Dr. Rowe shows how to quickly fix sharp pain between the shoulder blades (scapula).
We're going to make getting quick relief easy by going over a step-by-step, three part guide. We'll focus on stretching, self mobilizing, and strengthening the upper and middle back. That way we can not only get quick sharp pain relief, but also help get rid of it for good.
Each part works a little differently, and will target muscles and in (and around) the shoulder blades. To get the best results, make sure to go through them all and use what gives you the most relief.
As a bonus, all of the exercises can be done at home and can give instant relief, even within seconds.
Watch now for instant shoulder blade pain relief!

Hey, hey, hey, DOC!!! Your Shoulder blade pump and sweep finally somehow released this clicking underneath my right shoulder blade, on my first set!!! I've had that for so long that I can't remember. I've been to many therapists, chiropractors, even several different myofascial trigger point release therapists (which is the therapy that did for me what all the other therapies never accomplished-- although I'm not saying they didn't help a lot. I was a hot mess.) What you do here is incredibly valuable. You're God's Chiropractic Angel! I hope somebody who reads this, and can draw or paint well, will do that and mail it to you! I wish you would designate a weekend when the weather is usually decent and let us all come up to celebrate together our appreciation for you! We could meet you and shake your hand, have a big pot luck meal together, you could tell us your story, and we could share some of our successes. Maybe there's a church or someplace up there with a big outdoor playground area, if anyone has kids to bring. I pray God's richest blessings overtake your life! Shalom!

I was in a car accident a week ago and injured my right rotator cuff. Since then I've had to use my left arm for lifting, carrying, etc. Today the pain in my left scapular area was excruciating! The stretches at the beginning of this video were so helpful. I'm still in pain, but not nearly as much. I intend to repeat the stretches on and off until the pain is gone entirely. Thank you Doctor Rowe!

I totally screwed my back yesterday with the silliest thing playing my dog in the fields. I went for a big distance effort with a ball on a string and instantly: yowzers! Could barely get out of bed this morning. Like a turtle stuck on his back. Limited head and right arm movement without shooting pains. Got home after work, lay on my back and headed straight to your channel. Did these stretches against the wall and they really helped. I get this probably twice a year in on the right shoulder blade. I know it will work itself out as it always tends to with my physical work but the stretches are a game changer in terms of managing the early discomfort. Thank you so much ❤

Doc, I SERIOUSLY need a little advice regarding this. My spine is a mess (8 collapsed discs, pinched nerves etc) but my right shoulder blade, I swear it's torture, and on the inside part (left of the bone) towards the spine theres like a concave depression that's EXTREMELY painful. It feels like the muscle there is going through a cheese grater. My doctor said it's too loose, like there's too much movement and likely detached from the bone. Will this help ease the pain even a little bit while I'm getting setup with a specialist? It's horrible pain. Thanks for all your awesome videos, keep up great work

Tried to do first stretch. Did not have a therapy band so used resistance tubes. Tubes suddenly snapped up my back and tangled badly in my very long hair! 🤣🤣🤣 Moving on to bandless exercises. I’m determined to make some of these work. The area between my shoulder blades opposite my large heavy chest is ALWAYS fatigued and sore! Edit: I liked the standing against the door exercises better than leaning on a bed/chair because I felt more stable. Very much liked the foam roller exercises. The floor angel got me a crack! And wow the shoulder blade lift off is harder than it looks! I can definitely use strengthening in that area!!!

hey! nice video! I get this sharp pinching pain on my right side ONLY when I row with a load (working out at the gym). Would these exercises help as well? The pain feels like a very thin muscle fiber is being stretched to its limit. However its only when i contract my rhomboids (the rowing motion where I squeeze my scapulas together) i feel that sharp pinch - where the muscles are contracting. Would this suggest it is a muscle strain?

This past Thursday i woke up with middle of my shoulder blade with sharp pain that radiates to my upper rib cage. Two years ago fell forward hitting elbows and ribs and hip and face and my finger dislocated… plus during covid i had back pain. So recently i was moving heavy plant pots a day or two before I woke up in pain. A doctor said possibly neurothopy. Yes provably. I have autoimmune too. I am hoping i can do this exercise. Thinking to seeing a spine specialist to see if i have nerve damage.

Would these exercises be alright for the following: mild disc @ T2-3. Lobulated disc pro at T7-8 There could be contact with the intrathecal ventral nerve root, right greater than left. Minimal disc bulging at T8-9. Small effusion is seen on the left at T12-L1. Central canal stenosis is moderate at T7-8 related to disc protrusion. I have severe pain under shoulder blades especially on the left. I do stretches and started rowing exercises which seem to help, however, minimal basic tasks brings a lot of tightness and pain to the point of my back locking up.

In addition, I regularly do gymnastics on my back on the ground. I also do the exercises you showed, I have been to many massage therapists and manual therapists, but the pain never goes away. I don't know what else I can do. I also use SMR foam roller regularly. Sometimes the pain lessens, but it never goes away.

The first standing one against the door, will that cause aggravation within the shoulder joints? I have neck, all of back and shoulder issues plus right wrist, {that the upper body issues, lol} my back, between shoulder blades, Lower, mid n upper are always painful, every day, same with neck. The levels just vary In severity. I’ve had many problems since I was 22 when I had my first whiplash car accident. Worked 20 years in the postal system as a mail officer which was heavy n repetitive mail sorting n slightly leaning over machinery. During that time I had 3 more whiplash incidents, all small but building on top of each other. I’ve had facet joint injections, nerve blocks in shoulders/neck several times. I leave Aussie Post to go easy on myself n start work as a therapy assistant in aged care, within 18 months I injured my lower back L4L5 S1.. in 2007. I had a disctectomy/laminectomyin 2010. Eased the leg nerve pain but have ongoing back pain. 4 years ago I fell n fractured my R wrist, got CRPS straight after then realised I also had the start of Dupuytrens Contracture. Wrist hasn’t really fixed itself although the fractures healed well I now also have arthritis in that wris and get strange sharp nerve pain in that forearm and that wrist cracks, kinda feels like the bones are stuck at times and aches. Few months ago I had terribly sore feet so had an X-ray/ ultrasound on both. Yay! I now have metatarsal bursitis in both, 2/3 and 3/4 mortons neuroma in both plus arthritis in big toes and upper foot/ankle. Had cortisone injections in the biggest neuroma in each foot recently with not much help. I guess I’m writing all this as it’s hard to be motivated to exercise or do much at all. Depression n anxiety ontop of everything doesn’t help. I’m lazy, I’ve NEVER ever been into fitness and it puts you off when you feel pain doing stuff. How does one deal with movement, exercise n doing stretches on one part of the body when do that actually feels like your putting stress on or aggravating another body part by doing so? I freely admit I don’t do stretches or anything like I should, I don’t go to the hydro pool when I should be, I did on occasions go walking and quite enjoy that but I’d be spasmodic then not go for weeks. Now the walking is hard as for the intense totally random sharp stabbing pains in feet from god knows which of the three issues or maybe all three? How do I make myself or motivate myself to do any of the things I’m meant to/ I’m in Perth West Australia so it’s not like I can come see you. Be great to pay someone to help me, have physio or massage n acupuncture etc etc also but I’m unemployed due to all the issues (places just terminate me or sneakily find ways of getting rid of me, too much sick leave and I guess I’m a liability. Geez.. I don’t sound too happy do I…lol. Strangely enough I’m actually quite a fun joker type of individual 😜 Lisa (sorry for any un-noticed typos)

Myofascial trigger point release therapy gave me my life back after 2 devastating auto crashes (severe rear-end and a later head-on) which left me with constant shoulder, neck, full back and hip pain, double frozen shoulders, even after surgery and P.T. My excellent therapist was able to restore correct position to a neck vertebra which was still sideways 17 years after the 1st accident in 1986! I'm 69 now and I live every day pain free. I'm very thankful to Dr. Rowe for his exercises which help me retain my flexibility and Mobility. I think they're easier than the ones my therapist assigned me to do. He's obviously the real deal, and I've been to five different chiropractors over my life. However, "Popping" wasn't helping since the soft tissue needed to be addressed. I'm just telling you my personal experience over a long period of time. No one should have to continue in pain when the right therapies exist.

@@verreal It's not the lung or rib problem cause these stretches does help but only short periods of time. Once I got the stiffness away for couple of months but came back when I start shooting the pucks and play ice hockey it's due to too repititive movement on when I shoot pucks😬 for me the best stretch is lean to wall with hands it gives some relief

Ok, so I don't have a band, or a sheet, or a foam roller. Cool.. Great. Thx for the help

These work but for a very limited time. After doing these the discomfort subsides but within 30 minutes it hurts again as if I'd done nothing. I even did these for several days in a row. The search for relief continues I suppose.

Since having the flu jab in april in upper arm ..its now august...its uncomfortable to lay on my left arm and certain arm movements hurt. I've used muscle creams on my upper arm shoulder but the problem is still there. What can b I do please?

I did these yesterday and I can’t lay on my back anymore… My back is completely covered in blue bruises… My shoulder blades hurt even more than before… I did everything exactly as in the video and I don’t know what went wrong :(

I just don't lay on side! .. I tried slept with pillow under my thighs knees last night thinking it's a pelvic tilt?.. but I'm guessing.. But it hurts worse in my bank in the morning.. I don't know what the hell it exactly is wrong with me.. It's all guessing. But I cannot lay strate on my back or sideways .. Please suggest ANYBODY what this could be..

Doesn't work. The stretches make it hurt worse. It feels like I'm being branded from the inside. My Dr. told me it was from Achalasia and that it was my esophagus going into spasm. I can't breathe deep, burp or put ice on it cause it causes more pain. I have to shallow breathe. I wish there was an answer

the annoying part is, they do work, but they doesn't fix the underlying issue which is soooooo hard to find, even for doctors, so yes this does exactly what is says it reliefs from the sharp pain but as soon as you get back to your activities, its back, ti's like a needle is lodged in my shoulder blade

The problem is the doctors rarely even bother to look for the root cause, because they dont care. These excercises wont fix it after one session, but they do help the healing over time.
