I'm also confused... you have a Nintendo Switch, and have problems with connecting it to your TV? Or are you using a HDMI switch to send multiple signals to your TV? Sometimes just disconnecting and reconnecting all the cords can fix your problems.

I don’t have enough fingers to count how many incorrect things this man says in one video hahaha I’ll make a couple corrections just because some people are gonna watch this looking for information. (I won’t bother pointing out the obvious about what HDCP stands for and who developed it lol). 1) it’s impossible to have a HDCP problem with old consoles - as he said in the video - HDCP doesn’t exist with those consoles - which is exactly why you won’t have any problems - because HDCP does not exist on the video signal 2) HDCP results in video being blanked out while the sound still works - not the other way around like this guy is claiming.

@Vigerp

Unfortunately I don't know a lot about iPhones, but it *might* fix your issue. HDCP behaves in mysterious ways. Sometimes you get image but no sound, other times you get sound only, and sometimes you just get a blue or black screen. It could be a HDCP issue, or it could be something wrong with the display. It's hard to tell from just a post. :/

Just watched all 7 parts of your setup videos and now this and I have to ask.... what’s the lag like? 😂 (eg one of the RF consoles that’s routes through a VCR and several switches)
@Vigerp
@Vigerp 4 года назад
That is an excellent question, Oliver. To be honest, there is almost no lag at all. If I were to film myself and slow the footage down there might be a very slight lag. However, playing the games I have not noticed any lag. Especially not from the older consoles. I might have lag on some of the newer consoles, but that is due to my internet more than anything else. However, a pro-speedrunner might notice some lag, but an average gamer won't be affected at all.

@@Vigerp When I have my setup finished, I was thinking about connecting the Framemeister directly to the TV to give a stronger/more stable HDMI output signal (instead of sending the HDMI out from the Framemeister to one of the HDMI switch boxes). If you were to do that, do you still have the HDCP handshake issues?

@Vigerp
@Vigerp 4 года назад
It sounds like the issue is with the television in question. According to Sony's website "Your TV must support Screen mirroring based on Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™ for the function to work." Have you any other TVs you can test the mirroring function with?

@Vigerp 4 года назад
@@syedhamza9580 No worries. I hope you find a solution. The website suggests to get a separate wireless display adapter, if the problem persists. Unfortunately I am not an expert on wireless HDCP issues, but using a separate adapter *should* have the same effect as a splitter. You are basically altering the signal being sent to something the receiver (in this case the TV) will accept.

Hi, I recently bought a Capture Device Called Ezcap 284 to capture my gameplay and stream using OBS. But when I connect it to my Graphics Card it shows, "This display doesn't support HDCP" and now I can not record my gameplay using OBS. Should I buy a Splitter to get the overlay of the capture card in the OBS??
@Vigerp

Unfortunately I do not know enough about different types of Capture Cards to be of much help, but buying a splitter is a much cheaper experiment than to buy a new Capture Card.

My new TV doesn't have component which is how I use to connect my Wii. I purchased the hyperkin Wii to HDMI cable it worked well for a couple of days then the screen would go black then come back on then back to black again. Thinking the hyperkin could be defective I switched to a component to HDMI converter and it did the same thing. I asked a couple of friends one said possible hot plug detection another said something about handshake. Do you know what they're talking about and maybe what's causing this to happen? Thank you
@Vigerp
@Vigerp 4 года назад
Handshake is a term used when talking about HDMI cables. Think of it as the actual connection between a console and a TV, where the console is trying to shake hands with the television. The HDMI cable is the outstretched hand, and once you plug it into the TV that's your handshake. But just like in real life, just because you reach out your hand, doesn't mean that the other person will accept your handshake. There could be a number of reasons why you would get a faulty handshake, but most commonly it is because the two systems don't approve of either each other or the HDMI cable itself. The way to work around this is to either try a different HDMI cable (maybe the old one is faulty), or use a HDCP compliant splitter box or switch box. This would take the signal from the Wii and retransmit it to the TV. Because the signal is now coming from a different source, the TV is more likely to accept the new handshake. Think of it as a neutral third party that is mediating between two people who can't stand each other.

my splitter doesn't send the signal of the ps3. I'm using the 4k60 pro in my pc, might the splitter not work or am I doing something wrong?
@Vigerp
@Vigerp 5 лет назад
How are you setting it up? Where are the cables comming from and where are they going? You should have one cable going from the PS3 to the input of the splitter, one cable going from one of the splitter outputs to your TV, and one more going from the second output to your capture card, or PC.

This did NOT help. My problem is with my RU-vid TV and my Roku. I get that message about HDCP error 020. Maybe it's my cable? I have a 2017 1080P TV. Thanks.
@Vigerp
@Vigerp 5 лет назад
Hey man. Sorry for the late reply, but I have been busy moving into our new home, so I had to take a break from RU-vid. HDCP is a tricky beast, and sometimes cables just refuse to cooperate. There are two things I would suggest. One is to unplug all your cables, wait for a few minutes, then plug it all back together. Sometimes this will fix the faulty "handshake" and make everything work again. Another is to make sure that every part of your setup (cables, switch boxes, TV's and so on) are all HDCP compliant. You can test this by switching out one component at the time with a replacement. Basically try to isolate the problem.

so i am planning to buy PC monitor with HDCP, after watching this video i still don't understand if it will have some impact on streaming my PC game play, or recording my screen while gaming
@Vigerp
@Vigerp 5 лет назад
When streaming, if possible, you should have two screens. One for your game, and one for your stream feed. That way you can keep an eye on your stream and comments, to make sure that the feed is not interrupted. As for the importance of buying a HDCP compliant monitor, it depends if you are using one monitor or two and what you play your games on (Console or the PC). If you only use one monitor and a newer console, then it *needs* to be HDCP compliant, as the signal will travel in a direct line from your console to your monitor. If that HDCP handshake isn't validated, then you will not get an image. If you are using multiple monitors or a PC, you will need a splitter. This splitter *needs* to be HDCP compliant, but the monitors does not. This is because the splitter acts as the final destination for the signal, meaning your console accepts the handshake without question and sends the video through.

@@Vigerp Thanks for quick response, but wait, i think i am even more confused now. Why does everybody speak only about consoles? There are tons of videos and articles "how to" ... bla bla bla ... Just to clear everything out... I am planning to buy new monitor and i hesitate over ViewSonic XG2530 and Alienware AW2518HF. and i saw in comparsion that ViewSonic has HDCP and Alienware doesnt, and i was like what the hell is HDCP so I watched some videos and found out that, its rly unnecessary thing which basically annoys more than helps, and you can have some issues while streaming and stuff
@Vigerp
@Vigerp 5 лет назад
That is correct, because computers and computer monitors are designed to work together without any issues. That being said, every system is different, but you should not have any issues if you are playing from a PC. It's when you add consoles to the mix that you might encounter problems - as they are expecting a TV to be on the other end.
