You should do an experiement where you pick 10 subscribers who try your advice. Let them choose 5 videos and apply it to their life, then check up with them after 5 months.

If you can't stick to routine you had planned a night before or at morning, this tip might work. (Context: I had the same problem and tried to follow what some influencers were showing in their channel (eg.12 hour study routine) but failed miserably and it caused demotivation) Tip: Instead of planning your whole day a night before, plan for what you are going to do in next 3-4 hours. For example if you plan to wake up at 6am to start your routine, there will be chance that you can wake at 7:30 am and now your whole day is ruined as nothing goes as planned. But if you wake up at say 7:30 am, get yourself freshed up, plan for 8:30 to 11:30 at 8:15, do your routine , take some rest again, plan at 12:15, do as planned for say 3 hour and repeat. By this you will be actively keeping check on your day, getting things done and customize your plan instead of slipping up on one or two things and feeling pathetic whole day.

Oh yeah that makes sense Most of the time we end up procrastinating because we accidentally miss doing a task, we can also try making other plans like If i dont wake up at 6 am ill create another plan for 7 to 8 am

I think it can be damaging trying to focus on the behaviour before gaining the meaningful context. Yes the habit loop forms in the brain and is necessary to make it automatic, HOWEVER I've found trying to directly build the habit loop itself rarely works long term. The only long term solution to building a permanent habit, is by having proper emotional understanding for why you should do it. Like yes, they add a tingly feeling to toothpaste in order to create a reward for the loop, but that is not enough on it's own to make practically the entire world brush their teeth. The reason most of the world have a habit of brushing their teeth, is because they understand how they will look if they don't brush their teeth regularly and they don't want to look unattractive and appear low status. Gain the emotional understanding of why the habit is important, and the loop will always take care of itself.

Thats the best method to make any decision honestly. Go into meditation for a couple of hours or even better, days. Then think about it. Deeply. Why must you do it? Look into every nook and cranny.

Exactly that's what made me develop a habit of working out and journaling. Emotional understanding, context, reasoning, whatever you wanna call it. Kudos to you, that is hands down the best method.

I agree, but is that not the second component, "Make it Attractive", where you change your view of a habit - why it has to be done? I see the second component as the emotional one.

Such an amazing video! I have been trying for months to reduce my screen time but i always fall back into using it for too much time just because I'm bored. Trying to make habits, and keeping in mind the answers to the question you made on your video, are probably going to help me to have a better life and I'm all for it and so grateful!! I've been reading the book "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, and I can't stress enough, that book is a masterpiece in habits, I still haven't finished but I'm already half through it! I saw someoone reccomending the book, so I decided to check it on my own, and I did I regret it? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

I just received that book as a gift and read a few chapters from that. The chapter "You're habits shape your identity" is perhaps THE most important chapter in the book, in my opinion.

I've been doing a "dot system", where I have 15-20 various productive habits each with their own coloured dot that I put on a calendar. I try to reach 10 dots a day. Really helps. Thanks for the video

Isn't trying to build 15 to 20 habits at the same time difficult... I've heard it's better to have a keystone habit and master it first. It's been 8 months since you posted this.. I want to know if the 15 to 20 habits are engraved into your routine now..

Then create the reward for yourself. "If I meditate, my reward will be watching an episode of..." or "If I workout, my reward will be 3 oreo cookies". Doing this is a way of tricking your brain into associating the action with the reward, which will motivate you more.

I don't have any problems with starting habits or keeping them. I do stretching exercises and at least a 3 minutes plank every morning. Currently the only problem I'm having is the sheer scale of the chores that I have to do. I help my parents on their job and it seems they have to change a lot of their working schedules. I rarely find any time to empty my mind and relax.
