I had this problem with my Honda Odyssey after replacing with a new battery. It's fixed the loose battery connections problem. Thanks for this video.

Regarding being careful when wrenching on the positive terminal: Even better would be to disconnect the negative terminal first. That’s how I was taught: Don’t touch a wrench to the positive side without first disconnecting the negative side.

That’s great thank you those are exactly what I was looking for. I had seen other guys cut pieces of thin sheet metal or tin. What I had used was a hose clamp that I cut the screw part off and wrapped the rest around the post, but it wasn’t working so well, I’m going to get a package of those post enlargers. I apologize for saying this, but I do want to add that instead of dielectric grease I use NOCO cleaner and it also identifies the acid by turning red and after I clean the battery and the post I used step two which is a different spray that is similar to a PB blaster or kroil to protect the battery posts and connections. It works really well.

I didn’t have this shim so I took some aluminum foil and folded it over a few times. Then I placed it around the terminal and it fit tightly and did not move. It started right up.

Dielectric grease is often sold at the register as “bulb grease” wherever you might buy replacement headlights and such. That’s where they have little packs that you tear open and use like a ketchup or mustard packet… instead of buying a whole tube for something you rarely use.

I replaced my battery last month and now my car completely dies sometimes when i turn it off. I believed the problem might be a loose terminal so i inspected it. The negative terminal won’t tighten. I will buy this and try it.

It was obviously too big when you just lifted it off 😂 id crush it closed a bit or use a smaller size or you're gonna have problems

Lol exactly me today. Literally no crank even though it's only -5. Now debating whether I walk to go buy some shims, or wait to use my mom's car.

I was going to drill a small hole and add a screw.

Or you can make your own shims..just cut a small diameter copper pipe in two ..

This is elephants tail problem. Tiny but could make you replace a lot of expensive parts 😡
