Alright, so I went to the DR a little earlier and was working in the stuff from this video. Something interesting happened that I didn’t expect. I had to change my grip position from strong to almost neutral. I guess now that I’m using my hands correctly and the club is on the correct path in the downswing, I no longer need to have a strong grip to create a draw. After adjusting my grip, my cone of error was a lot tighter and the ball flight had a nice 5-10 yd draw pattern. Also, my shots were more penetrating. Thx guys!

Wanted to thank you for this video. I've taken lessons from a few pros and all they ever say is "rotate more" as I flipped for years. I took this to the course today and omg. Getting my arms and hands into these positions made rotation an instinct and reaction. I hit the ball at least 10 yards further on each club. Took a few swings to get the feeling on the downswing but i felt like I could go hard at the ball and trust it flew straight. Great work and deep dive.

Simply amazing content guys! This helps me better understand the specifics of DJ style release better. I got the backswing feel but couldn't quite replicate it at full speed because I was mostly guessing... I tend to be too tight and a bit of a "control freak" so holding on to my angles too much was causing massive hooks and pull-draws.. I'll check my slomo to see if I need some UD in downswing.. I do turn pretty fast from the top so it's harder for me to sync stuff up so the ealier I can set and forget stuff, the better. Thanks again!!!

After watching this video I relaxed and just let my hands do what felt right for me and I’ve been making better contact and getting closer to my target. And I can actually tell where in my swing, I missed. Like, which part of the sequence my timing was off.

I just found you guys yesterday but your contents have been fire. I have apparently been missing the downswing supination/ulnar deviation move in my golf swing, which leads to me having to straighten my trail elbow to get to the ball during impact. As soon as I actively supinate my trail hand during in my downswing, my downswing is automatically transformed; trail elbow stays bent during impact, I don't lose my posture, and my body rotates way, way more. It is so amazing how a seemingly small change like that can radically improve my overall swing. Can't wait until I hit the range with this. Thanks for the sharing and you guys got a new sub from me, cheers!

Wow, great video guys. This is something I have been working on for a couple weeks and now and I think I finally understand what to focus on. I have been trying to hinge the club with too much RD in my back swing ! Combining pronation with extension of the wrist, given I have a proper turn and left side bend in the back swing, it makes it so much easier for me to transition to the downswing and allows my trail elbow to fall into the slot while keeping the clubface square. My mind has been officially blown lol. Just awesome. Thanks for the help!

I’ve heard Jake Hutt and I believe a few others say that many amateurs don’t have enough UD, which is interesting since we often hear how amateurs tend to early release whereas not enough UD is basically not releasing enough. For me this has been a big help, as I’ve really improved my ball striking and wrist conditions at impact (mostly maintaining some trail wrist extension to better compress the ball) my miss tends to be super thin shots since I’m so used to standing up at impact with my old pattern of having basically no trail wrist extension at impact. Being more conscious of posture and right side bend has helped but I think making sure I’m adding enough UD could be the missing piece. This video was a good demonstration.

The timing of this video is perfect as I have been walking around thinking (and doing wrist movements) about going from flexion to extension with the club lower than my hands (UD). My coworkers are looking at me funny. It is a feeling I have never had before and I have played golf for a long time. When I hit good shots while trying to do it, it feels like I am really compressing the ball and throwing it underhand. Additionally, it feels like the ball is leaving the club face in a place where I have rarely felt it before. Does that make sense? It is hard to describe. This video really explained quite a bit for me. Thank you! Awesome stuff.

Am i correct and which way is better?
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools 6 месяцев назад
Both can be and are wonderful ways to control the face and need to be matched up with certain body movement. However, in each instance you’ll see the COM of the club ride in top of the plane and then work under the plane in transition (our preferred pattern). The variable here is how closed or open is the face based on shaft axis…

My distance and trajectory has improved immensely with the irons and fairway woods with this system and unload. Trajectory is higher and more cary. Stock shot is baby draw to strait. The driver is the one club that I am struggling with, the extension and flexion I find more difficult. Throwing daggers with the irons. Long irons are back in the bag. Driver is short and smothered or pop up. When I catch it it is strong and hot off tha face. I do feel the throw. I use to roll release or hold on too long. I seem to swing better feeling an active release. If I stay too passive the ball hooks more often. I can stay passive if I swing left trying to fade not the most comfortable shot for me. Trusting the fade pattern is a work in progress. The deep dive was great. Please do a deep dive on setup. I must be missing something with the driver? Love the content. I have a tournament this Monday. May have to use my 4 wood off the tee if I can't get my driver more consistent. My swing speed with the irons is high 70s to mid 80s as the club length increases. Putting and when needed chipping was near flawless. I play on a mountain course track. Some of the shots were impacted by slope. Far left pins were my challenge. Making impact early in the backswing. So you don’t have to close the face in transition. If you just did their elbow out transition. The face would super wide open. By presetting it in the early backswing it eliminates that one step. So it can be more fluid

@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools Год назад
It is normal, although it might be easier for you to get that done earlier in the swing. In the load phase 👍🏼

Should the RD be maxed out on the backswing and at transition. I always do this and always fight a hook and low ball flight, I think the max RD promotes my tendency. Thanks for a great video, food for thought!

There’s a correct amount of the move for everyone. Maxing anything out is probably not the right idea, but be curious about how it relates to you

UD during end of transition / unload sometimes makes me produce very low nasty hooks, especially with driver. Why do you think that is?
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools Год назад
Couple that move with pelvis thrust/extension and you get hooks. Get pressure up to the lead side in transition and stay in flexion in the hips longer 🌀

You are getting under plane on the downswing. Need more rotation of the body which moves the club 'out' and on plane, for you. Too much rotation from the top can lead to over plane. The golf swing is about matchups of a few variables.

Hard to argue with DJs on the wrist preset before P2.5…and it does simplify the otherwise busy loading phase…BUT… for your preferred movement and general elastic utilization system…I’m curious why the early wrist load doesn’t cause an inconsistent/early unload. why wouldn’t you let the initial spiral almost create a micro trail wrist flexion (bow) like you do with the limp arms? Or is it just a gentle 60% preset into P2.5 to get things in the right orientation for that final wrist loading going into P5?
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools 5 месяцев назад
It all depends on the player. You are certainly onto something that the spiral line begins to create a wrist set later in the pattern, but some people still hit it great setting it earlier 👍

When you say “rib rotation” closes the club face, do you mean “rib sway”?

Flipping is early unloading, I would drop that word from my vocabulary if I was you. If your body action is correct then you can flip all day long, it’s just a release

Jeffy golf did a post on this that I’m pretty certain Luke bracke agreed with: “How does UD on the downswing shallow the shaft or get the club behind you? It does neither; UD steepens the shaft and doesn’t influence whether the club is more in front or behind you”. I sent you the post on Instagram so you can see
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools Год назад
We say UD rather than supination of trail wrist complex…. Truly it’s maintaining extension with supination but saying supination usually leads to unnecessary opening of the face. So…. Maintaining extension of trail wrist while supinating trail wrist is a shallower that keeps face appropriately closed 🙏

But to have it all together, in detail as a part of a larger system. It's so ridiculously anti-slice, it almost feels like cheating. Thank you!

To me this leads to a debate of something that I don't think is measurable yet. From the "top" : Does a golfer hold radial deviation, throw ulnar deviation, or remain passive? I had a coach, very well known, who taught that one the little-know secrets of the golf swing is that good players, knowingly or not, throw the angle from the top (ulnar deviation). I tried this and I had instant results with long clubs. Other coaches will teach the opposite. The GEAR heads will argue that you don't throw it. But GEARS really can't measure this. The idea of throwing it is that you can't see it because the turn "negates" it. I opine that most players would be best off thinking of it as an "open hinge". It is neither thrown nor held, it simply reacts to the body. When a player goes from the top and creates additional angle between the shaft and forearm, this is due to an open hinge reacting to the movement of the body: the arms still going up and the weight shift and crunch (hip hinge, right side bend, spiral etc). It appears to me you guys might fall in the "open hinge" camp (relaxed muscles lead to speed), if you are even willing to have this debate based on this framing. What sayeth you? (Love this vids, obvs)

From top of BS to impact is less than 1/4 second. A time frame insufficient for movement of hands to be under conscious control. There is no way to know position of hands in space during that 1/4 second. That being the case, please explain what the suggested intention at top of BS that will result in the hand action you describe. (description is more detailed and thorough than any other, I have heard/read) kudos

@dtgps

@@elitegolfschools My point is that once the DS begins, there is nothing we can do consciously during less than 1/4 second. We have "time" at the top of the BS for a singular intent. That is all there is .. then impact. Please look into this. For years instructors and gifted athletes have provided well meaning instruction, that is impossible for humans to perform consciously. In less than 1/4 second it has to be a subconscious, chain action initiated by a singular intent. Change any link within the chain action and the intent has to be changed. Over ride your subconscious and we stumble, just as we stumble when we attempt to consciously control every move when we walk down stairs.

Now, can you make content on speed? You are so much aware of human physiology that I bet you can. Same way you build up a full swing through all human systems, could you build up a speed contribution? Moving club head speed from 100 to 105-110-115-130 mph.
