There's literally one way to get through it. You have to move!! Walk, run, gym, just physical work. I've been through withdrawal more than I can count and the times I was forced to work (labor intensive) paws ended very quickly. When I had off time and laid around, it literally didn't end. If you exercise, you WILL get out of paws. The energy does come back.

This comment is very encouraging. I have started going thru PAWS & the fatigue/brain fog sucks almost as bad as the lack of motivation and apathy. I haven't been pushing myself to do things as much bc of physical/mental symptoms. I hope it ends someday but I am only 4 months in getting off methadone. Cold turkey. I've been through the most rough of the withdrawal where I did not sleep, could not eat, and mental health declined for a bit. Those things are thankfully better now. Hopefully they will continue to get that way. I still have a lot of problem with pins and needles in my legs/feet which I'm told comes from PAWS. Temperature irregularity too. I'd love for this to be over.

Man. The Paws is brutal. The 5 days of physical withdrawal is a picnic compared to the full on anxiety and misery that comes after. The cravings and restlessness are so intense that I feel like either using or topping myself. I've always suffered with depression so for me it's just magnified when I come of heroin.

I just got 6 months clean after detoxing from methadone, oxycodone, klonopin, and phentermine. I am in PAWS now. Went through it a couple of times since being sober. It is scary. You feel like shit physically mentally and emotionally. But it does go away. I feel the same things that triggered my addiction triggers the PAWS. Isolating, change, stress, but once you recognize what's happening and that it is temporary it's not as scary. It does make it tough to get through the day sometimes. I still get the fog too. It comes and goes. Stay around people who understand and reach out. You are not alone...:)

Iam coming off 8mg of suboxone cold turkey for about 5 years. Its only been a week, and the physical symptoms are mostly gone, but this PAWS is killing me. I cant sleep, and really want to use. any advice?
@artemisiak677
@artemisiak677 7 лет назад
MrMagee78 Paws can last up to five years. Scary I know. I had no idea my self. But it comes and goes. I find that exercise, supplements, sleep, eating healthy, drinking water and meditation really help. It takes time for the body to heal.. I'm going to be 2 years sober this August and still can't sleep like I used to. Melatonin, Valerian root, lavender oil, and music helps. I have to still take Seraquil and hydroxyzine to sleep but it's getting better. Also, don't over do it. If you get tired let your body rest. It can be a rollercoaster ride at first but that's normal. Just hang in there and don't give up..and when you get down reach out and stay around other people in recovery to help you though it. Very important. You have to have a sober community. I work at a rehab and that's what helps me the most. It's my other family and I couldn't do it without them. ❤ Good luck!!

5 years?! I cant feel like this for five years is it every day for five years ,or on and off?
@artemisiak677
@artemisiak677 7 лет назад
MrMagee78 Everyone is different.. it can last up to 5 yrs, but it comes and goes. It can be mild or severe. But I believe that the more you take care of your body & soul the better you're going to feel. Everything starts in the mind..then the body follows. Spend time outside and in nature. Laugh. Don't take life too seriously. One day at a time. Fear= anxiety. sadness= depression. You can do this!! (:

I am alone too. Agoraphobic/PTSD/severe depression and anxiety preexisting to degenerative disc disease which has left me with legitimate severe pain. Along with my psychiatric meds I have been on oxy and Norco for a long time. I chose to ween off my pain pills on my own. Only my therapist knows. I am determined too although my back despite surgery hurts so bad. I believe I'm in paws this second, for days I'm so cold can't sleep and omg my stomach it doesn't stop. My gp of 20 years told me 4 months ago that he could no longer prescribe after that visit. I had 4 months to figure it out. I refuse and cannot go to a pain clinic, I'll be stressed to death. It's not worth signing my life on their contract......I liken it to parole. I'm 45 for gods sake and haven't been in trouble in my life. It's really hard to be dual diagnosed, I know quitting opiates is the right thing and I'll be damned if I let it drive me crazier. God bless Ryan for these videos they are like meetings for the socially challenged. I wonder if he really knew how many he helped before he passed. God rest Ryan's soul in heaven and be forever with his young family! Hang in there know you're not alone in suffering for the greater good.

Im 2 months sober from 5 years daily use of weed and I still have these symptoms. I feel numb and foggy and I can barely communicate and look people in the eye. Even with people I’ve known my whole life. It really sucks, I never used to be like this. I was happy and energetic. I quit to get rid of these symptoms but they persist. I’m exercising every day, meditating, staying positive. I feel like I fucked myself and I’m permanently stuck like this. I want my personality back and my inner child back. I am going thru same thing except what I detoxed off was methadone, cold turkey, after over 13 years. What you've said, is EXACTLY how I feel. I have a life, yes but feel like a person I don't know anymore. I have no motivation/energy, etc etc. It is very discouraging to have to go through this stuff. I just want my life back. Focus, determination. Not the apathy I feel now. It sucks. For all intents and purposes it's said that things get better. That our minds/bodies are repairing themselves after being on these substances for years. I hope it gets better for you, you are not alone in how you feel.

Damn it's almost hard to watch his videos now knowing that he isn't here with us anymore. You can see he was totally ready to devote his whole life to helping ppl like us. Not saying that's the only reason that his death is sad but the reality of this whole addiction thing is that "we" (as addicts) are still fighting an uphill battle as far as the stigma of an addict is concerned.. we can't afford to be losing any of the few that are clean but still have our backs and want to help us. Most ppl feel we should all just be eradicated. "Just line em all up and shoot em, problem solved" are things I've heard different ppl say on different occasions and as bad as that sounds some ppl actually say worse. Which is why we have to have eachothers backs because not too many others care too. Anyway.. R.I.P to this young man and in the mean time like I said we've gotta have eachothers backs cuz we really are all we got. Everyone struggling with addiction no matter it be you or a loved one. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get thru it. I'm currently goin thru the same thing.. I've considered the vivitrol shot but some of the possible side effects of that scared me away from it. But at this point I'm willing to try anything. Does anyone have or know someone that has experience with vivitrol that can possibly put my mind at ease a bit? Any little bit of info will help. And again everyone in the mean time good luck. I love all of you

Thanks for the video. One month totally clean. I used a slow taper method to get off of subs to the point I put one strip diluted in alcohol/water and then microwaved the alcohol off. What was left was about 30ml and then I just used one drop/day. Then after 2 weeks of that I just jumped off. Going through some PAWS now....low energy, depression, incessant yawning, etc. The yawning is the worst to where tears are rolling down my face. I also have cravings but those are getting less and less. I refuse to take suboxone ever again. It was causing long-term chronic pain. It is good to know that what I am going through is normal post-subs.

@milliefusion7340
@milliefusion7340 6 лет назад
Congratulations on 9 days clean. I think you are past the worst of immediate withdrawal symptoms. Paws are still hard to go through, but I can tell you that now I am 1.5 months post subs, that it is getting much, much better. Paws is different for everyone. But if you continue on your path, the symptoms will get better. I think you should do thorough research on: PAWS, Suboxone, and bupenorphine. Research all of the side-effects of the medications and the symptoms of PAWS, duration, etc. You also need to weigh the pros and cons of your situation. Of course, the better of the choices is to keep going as you are doing because that will be better for baby. It would be more ideal to be free of any narcotic than to be on one. But again, do your research, speak to your doctor about it. I would ONLY consider going on subs or bupenorphine IF you find that you cannot take the withdrawal sx, or you are considering going back on oxy's. I can say these paws symptoms will not last forever. Right now do what is best for the baby, and I implore you to talk more with your doctor before making any decisions. Wishing you the best!!

MrMagee78 stay strong! Im on 12 day off 8mg subutex that I used for years mixing it with H. Its getting better and better! Since the 3day that Ive been walking 10km everyday. It help a lot! Other thing is drink tons of alcaline Water, drink one glass of lemon Juice before eating, stay with someone that knows and loves you. Eat wealthy food as more biológic as you can! Supply yourself with magnesium and other nice suplements rich in vitamins and minerals. For the diarreia take one Imodium. Im still fighting against insonnia...I try to tire myself as much as can and I dont sleep during day time. Before go to sleep I take valeriana root and some muscular relax pills. This Method as been working for me and, after day 3 is been better and better everyday! Stay strong brother!

Exercise helps. Thanks for the note to just do more of it, even when I feel like a slug. I just ordered some L-Phenylalanine ( an amino acid that gave me some energy.) The biggest problem is anhedonia. It all seems to come in waves. Sometimes I feel good but then I go days of feeling really depressed and like I can't care about anything. Dry sauna also really helps me with endorphins, but I am away visiting family and can't get to one for weeks and PAWS hit me pretty hard.

I was only on 2mg clonazepam (benzo) daily for 1.5 years, got off in may 2017 last year but still going through brain fog/ breathing problems/ gut disturbances/ panic disorder and in a constant fight flight mode with hypervigilance everywhere I go/ noise and light sensitivity/ exrreme mood swings and irritability leaving me suicidal/ extremely numb and apathetic towards other peoples feelings and life situations (this is probably one of worst symptoms)/ anger outbursts/ brain wont stop with thoughts/ brain zaps every now and then/ low fatigue and low energy. @ermacjones4821 5 лет назад
Hey buddy, you're in a whole different level of hell, I know what you mean. The problem is that you were on a pretty moderate dose of a pretty strong benzodiazepine for a pretty long time. I don't think you're having PAWS, I think you're probably still in straight up benzodiazepine withdrawal. It can take way longer than opiates and it's much more severe. It can be dangerous as well, it's horrible, I'm sorry you're dealing with it. You may want to consider getting medical help with a taper plan to come off of that.
@ermacjones4821

Oh, nevermind, I just read your comment again, you got off last year? Yeah that makes sense, it's crazy how horrible benzos are, I'm glad you've made it this long, it will get better, and there are things you can do in the mean time for the symptoms.

I have been randomly falling down. Over nothing! I just fell. Probably due to going cold turkey in January 2019 from Effexor and the monster, Klonopin. I was completely unable to do the most simple tasks. I live alone in a new city and the loneliness and detachment from everything and everyone was terrifying. I fell 7 times when I went outside to take my dog for a walk. Never again. I would rather be a miserable, anxiety ridden mess than to take Klonopin again. As smart as I thought I was about medication, I found out that I really wasn’t.

Some sugar is necessary for your diet, wheat has been a part of human diets for centuries a long with dairy and provide essential carbohydrates for energy and probiotics for digestion. Those doctors "who know nothing about health" are the same ones you're listening to now telling you wheat will kill you, dairy is deadly, eggs are terrible, etc. Every individual has different needs, I suggest you learn about yourself and your body and find nutritional needs that fit you. Just because your friend has a gluten allergy doesn't mean that gluten is poison and you should avoid it....
