In this episode we fit and test sports lowing springs on my 350Z. Will they improve handling or will they make the car too uncomfortable to drive?

Not sure if you mentioned it or not but you should always have a 4 wheel alignment done after fitting lowering springs...

Yet again, love all your Videos on the Zeds. Your explanations are impressive and you are so good at making good SIMPLE, and informative content. Please make us a video for Bolt ons and a tune for your car, I truly reckon some bolt ons and a tune even without test pipes will truly make some power out of that DE :).

Not long been watching your vids.must say very educational and helpful. I recently purchased a 350z gt in black with 46000 on the clock and totally unmolested except for a single tail pipe and a load of boy racer sticks .the stickers are now gone and going to put back on twin pipes .its my first real sports car and very pleased with .keep up the good vids oh it's a 2004

"On the Cheap" is where the meat of enthusiasts , hang out! It was refreshing to not see "yet another, money no object max out the credit card borrow from parents " coil over up grade. So Thank you. I would have done some cleaning and at least Rattle can refresh of some parts. But you got it accomplished swiftly. And its always better to lower most. Modern " Sports Cars" The 350z has more room then the 370z looks more balanced and less " sawed off"yes its 400lbs heavier but finding ways of lightening it up , to me is always a fun challenge. Im currently in the finishing stages of building a 78 280z back dated to 240 chassis specs much as possible. And finishing a 240z. Both street modded for fun street performance driving with NO restraints from racing rules , for maximum creative , tweek combinations. Im thinking of a 350 as they are dirt cheap in the USA. Good show as always!

@derrickallen2054
@derrickallen2054 4 года назад
@@RoadandRacetv I got the H&R spacers. I've had them a few years so I don't remember their exact size, but they are definitely worth it and I noticed an immediate improvement in cornering. I live close to a famous mountain road called the tail of the dragon, so any changes I do to my car I can make a short 45 min drive and see the difference right then instead of having to wait for my next track event. If you ever make it over to the states, you NEED to experience this road. It's a 2 lane US highway in the middle of nowhere with 318 curves in its 11 mile stretch AND there's no interconnecting roads, private drives or anything, just 2 lanes and some pull-off areas to allow faster traffic to pass.

Hi, really enjoyed a number of your videos and picked up some useful information/tips on various maintenance jobs. Could you tell what model your makita impact driver is? It looks to have enough torque for most jobs you take on even getting off what look like could be some very stubbern bolts. Cheers, Russ

@RoadandRacetv
@RoadandRacetv 4 года назад
Yes, an alignment of toe would help. Ideally the camber and caster would need to be checked as well they are not adjustable on the 350Z without aftermarket parts. I'm planning of fitting these though and doing a show on proper car suspension setup.

I had the E61 M sport touring. Things that annoyed me....run flat tyres, idrive constant beeps and bongs, reversing sensors always breaking, noisy wipers due to mad / poor design, rear air suspension pump, useless electric seats,. It was easy to service though. Now have 3 touring. Looking forward to your experience of the car.

@jamesgraeme3657
@jamesgraeme3657 4 года назад
@@RoadandRacetv the seat never seems to adjust properly in the way their manual seat do. But by far the most annoying is the wiper (driver side) that clunks at the top of its stroke, it's apparently the bearing on the arm wears out, new blades don't fix it. Lots of videos of it...and the fix. Oh and they wipe the wrong way (left to right) not right to left like most RHD cars

How long does it take for the car to lower after installing them? I installed 1” lowering springs and nothing happened literally
@RoadandRacetv
@RoadandRacetv 3 года назад
Proper springs should lower the car immediately. Poor springs "settle" due to not being manufacured properly.

Put some larger Wheels on the Z, those 17 inch wheels don't suit the lowered stance especially with the wheels sunken in.

@@TheShepTV Running costs are high and they are over-hyped, over weight and under powered. Frankly not that engaging to drive unless you get into ridiculous speeds. An MX5 is more fun round a twisty road below 60 MPH than an M3 is into high figures. Only time I really enjoyed mine was when I had it sideways or if the rev counter was approaching the limiter. I also got endless abuse from other road users because BMW. Difficult in the UK in the busy south to stretch an M3's legs as well due to traffic

No pun , but how old are your shocks , bushes etc ? Its a myth that by lowering the car you will make it better handling , placebo .its for aesthetics , unless you combine them with shorter stroke fresh shocks Bilies B8s etc . Its a false economy of what youre doing right now , if youre serious about fast driving ( and i see you are ) You'll get back to coilover option . Keep up the good work .
@tracktimevideos5164
@tracktimevideos5164 4 года назад
This is just incorrect. Coilovers certainly make more difference but good lowering springs also make a good difference. They are shorter which lowers the centre of gravity and stiffer giving less body roll, it's simple physics.
@volvos60bloke
@volvos60bloke 4 года назад
Terrifying isn't it, winding up a spring?
@thesouth50
@thesouth50 4 года назад
Every video skips through the hard stuff up front. It's not as simple as undoing bolts and wiggling. U undo the top strut bolts and it doesn't move. U have to beat out the lower bolt and replace it later. And then be prepared to fight with each side on the struts for an hour or so. Once they're off it's easy to switch the springs.
