I've been going to crossfit most of the winter, mixed with some roller work and weekend rides. What a difference its made! Lots of power, no aching bits. It would have taken me months of hill reps to get the kind of power I have now!

After an operation to repair muscular damage to my abdomen earlier this year, I have been doing very similar exercises to gradually build up muscle & improve performance. Take it easy with short sessions at first. gradually increase session time each week & you will be surprised at how much better you feel as you improve over time. Makes a big difference on the bikes. Now back into Fat Bike trials and having more fun on XC, DH & freeride bikes. At trail heads or summits take a break, do a short session of the exercises, relax & enjoy the scenery for a few minutes. Then give it plenty down hill and enjoy!. Gets better with every ride and always generates top grinnage :-)

If the frame on 3:30 was in the caption competition, the winning caption should be "Draw me like one of your french girls". It's the definition of this meme

If you want to be extremely specific with your training, it really depends on what kind of XC you do, as XC is... well, extremely unspecific.

What about legs? I can only manage around 100 watts in a relatively flat circuit, Should I just try to go as fast as possible at all times?

Hi gmbn, as a predominantly road biker, would these exercises be relevant to road biking? Or would you recommend other more specific exercises?
@gmbn
@gmbn 7 лет назад
These exercises would definitely work great for road too, however a strong core sin't quite as vital for road as mtb.

Ex 2 for core? Rather minimal effort in my opinion. Maybe not waste of time because some flexing is necessary, however, there are more effective ways to activate rectus, not psoas. Psoas is fired so much anyway during pedalling.

Why is it so important to breath out when you're giving power?
@tariqhunter5547
@tariqhunter5547 7 лет назад
something with the oxygen and your muscles, I think it allows them to expand more
@Be4tJumper
@Be4tJumper 7 лет назад
i think because naturally people tend to hold their breath and if they do this they'll get less oxygen and could pass out.
@CanIHasThisName
@CanIHasThisName 7 лет назад
I think it has partly to do with the fact it's more efficient. Especially with exercises which test the chest area, when you output power, you're applying some pressure on your lungs, so it's harder to breathe in.
