In this video I show a very popular method of growing yams. The minisette method can get us between sixteen and twenty yam seedlings per yam if done correctly. I show a few tips to ensure you get a healthy disease resistant harvest.
Wow!! I can tell you're not an amateur at this. I once ordered yam mini sets from the University of Ibadan (leading researchers in the field). I was mind blown how much work they have put into the studies. Unfortunately, US customs siezed my yams mini sets 😂 Thank you so much for sharing such amazing knowledge. I'll be getting down to growung my yams now.
Such a pity the mini setts were seized. The crop s from UI always grow wonderfully. Oh yes great research on several tropical crop. Shamefully a lot of these results are not extended for wide usage by farmers in the catchment communities of UI.... as the setts are/were so expensive. It is rewarding to grow yams if you're in a tropical state in the US. Goodluck
Oh wow Lilian!! That was an amazing tutorial! Really appreciated the tips on the onions and the benefits to root vegetables….. really well explained tutorial my dear friend 💝💕💐🙌🏼
Always love a good gardening video and some great ideas and tips on how to grow things in the garden. I have a very small yard and a very small food garden but I do have one and I always love watching all these awesome tips you shared with us hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie
Very well done tutorial, easy to understand and follow. It's always nice to learn new stuff with you as you share your gardening wisdom and experience. Very useful and informative!
Lillian you are a genius and life saver. Your video on yam cultivation is simple, concise and easy to understand. I now know the importance of Dettol and onions on root crops. Using readily available materials make things easier for the farmers. God bless you. ❤ 🙏👏😀
You always have great information and I never thought to use onions knowing how healthy they are for humans now I am going to make sure I keep onions as companion plants!
Very nice and well done dear princess, I want to know is it staple food of your area? As in our country we like bread made from wheat flour we eat every thing with this bread.
Yes, you are right Prof, this is our staple food. We eat it morning and afternoon everyday in different forms. We also make snacks out of it. Stores for months as well. Oh yes just as you eat different foods made of wheat. Thanks for being here.
Oh yes that's exactly the topic of this video. I'm trying to grow yam seedlings. These sets are the perfect size for that. In fact I have successfully harvested my yam seedling four days ago. I'll post video in a few days.
