Yelling is actually a trigger and will cause me to shut down further usually, so if you yell while I’m already dissociating…? Yeah… Gonna shut down SO hard it’s like a computer crashed.
Thank you sm man, I’ve been struggling to help my partner who has a massive dissociation issues and currently it’s so bad he can’t feel anything, hot or cold. It’s truly scary to see some one you love like this, and I find myself panicking because I don’t know what to do, especially when it’s on call and I can’t help physically ground them. Thank you for the tips
All the symptoms are spot on especially the blinking a lot part 😂. I love how much Hornet (or whoever else did it too) researched to give an educated presentation, I am so happy to have someone I can trust to help me understand my disorder better.
aw i’m so glad you trust us, we will always always do our best to only spread factual information and things that help. we want to be someone that people can trust! sending positivity your way 💖 -mina
Fantastic advice! Great video. Totally appreciate this. Will use it to help friends and family learn how to respond. That's how good this video is. Thank you! Excellent!:)
This is so helpful! I dissociate, but I still watched it and it felt so validating and covered many aspects that people often get wrong about how to approach someone dissociating.
I’m really late, this video is extremely helpful because I am currently in a relationship with an alter in a system. is there by any chance, a how to help with dissociation over text? My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship.
You were wonderful Hornet, and this video was great. I haven't seen so much great advice on dissociating before. I love the cookies and bubbles breathing tip!! Thank you😻
Hi Hornet, great advice, thanks. I'll definitely use this video. Sorry for the late comment, I can't always be here to watch on the day the video is posted :(. I always keep an eye out for new videos from you when I am though. Really great video, thanks for posting, and for doing what you do.
her name is Hornet because we were like 5 when she came around, and our child brain thought it would be a cool name i guess 😂 she's also a bit territorial and aggressive like a hornet so yea maybe thats why she chose that name? 😲 -Minnie
So glad to see this update. My favorite people. Always my favorite videos but I needed it right now. I love every single one of you. So much. 🖤 I’m so sad, hurt and struggling. My life changed forever in horrible ways and I’m broken. I don’t wanna be here anymore 💔
My friend is also my ex. She dissociates often but primarily when things are good between us. It must be conflicting for her since she’s seeing someone else. I know that I’m the only one with the drive and interest in psychology who could let her know what’s happening to her or help her, and if I see her I will try to use this advice. But I think it’s best if I leave her alone because if me helping her makes it worse for her then I’m not sure it’s good for her. Painful for me but to be honest, I want her to heal; I think she has a lot of unresolved trauma. But so do I so I can’t always be with someone who feels like an avoidant type because I am an anxious type and she unintentionally makes me feel inadequate because the better I do the more like air she treats me. But based on this video I think she probably has no control over it
minty might be helpful! we’ve personally never tried eating something minty while dissociating, only spicy, but i can imagine it might work as well! -mina
