How to fix back pain while training core. You might want to train your core with 3 great exercises like the plank, the ab wheel, and the crunch. You want to make sure the limiting factor of your core training is the strength of your abs, and not your ability to tolerate back pain.
Typically what I see from people who suffer back pain while training core is that they're starting a little too relaxed through their core. You might be able to tolerate this for a bit, but as you get tired and your abs naturally start to get tired, that little bit of looseness through the core starts to create a lot of pain in the lower back.
With the crunch it's actually the opposite problem. You start off pain free but as the set goes on, or as you increase your range of motion, your back starts to hurt.
Here are 2 drills that you can do to eliminate back pain while training core. The first thing is understanding how to put your spine in a neutral position. You do this against the wall. To help with your back pain I want you to go against the wall and attempt to eliminate the space between your lower back and the wall. Big deadlifted Richard Hawthorne talks about the next drill quite a bit. He talks about the hallow hold. These are 2 great drills to help you fix back pain while training core.
Now you just have to get good at putting it all together. Work on keeping your abs tight and your hips tucked during the plank and the ab wheel to eliminate back pain. For the crunch, I actually want you to go from a relaxed position to as high as you can while keeping your lower back on the ground.
