Riley is impossible! His understanding and interpretation of kinetic forces and how to implement and execute them in the golf swing is simply incredible. He makes it so simple to understand physiology and kinematics and complimenting the motor movements with the application of science (gravity, COM, centrifugal forces) is just mind-boggling.

Havent watched this video yet But watched some of your other crazy videos this week and shot 72 today! almost had 5 birdies on the spin and im 63yrs old! Only carry it 210! so if i can pick up some more speed from this sub par is next!

For most golf/baseball powerful hitter, there is always a elbow straightening. At impact, the trailing arm is just at the initial state but fully straightened after impact, no exception for any professional player. The biomechanical reason is on: The shorter muscles always move quicker than the bigger one. The part closer to the club is more effective to drive the club. So at the trailing side we should rush the wrist /hands from far behind to far ahead of the elbow and leave the shoulder rotator far behind, even goes backward by a tilting back of the upper chest. Most nonprofessional people overlook the role of shoulder rotation is just like the ancient people thought the sun/moon/stars always running around themselves.

I have lots and lots of vertical force. Going to try and implement some rotational next practice session. What would be the best way to start implementing more rotational force ?

Great video! Do you think players should stick to the type of force they already use the most? For example, I'm a tall, heavy guy, but I'm vertical force dominant(starting to golf as an adult and not understanding how to really use the lower body well maybe caused this?). I would love to be a rotational player, but I find it really hard to get out of my vertical patterns. Am I fighting against something I shouldn't fight? Would I be better concentrating on a more vertical pattern? My coach says some people just aren't supposed to have a really rotational swing, but I love the ideas behind it and the consistency possibilities.

Just need to pair other forces with the vertical so you are well balanced between all of these forces. Also, definitely need a drop between P3 and P4/P5 if the vertical is going to be effective through the strike

Fab description and explanation of the forces - best I’ve seen. The bio mech gurus tell us that the order in the swing should be lateral, rational and vertical in that order. Everyone will have a dominant force from these three depending on a number of factors and knowing which is yours is key. I’m 6’2 and wasted years thinking my dominant force should be vertical but thanks to the amazing instructional videos from Riley TJ and Elite, turns out I benefit much more from being rotational dominant. I’ve added 15mph easy focusing on loading the spirals and rotating the engine. Combined with the optimal kinematic sequence of lower body, trunk and arms/club this should (and does) produce max speed for me. Listen to these guys; they have amazing knowledge and are so generous with it.

After watching TJ, who has more of a rotational swing, it looks like increasing horizontal force complements the rotational forces better than increasing vertical forces would.

gents howzit...I apply all 3 forces to my irons...worked so well...I bought a driving iron...lol...with driver I currently use rotational forces only...I tend to lose some shots to the left...I want to incorporate the vertical force...wrt driver compared to irons...is the dropping of the pelvis a bit more subtle for driver or more exaggerated...with the driver being the longest club...mentally I tell myself not to drop to much

The drop will actually be more with driver but like you said, can’t just abandon the other forces. Rotational is main stabilizer

As a 5ft 7 guy I would be super interested in hearing a deep dive into maximising for my small size and mitigating the common pitfalls that you mentioned here around the 14 minute mark. Would be a cool video series talking about adjustments for different physical types e.g. tall/short/muscle-bound skinny.

During the past decade, I had watched the swing of hundreds of PGA/LPGA players carefully, over and over. I never found any one allowed their head swag back and forth. But is not uncommon for the internet golf coaching.

What a great video! You guys hit on all the points. I've been speed training for a couple years and it really changed things for me. I went from a 7 to a 3 in 3 months. How can you not when you are reaching par 5s in 2 and hitting two less clubs on par 4s? Like so many golfers I was a 220-240 average guy, which was horribly frustrating as I played a lot and am tall and fit, although over 50 now. When I started going hard with the speed training and heavy lifting, I went from a 240-260 max drive to 290-310. (for those new to this, 110 mph will get you 280-300 with good smash/launch and spin). I was wild though (but didn't care because after 12 years of hitting 220-250 I was having so much fun), so after a while I learned to play in a gear that is slightly less than max so I could find the face and fairways, so now I'm a 265-285 guy, which for 52 is fine, although I'm not done yet! One thing I like that you guys emphasize is safety. You have to be careful. It's a fine line of going 100% and moving injuriously. I think lifting heavy and hard (and safe) can help because it gives one the foundation to safely swing faster. Speed training is for everyone because whether you are TJ with PGA speed + (129 omg!!) or you are a senior swinging 70mph, an extra 12.5 yards (the almost guaranteed gain for anyone who hasn't speed trained before) helps. In fact, it probably helps the slow swinger even more. Sorry for the ramble. I just thought I'd chime in. I love your stuff. You guys are the best.

Love your comment that you were wild but fast and having fun. Read an interesting article recently where juniors are now being taught to be fast first and then straight later. Ludvig Åberg commented that he learned to swing fast first and then his coaches straightened him out. The thinking now is that learning to swing fast young is much more beneficial as it’s a skill that is much harder to acquire as we get older but accuracy can be taught at any age.

I am new to your channel of instruction. Great videos and content, By any chance will future videos contain some instructions for Seniors. A lot of us aren’t as flexible so the rotation aspect of the downswing may not be the same, will this affect the golf shot if everything else is done correctly?

Just discovered your channel a few days ago and I really like what I'm seeing. You asked for feedback - one thing that I'd really like to see all golf instructional videos do - is show more volume of actual swings. I think all the talk and detail is helpful and necessary, but it would help me to see more actual swings throughout the video. And then, maybe at the end you could just have a minute or two of consecutive swings? Keep up the great work - I look forward to digging deep!

Great video. Love the way you describe the 3 different forces and how each person can experiment with each. A note about speed training. Last spring I did speed training and it has made a HUGE difference. Definitely make sure your body is ready for it. I spent a month of flexibility/mobility, strength training before I started speed training. We can’t all be young, trim, strong like TJ. Speed training works, but it is definitely work.

Would you recommend a Kyle Birkshire Or Bubba Watson style of front leg lifting and moving more parallel to the target. Really forcing one to open up big time to the target

I just started watching your videos. I love the content and the instructions but I get lost sometimes in your technical explanation of how the body, ribs, arms and hands should move through the swing. I strongly suggest to make your instructions a bit more simple and not so technical.

Great stuff fella’s. I’ve seen increase in clubhead speed, just with technique improvement thanks to your videos. Recently I’ve started trying to bump speed up. Found that just being more dynamic at the start of the backswing has gained me distance. If I take it back faster the more force I can generate when transitioning. I do this as warm up maybe 10 or so swings. The feel my gamin swing is 60 percent, the thing is although I feel 60 percent. The swing speed stays at 90-92 mph with a 6 iron 🤯. Couple this with the technique work, smash factor has gone from 1.25 to 1.4 with the same 6 iron = carry distance up from 165 yards to 185 yards in the space of 3 months. All data collected on my swing caddie launch monitor.

Thanks so much for this! Question: where would you put Ludvig in your "type of force usage" classification? In my eyes he doesn't seem to drop a lot (vertical), and is super stable so probably not that much lateral. And he's a big and tall guy, so I'm guessing mainly rotational. Do you agree?

Hey Dudes I really like the way you explain the swing concept. It’s really easy to understand and effective. I started to change the swing a week ago I actually lost around 10MPH swing speed. Is that normal? Because lack of time. The good news is I hit almost the same yardage with less swing speed. In other words, if I gain the speed back I will hit longer than before. May I have any drills to increase the speed please?

Love it. TJ is making nice progress with his Left Heel Flare. Once it flares, Stomp on it. That engages the Back Chain Spiral. The stick swings are so good. @ 19:40 you really get it going. Note where you got it from. The stick was in your forward quadrant as you drew it back. This engages the Left Obliques and diagonally sends energy from the Left Spiral to the Right Spiral. The velocity was their from the get go. You were able to multiply speed thru all of your systems. The more we train at uncomfortable speed levels that better we become. Great Stuff gents..

@@elitegolfschools TJ a couple of those swings you began to land the left heel a bit. The one with the Driver @ 129 certainly was. Just a note, this heel purchase (new piece of real estate) gives you the direction for your Right Glute to Fall Toward. This gives you your Lateral, Vertical and Rotational Force. Think in terms of drafting your right side behind your left. Keep with it. 👍
