Speed option play was Caleb's fault which he owned post-game, he had a check built right into that play to switch too, if the defensive look wasn't right'. But Caleb felt he would get delay of game checking out of play with only 10 secs on play clock coming out the huddle, so he just called hike and ran it anyways lol (Rookie mistake since we had timeouts to take even if the adjustment took too long) this is exactly why our center Shelton said it wasn't the right look for the play, that was an indictment against Caleb for not checking out of play and not a shot at Shane for calling the play. Im pretty sure the whole O-Line wiffed because they were all surprised Caleb called hike instead of the play check adjustment, they were all expecting to be called.
@SwiftSportsNetwork
@SwiftSportsNetwork 19 часов назад
@iculqqkn5768 there was 5, or 6 seconds on the clock at that point. Only option was to hike it or call a timeout
@iculqqkn5768
@iculqqkn5768 19 часов назад
@@SwiftSportsNetwork Exactly it is a rookie mistake to call hike causing his Lineman to fall like dominoes. Where a vet calls timeout or does the check call anyways with only 5 secs on clock and it is the responsibility of the HC to call the timeout when play clock hits 1 Sec. or eat the 'Delay Of Game' penalty. Im not going to crucify a rookie for doing what rooks do but wont sugar coat it neither by blaming everybody but him especially for that play in particular.

People need to cool it with the drama. It’s a new OC and a rookie QB… it’ll take time. That’s why DJ didn’t want to restart. Texans started 1-3 and lost to the Colts 31-20 last year. The oline looked better but still 💩 and Caleb was missing WRs again. Yet he still had 363 and although a poor choice, that second INT was a DPI. Finally, blowing Billings INT dead but then not blowing JT28s goal line play dead was horse💩.

I am not sure I agree with the breakdown of the 4th down analysis. You’re at the 1 yard line, most competent coaches with call run from under center to try to punch it in. Worst case if that doesn’t go through, then the other team gets the ball at their own 1 yard line and that’s still an advantageous position to be. Running option play when you know your line isn’t playing well is just nuts.

The hype for this team was too high and now, without fields, the OL is exposed the way they were with Fields just Fields was bigger stronger and faster and inflated our pass protection numbers extending plays. Williams has similar ability but at the end of the day OL has been subpar at best and Coleman Shelton looks overwhelmed every week so far, maybe he’ll settle in but so far the OL has been completely overmatched through 3 weeks

Couple of points. Walden is getting the same results as Getsy. The one thing that’s the same is the Oline coach. Both Whitehair and Patrick seem to be doing well else where. That’s the thing about that play tho Swifty, on 4th & 1 you know the defense is pushing forward more than ever. So instead of calling a play where offense pushes back you put them in a position to be caught off guard and pummeled at the line. That was so much of the wrong play that it might not even be the o-line’s fault either. They weren’t supposed to finesse their way into the end zone they were supposed to bumrush them right back and build some type of confidence.

It all starts with the offensive line, and also a good center. Then left, right tackle, etc. A good offensive line can help open up those running lanes for a RB. Its no accident that the Bears RBs are doing bad right now, because it goes back to the O-line. In some of the plays it seems Caleb is also not in sync with his receivers at times. The good news is the defense is at least top 10 (some might say top 5).

You're spot on! Unfortunately, with this coaching staff and offensive line, this year will end being a 500 year at best. Can't fix the o-line until the next draft unless he trades draft picks during this season for o-line help. I'm a realist! Next year is our year! We'll have new coaching and a new o-line!

The OL tho . Should they try Wright at LT? See if he's just meant to be there? I been the Biggest Brax fan, Day 1, at some point he's gotta put things together. May end up Charles Leno which, good career. Tevin got thrown to the ground 😳 Did not expect to see him on his stomach. Still a great talent, maybe 🤔 he should move back to RT 🤷🏻 Idk. Matt Pryor got the start at RG and if you watched him at RG he was really good. Idk his grade for the game cause he had to move to LT. RT maybe, I don't think he slides well enough for LT. At Guard he's a monster. Center needs Reps w/the QB. They looked better this week snap wise. I see this as a Get off the 🏈 OL. May be a Pass but our guys are run blocking guys down field, then Caleb can roll out easier.

I think 🤔 Starting RoJo over Swift would be smart. He's obviously better at tough yards so if they plan to keep using Swift the same way, I'd prefer RoJo gets the snaps. Herbert is used as your burner back. Swift used as your pass down back. But RoJo is getting those tough yards. If he's out there behind a FB, good luck stopping him 😳💯 Seeing more the Lions 2yard RB than the weapon Philly made. Shows he's being used wrong. Did they talk to the OC before signing him?!?! 😅 Cause he seems to have No plays for Swift 🤷🏻

Johnson was our Montgomery and he should've been in for that one yard run , period! Swift with the Eagles had a top 10 o-line to run behind. Waldron's scheme & offense line coach isn't on same page so line coach changes or let him go. One thing to me is clear JF1 run threat had defences afraid which opened up holes for RB's & Caleb doesn't affect defence the same. I hope this home game is a win & I hope Karim gets to play. The bottom line is that Shane Waldron IS the OC of this team. If the O-line coaches are not doing a good job training players in his system, then HE needs to get on them and hold them responsible. The same holds true for Matt Eberflus. If he doesn't like what's going on with the offense (How could he?), then HE needs to get on Waldron.

CW threw for 363 yards in 1 game with arguably the worst offensive line we’ve ever had. It would have taken JF at least 3 games combined to do that! We are 1-2 and could very easily be 3-0. Our defense is very close to being championship caliber, but our offensive line is still the glaring weakness. Ryan Poles has done a very good job of flipping our roster, with the exception of this God awful, offensive line. I swear, Ryan “RuPoles” assembled a bunch of drag queens & said, “You betta Work!” (RuPaul’s hit song, lol). Now, we either need Donald Trump to come in and tell the entire offensive line, “You’re fired” or bring in Patches O’Houlihan as the new offensive line coach & have him start throwing wrenches at all of them, and taking them into the streets of Chicago, to block oncoming traffic! Next off-season, focus on bringing in all new top tier veteran offensive linemen via free-agency & use the draft on nothing but offensive linemen!

Somebody needs to be held accountable. I do know this, I have been watching all sports for 45 years and when any team makes a good HC hire, the impact is felt immediately. Flus' record is horrible. Plenty of people carrying water for this guy citing bad roster, etc. I'm not buying it at all. Maybe Waldron is the correct choice, he certainly seemed to be a good choice 8 months ago. Something is not working, and between Flus or Waldron they need to get their heads out of their ass. Flus embarrassed himself on a few occasions Sunday with replay challenges and conversion decisions. He does not command any confidence. I do not know all the answers. I'm really bummed, it appears Bears have a good shot at NOT getting to 7 wins after all the new toys and the hype.

I don't know man, after watching another shambles offensive play calling it just doesn't make sense how the I-formation seems lost in the game strategy. Klint Kubiak is right there with Slowik and Ben Johnson and I say He might be the best of the three options for the point you just made about being a rookie O.C. with limited or no Play-Calling experience. Klint has the Saints balling out of their minds using same system as Getsy Slowik & Waldron obviously coaching tree is big part of that. (Not saying Klint Kubiak would've done any better than Shane if you hand him a Rookie QB and not a 10-year vet like David Carr, Jared Goff or even Geno Smith.) Only Bobby Slowik and Kyle S. have made this scheme 'POP' with rookie QBs like Stroud and Purdy who both shocked the world by doing it as rookies. Both Niners and Texans had future HoF LT for their rooks.

Ultimately, you're correct tho nobody is getting fired and imo not even on the 'Hot Seat' right now because these growing pains are exactly what is to be expected with any rookie QB, since all Rookie QBs all do a good bit of rookie shit their first 4 games let alone a Rookie like Caleb who they allowing or asking, to make Line adjustments with C to go along with his play check calls (for perspective 6 year QB Baker Mayfield said Dave Canales wouldn't let him do that last season). So patience is what is required, and patience is what no fan / media has ever had, especially in Chicago.

I don’t question Waldron being a good play caller….. but I do question whether Waldron can play call using his teams strengths and AVOIDING exploiting the weakness’s. If your O-line is the weak spot, why would you line up 9 yrds behind the line from the 1 yard line SMH. Wouldn’t it be smarter to use a RB who’s career average is 5 yrds or the other one who’s 20lbs heavier. WHY would you call 60 pass plays going up against the 32nd rush D AND missing their best player. If swift leads the backfield in Carries vs the Rams, I’ll right him off. Yes, the OLine is playing significantly worse than last year, and yes, Waldron has made some questionable calls. But all of this rests on getting the OLine to STEP UP. Brax, Tev, and Darnell have all slipped up repeatedly so far this year ... playing down to the Nate Davis level. While Sheldon hasn't lived up to the expectation at all. Someone HAS to kick these guys in the Arse and get them to play up to the expectation level they SHOULD be playing up to. They have the talent. We've all seen it. So what the hell is going on?!!

Seems he doesn’t know how to play to the strengths of the team. Waldron has not been good and nothing I see will change my mind that this whole staff is gone next year.

Who cares when bates gets back he has been nothing more than a backup his entire career on a team that didn't have a monster o line. He is not the answer just a guy poles fell in live with last year then traded for a backup this year when there was still much better options in free agency

I think Flus has too much of a hand in the offense and isn’t letting Shane be himself. You can’t tell me that goal line 4 handoffs in a row is Waldron… that smelled like Flus badly

Anyone who has played the game knows that the game is won or loss through the trenches. Instead of drafting high-end position players we should have been drafting and working on both O and D lines first. Basic Football. Look at all the greatest dynasties. They are all real good O Line and a great D line. I will say this again! We should have traded down the last draft and acquired more real estate. Think about the players we could have drafted on both lines.

I wouldn't disagree, but I also think you have to take the RIGHT players, not just any player.

Waldron was never a great caller in Seattle. Hilarious how many people were so "excited" about Gerald Everett as a te2 lol. A position that. Rarely matters. He has fone nothing. Waldron may have made for a decent geno smith but never had a great offensive or used his best guys properly. Dk is having his best start ever without waldron. Hell there offense is betterbwithout.

Swifty if the damn Bears coaches - I mean you Waldrop - were as smart as you or worked as diligently as you we would not have this problem. I disagree re the Waldron helping Geno. That was the work of Canales.
