Yes. Me too. It’s opening my eyes, I washed my hair almost every day since I was about 15 years. I’m into my 6th decade now and I’m still doing it. I have to say my hair has always been in “good condition” until now. Now my ends are dry and frizzy. I can’t bear how my head feels on the second day without washing, so I don’t make it three days without washing. 😢 I’m going to try very hard to follow the advice given here. I hate being sweaty, I don’t go to the gym. I don’t like dry shampoo, maybe I’m not using it properly. I have an Aquis hair towel, have been using them since I was given one as a Christmas present in 1997. I won’t use a Terry towel now. So much to learn, so many bad habits to change. 😮

VIDEO REQUEST/IDEA: What suggestions do you have for us pro athletes? I work on a horse farm and between my riding helmet and the sweaty work of riding well, plus a normal day walking an average of 15k steps; my hair and scalp get pretty sticky (fine hair per your video run down). I would imagine ski instructors (also helmets!), gymnasts, competitive martial artists, and others might have the same question as I do-as in what can we do for our hair to be as healthy as possible?
@KendraClendineng
@KendraClendineng Год назад
I imagine you’d have to wash your hair everyday if your wearing a helmet for a long time and also if you have a job where you’re getting dirty. As much as you can masking sure your helmets clean and shampoo and condition every day. If you want to style your hair everyday I’d focus on mainly heat less styles that you can set in your hair the night before. Just make sure your hair isn’t too wet when you put your hair into the heatless styler or it usually won’t dry by morning. More damp than wet works best.

Totally can relate! I don't see other way as washing the hair more often, or at least I haven't found a way, but in that case also use a very mild shampoo and wash once (BP advocates for washing twice, but I think it makes sense only only when you're extending the time between the washes) If the hair gets sweaty ane dirty, and I mean the dirt not just from the naturally oily scalp but generally, for me it was also many many floorwork routines, basically polishing the floor with sweaty hair😅. So yeah, I haven't found a way to extend the washes beyond every other day. Now I don't practice to that degree anymore, and it's waaaaaay different to not be dripping sweat on a daily basis. Way, way, different. Hair, skin, make up (I can actually wear make up now), the whole routine/care is different. Most of the tips out there simply don't work if one works out daily, many hours a day, starting from the morning and continuing at various intervals throughout the whole day. I guess at some point, you just learn to just live in in your own sweat and dirt 😅.

I remember when I was making an appointment for my hair for my wedding day, and they asked me not to wash my hair for at least a week beforehand. Considering I feel best if I workout at least once a day, that was the sweatiest, grossest week of my life. I feel like this works for people who do the bare minimum at the gym to be healthy, but that is not me. I LOVE working out, and don't want to minimize it so my hair looks nice.

@joane24
@joane24 Год назад
Totally agree. Also living sweat and oil on my scalp would cause a breakout on my scalp. I used to be a dancer, so sweating multiple times a day, all day long🙃. I would wash my hair every other day (and it was pushing it, but I didn't want to wash it too often), only sometimes every day especially if lots of floorwork (routines on the floor, so your hair get not only sweaty but dirty as well). These advices to not wash for a week or so before an updo are for those who don't work out, won't sweat as much, etc.
@biblicallyaccuratecockroach
@@joane24 Absolutely. My hair can go 3-4 days without washing no problem... when I don't work out. Martial arts is sweaty, dirty work. Washing it after every session is a necessity. I've learned to reduce the amount of product I use to protect the hair, using better products and better techniques, but every other day shampooing is unavoidable. As much as I'd like to do everything by the book for best results I'm not willing to compromise my physical health and hygiene for what ultimately is more for vanity than anything else, even if I AM a vain bitch with ambitious hair growth goals lol.

Completely disagree. I workout in the Texas heat for 1.5 hours a day and sweat my ass off 5-6 days a week. A mix of running, weightlifting, and CrossFit. I wash once a week. If I have to, I’ll use a healthy dry shampoo. Works good for me. I’ve got my hair used to it. If you’re washing everyday or often, you’re removing the natural oils and your hair will over compensate by producing more. I used to wash every other day, years ago. Sometimes I will rinse my hair. No shampoo, and condition, deep condition, hair oil.

I don't wash my hair everyday too. Which where I live is a standard. Growing up i was very lazy when it came to my hair, so I only washed it once a week. Then as I started to care more about my hair, I started splurging on professional shampoos and noticed my hair wouldn't get oily throughout the school week and on weekends it was dry shampoo and updos until I washed it on Sunday. But here the norm is to wash your hair everyday and I get a lot of dirty looks when I say I only wash mine once a week. I just don't need to wash it more often. I think that comes because a lot of women here are not taught properly how to take care of their hair and use drugstore shampoos.

In my opinion and observation, and I'm no expert, but blow drying sweaty hair is not the best. I noticed the sweat actually dries up the hair, so there's no way I'm gonna exacerbate the process by blow drying. I mean I did that sometimes with the fringe after a class/rehearsal (used to be a dancer), and it ended up looking awful (matted and lifeless) and not fresh anyway. I don't see other way as washing the hair more often, or at least I haven't found a way, but in that case also use a very mild shampoo and wash once (BP advocates for washing twice, but I think it makes sense only only when you're extending the time between the washes) If the hair gets sweaty ane dirty, and I mean the dirt not just from the naturally oily scalp but generally, for example as a dancer there was many floorwork routines, stretching on the floor, so basically you're polishing the floor with your sweaty hair😅. Dry shampoo just makes my scalp and the oils feel worse, not better. If there was an actual dry shampoo that helped clean the hair (break down and dry up the oils) I'd be on board with it. He should come out with his own hair care line. I bet he's working on it.

I wash just my bangs. Everyday. I can’t go more than one day or they just feel gross and look gross. I think it changes the entire look of my hair by just having clean bangs. Depending on what you find easier I will either leave just my bangs out of my shower cap when I take a shower and wash them in the shower- this can take a little getting used to and usually get a little of the hair around your ears wet that you will have to restyle- or I will just wash them in the sink. A tiny drop of shampoo and rinse under the faucet. Changed everything. And I hate dry shampoo in my bangs. I find that since they get trimmed frequently enough they can handle they restyling and washing daily. For reference I have color treated hair and get my bangs trimmed every 4-8 weeks depending on how short we went and how lazy I’m being about going in for a bang trim. At 8 weeks they are usually hanging my eyelashes and driving me mad and I’m eyeballing the scissors.

I've been going a couple days now without washing & feel so proud of myself haha this is a game changer for me for sure!! I totally agree that the bangs can handle the daily washing & styling 😃😃😃

So what do you suggest if you don’t have much of a choice (aka actual hard labor) about when and how much you sweat? Like sweat pouring down your face everyday? Loving the results of following your trifecta, however this just can’t apply to everyone. If Florida suddenly didn’t have air conditioning, what would you suggest? With my new job dry shampoo would be absolutely pointless, and if you already have genetically oily skin/scalp- and are trying to rebound from extreme fallout… the last thing I want to do is clog the scalp!! Thank you! Sincerely - confused in an old inn without an elevator in Massachusetts (climbing a skyscraper no air conditioning cleaning floors along the way number of steps lol) (wish I was joking)

I’m wondering if smell is ok when not washing head everyday. I don’t like how my fingers smell when I touch or massage my scalp in the evening even on a wash day. And what about sweaty people, we just sweat throughout a day, when being late somewhere, or when walking fast, anxious, too warm sweater on, in a subway, scalp is always sweating too… so don’t get it

I've been watching all of your videos and love the strategy behind your healthy routine! I actually already had most of the products you recommend, but I was using them differently or in combination with other products that probably weren't necessary. Now I'm following your recommendations and it's been going great for the past couple of weeks!! My struggle is with achieving three days between washes AND maintaining my workout routine. It's no problem at all if I don't work out. Three days, easy. But add a workout on the second day plus a shower... hair is ruined! The headband makes it a million times worse! And the shower cap only helps the tiniest bit. Previously, I wasn't even taking a full shower. I would simply dip into a bath for a quick body wash and the steam impact was significantly less. These tips don't work as well for someone with thin or fine hair, and I'd LOVE any suggestions for that hair type. For me, the combo of thin hair with a very sweaty head while working out, leaving me stuck choosing between valuing my hair versus my body, and it's been a life log struggle. Inevitably, I wash my hair after every workout (unless it's a day when no one will see me and I'm willing to tolerate gross hair for one more day)...

HELP HELP HELP What about south asian countries where we may even sweat even when we are lying with full speed fan?! and its always humid ..and we may not shampoo regularly..but we cannot imagine our days without putting water in our hair everyday..like we will have headache without that, its hot , our heads need to cool down... Also countries like us don't have professional shampoo that you recommend,but even if we manage to buy them online somehow,they are super costly which is like 1/4 th of the money we even earm monthly.... so what about us???????

I can go longer then 3 days, but I recently read that if you don't wash the sweat/bacteria of your scalp, your scalp will be less healthy/makes hair grow slower/less healthy. Is this true?
