Pretty sure I would have cut minimum 3x3. I would wet compact HL6 silt run Gravel Drive some vertical re-bar and pour around 6 inches of concrete. Finally, dress it with another 6 inches of the cold pack asphal that you used.

I agree with Kaboom. I think it was probably a mistake not to open up that hole to a bigger size. I think the repair will ultimately be temporary because there's no way you got the necessary compaction needed...but at least you won't have to worry about your car falling into a 3 foot deep hole now

@ fix this house Jay is that newer "Concrete" that is porous work better?? I will look for the name the reason they don't use it as freely here in Las Vegas is because of the cost. It doesn't make much sense dince with monsoon weather lately it would prevent the road damage and cut down on labour and supplies don't you think ? You are just wasting time and not to mention money. This is NOT A PROPER FIX and should be used as a fix all your doing is putting on a bandaid your gonna have to fix it again. Here's is how you should be doing it. If you want to "properly" fix a sinkhole, the absolute best method is to cut out the sinkhole with an asphalt saw and remove the bad asphalt. Build the foundation back up to the same level as the surrounding base, then fill it in with a pothole patch. A quote from Mike Holmes "Make It Right The First Time"

When they refer to birdbath, they are not talking about it being round. It means don't have the center lower than the sides so water won't sit in the middle.
