These all in one devices are pretty neat. I prefer seperate components, but I had several of these type growing up. These days you can get them used for about 30-50$ in the U.S. but they all need lots of tuning and repairing. If I was in the market for one, I would be willing to pay a bit more if I knew the tune up had already been done.

My Dad brought me a Teac walkman from Kmart in the early 90s, back when Kmart in NZ used to sell branded products. It had a similar design to this stereo, so I'd say your stereo is from the early 90s. I really thrashed that walkman. it's probably still in a box in storage at my parents' place.

Yep, early 90s would be about right. Teac were a pretty reasonable brand I think. Not top line at all - but good value for money!

Probably you already worked it out but just in case......You can record from one cassette to the other. One cassette has the record button the other not. Be careful when play on the recording one avoiding pressing the record button (If a cassette still has the tag on top) and you want to keep some of the music......

There's no way that was made by TEAC. TEAC/TASCAM made studio quality kit. This is a Capetronic type record deck with Tanashin cassette , and these were pretty much the cheapest systems you could buy circa 1990. Someone just rebadged it, it's a knock off probably sold in discount store or even used as a prize at a fairground (I have seen them there!) At least it works, if you had no stereo I suppose you'd be glad of that.

I think there was a lot of re-badging going on back then! Probably happens even more now actually! I sold the unit first weekend for $100!
