I am out of the med, I just want to sit in the recliner or nap.

Thank you! I had my post op appointment yesterday. So far I am healing well. I also was referred to a urologist who has pelvic floor therapy but they do not have any openings until the last week of August. Today is May 30th. I will be looking at your channel for any pelvic exercises I can start at home before my end of August appointment. My surgery was May 10th so I can't do any exercises that engage my core for 3 more weeks, but after that I am cleared to work out. Which of your videos would be a good starting point for me?
