Hey Loves, hope you enjoyed this video. My intentions are to make people less afraid of using heat and to show how it has helped my hair. I silk press my hair every 3-4 weeks but I do take breaks and do treatments and trims consistently! Any questions, leave them in the comment section.

I straighten my hair every two weeks and I have NO heat damage . I have 4a/4b hair curls that always revert back . My stylist told me to never flat iron on dirty hair . And Deep condition at every wash. Ive been doing this for 5 years . It works !

Oh you’re just who I need. Would you be willing to share what you do prior to flat ironing your hair every two weeks? Do you put on any products before you blow dry or flat iron? I have 4b hair and have been back and forth about heat training it. I feel like it’s the best route for me, but want to make sure I start off on the right foot.

@@dwing8187 i use a clarifying shampoo . Then a moisturizing shampoo . Then I Deep condition. I use either design essentials , olaplex or kenra For these steps . Then I use its a 10 miracle silk leave in . Like 2 sprays in my hand and i work it through . Then I use a dime size of chi silk infusion . Then I section and blow dry ! And then flat iron . Oh thank you so much for being so willing to share! So after you apply your leave in then your chi silk infusion serum, you blow dry your hair. After you blow dry it, do you apply any other products prior to flat ironing? Lastly, what heat settings do you use?

Heat training made my hair grow long, helped me with length retention etc, and It keeps your hair stretched. I do it every month, 2 passes on 410-419 degrees and my hair is colored, wrap my hair every night with satin or silk. And get trims every 6 months

i am so pro heat...i tried the "curly girl" natural journey for years...and my hair is its most healthy in a stretched state. my hair is thicker, it sheds less and retains more moisture. my routine is: i do have to pre-poo and deep condition with heat EVERY wash...but I kinda did that anyway. I style my hair in blow outs, textured flat iron, or roller sets, or I go to the salon for a silk press. I am not sure if my curls are looser because the curls are consistent and the ends still coil. I usually wear my hair in a protective style for 6-8 weeks, then loose and stretched for 6-8 weeks. If I want a break with no added hair I mini twist my hair (on blown out hair) and that lasts for like 3-4 weeks. DASSIT.

i’ve been heat training my hair by blow drying a couple times a month (i have 4b/4c hair) and i dyed it and it’s still so healthy. i’ve cut my ends and moisturized my hair and it’s so beautiful. my curls are looser(stretched) and length retention which i love and my hair over all looks better and is easier for me to maintain. 🥺💕

I go to the salon twice a year now, and it's worked out pretty well. I went natural in 2015 and my hair has thrived like never before. Like you, in the Spring and Summer I wear my natural curls because my hair loves the water. *I never knew how imperative water is to our hair* it just slops it up; and then I use olive oil, and a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Shea butter works wonders in the summer as well. our hair is so versatile and beautiful it dont make no sense lol. This technique is good. I have heat trained hair as well, but i did mine how they do in Dominican hair salons. They wash, deep condition, roller set, and then blow dry the hair and i was doing this once a week and about 5 months in my hair no longer reacted to humidity in the air. My curl pattern did loosen up a bit i went from 3C/4A to about a 3B. I just make sure to deep condition once a week and use products that contain light protein since my hair doesn’t like harsh protein treatments.

So glad I found this video! I used to heat train my hair without realising it’s what I was doing and the styles would last so long and it grew! I was uneducated and ultimately damaged it by not looking after it well but after a bc & many years of growing it with back to back protective styles, I want to wear my hair out and enjoy the fruits of me labour. But yo I’ve really struggled to wear it naturally, it breaks a LOTS MORE when it’s curly because of single strand knots, it looses moisture so quickly, i never know what I’ll wake up looking like so it causes me anxiety because a style failing can really derail a day at work - it’s a lot! I’m gonna start heat training again but with all the knowledge I’ve picked up over the years :) thank you

I use to get the single knots a lot. I don’t get them that much anymore. Turned out I was combing wrong for my hair. I comb from the end to the root because that is what they tell you to do but it gave me those knots. So know I untangle my hair from the ends and comb or brush from root.

2 things that my hairstylist said that stuck with me is; 1. Natural hair doesn’t equal healthy hair! 2. ALL her natural clients heat train and have hair down to their waist She specialize in natural hair and said naturals can’t tell the health of their hair bc they’re scared to straighten their hair due to heat damage. keeping it curly gives an illusion of health but you won’t know for sure unless you straighten it to see. I thought my hair was so healthy when i first went to her. My hair was bra strap length upon pressing for the first time in 2 years it was so damaged from lack of trims it was uneven density throughout my hair 🥺. If she were to take off all the damaged hair i would have been back to big chop length 😭. She took off an inch and we agreed to gradually cut the rest. She gave me homework told me what i needed to do at home and what products to use. 8 months later my 4a hair has never been so healthy & thick and i have about 3 inches left to cut off the ends but overall my hair is very thick throughout and it’s longer than when i first went to her . My hair has never been this long and healthy at once. I’m on my way to waist length a goal i had since i first went natural 11 years ago never seemed to achieve. She said its safe to blow dry my hair weekly as long as i use heat protectant and focus on moisture with heat during my deep treatments (bc i had protein overload) She also has natural hair that is heat trained and her hair is waist length and soooooo gorgeous and healthy🫠🤧. I only wish i had met her when i first became natural 11 years ago

Can you still use gel when heat training your hair?

These are the answers I always want. Like which products can be in your hair as you blowdry/flat iron.

How do you heat train your hair if you sweat in your scalp? I work out 3/4 a week and my hair just reverts back to being curly soon as I'm done.

They say put it in a bun and then wrap it in a scarf and then workout, shower, but do not remove the scarf at all until your hair is completely dry...so 20-30mins post workout/shower.

Hey, could you do a video about products other than the olaplex that are good for the hair? I've just started heat training last week using olaplex treatments, thanks to you :) Very early days but I'm excited to see how it turns out x

Can you heat train with just blow drying like with revair?
@shelltalkshair

Not really. But using the rev air seems to be less damaging

Why shouldn't we deep condition more than 1-2 times a month?
@shelltalkshair
@shelltalkshair 2 года назад
You can over moisturize the hair and cause Hygral fatigue.

DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOUR HAIR. Some ppl deep condition every week and there hair flourishes. Don't listen to these youtubers who only tell you what's good for them. It's all about trial and error with YOUR OWN hair.

Can you really put heat on your hair twice a month????? I’ve been getting my hair done as a male every 2-4 months because I’m scared of heat damage😭💀

All this video talked about was damage and split ends. Where's the part that actually talks about how to heat train natural hair?
@DFRKR
@DFRKR Год назад
You know but then you're like oh you know my hair like the curls don't look good my hair freezes out all the time you know and stuff like that it's because you're doing this this is just a manageable level of damage this is just one of the levels of damage before it gets to the undesirable level of damage so this is just a desirable level of damage but you're still damaging your hair I would definitely recommend if you're like a perm hair person and you know for a fact you like perms and that's it and it's going to be like your lifelong thing that you're never going to not want you know then heat train you know maybe you don't have the money or maybe you just don't want to always use the chemicals like you know maybe you're like a boho person you know like a hippie person but you don't want to use all the chemicals and things like that to get your hair straight so you can do this you can heat train you can use heat on your hair on a regular basis and it can be straight longer and with greater ease that'll be my top recommendation over getting a chemical perm but if natural hair is your thing and you know that natural hair and everything that comes with it curls shrinkage all that stuff if you know that that's your thing and you know that that's basically something that you're always going to come back to or something that you're always going to want you never want to eat because little by little those girls are going to go away that's what he training is that's what it does and that's not repairable it's not fixable you know maybe a protein treatment to your curls or can't snap back a little bit more than before but ultimately it's over

You said the words "press" your hair, but the captions read "suppress". Even though this was an accident, this could still happen as an African woman living in an country of suppression. Often having to wear wigs and use straightening combs in order to fit in with the norm. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U48565qmqUk.html
