Your videos are so helpful for a beginner like me. I was just wondering, is it true that you should not cut bias patterns on fold? I see a lot of people saying that but then I also see others cutting their patterns on the bias fold. I'm unsure what to do with a slip dress pattern I have.
This was great, thank you! I have a question that might sound elementary, but here goes....once you've taken the selvedge edge over to the side (cut) edge and cut the pattern piece , how do you find the bias again if you've cut off that selvedge edge?
You should be able to tell by the grain in the fabric and how it pulls or stretches in different directions. Thank you for watching Sew Anastasia and happy sewing.
Hi and thanks for sharing this excellent video. You seem very talented! Just wanted to seek your advice: I have some lovely plain weave handwoven pure silk fabric from India. Id like to make a tunic top for myself (male) - kind of like a tshirt but with 2 or 3 thin pleats going down from the side of waist to the bottom. 2 to 3 pleats in this way on the left and right side of this top. The fabric is not the typical machine woven silks that drape beautifully. For a project of this nature, would cutting this fabric on a bias be suitable? Curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks a ton if you get to see this and write back.
Hi, since this is a loose fitting garment it could act more fitted on the bias. Also your pleats might pull funny on the bias fabric if the pleats are vertical and not wrapping around the body on an angle.
@@SewAnastasia the sadness of the biased nation we live in. isn't your business private; this is internet where children watch and it's public. .a guy does the same at his fashion business....hmmmm. time and place seems like. Have a fantastic weekend though
