How to hand tie a silicone bass jig

This is really cool, I'm thinking about trying to get set up to tie jigs so im not contantly dropping 20 bucks everytime I head to the gander outdoor store

Tying is so superior to banding for bass jigs…you can really consider things and layer your colors thoughtfully. I have a bluegill pattern that’s certainly not *impossible* using bands but it’s much much easier to tie. Not only that but you can build in your desired level of durability. I like to add a coat of waterthin CA on my initial jam knot wraps to anchor them down, tie, then hit the outside with a coat of CA or UV resin. I trust that a lot more than a small rubber band…especially as time goes on. It doesn’t crumble like rubber (especially the cheap stuff). The only tricky bit is whip finishing. It’s about as difficult to whip finish a bass jig as it is to whip finish a parachute adams. Sometimes I’ll just use a bunch of half hitches then resin.

Great video! Well done sir. Have any thoughts on wire versus thread? I'm going to start using some living rubber with my silicone. I think the wire will work better. I would like your opinion.

Wound be easy if u don’t put the weedguard and once u done the skirt put the weedguard

Where do you get your football head jigs?

I use a brush one glue so much easier. also I usually wait to put in weed guard last after skirt is on. looks good though

What size thread

Be easier to tie if you put weed guard on after you tie

What size thread do you recommend?

Why wouldn’t you leave the weed guard out till after it was tied so you didn’t have to deal with going around it?
