I always recommend adding in raw eggs. They're reasonably cheap, they up the protein content of kibble a little bit and if they're pastured they're a good source of Omega 3's. My grandmother always added a raw egg to her dog's meals every day and they were big dogs that lived into their 20's, which is unheard of today. (She fed them the whole egg, eggshell and all.) If you're concerned about pathogens, you can use pasteurized eggs, which are just a little bit denatured, but your dog can still gain most of the raw benefits from them. Or feed them as soft boiled eggs. But an egg is a superfood even when cooked. The eggshell membrane is a good source of glucosamine to help with joints. They're a good source of vitamin D. They have one of the most bioavailable proteins for dogs. Even the cheap brand of eggs can improve the quality of kibble. I've even used quail eggs for my little bitty dogs. I buy them through Etsy. They're a little more expensive then grocery store eggs, but they're still a major power boost to kibble and sized just right for tiny dogs. And I always recommend adding in canned pumpkin. It's a good source of fiber and can help reduce or prevent anal gland problems.

You know your eggs! When I can get my cats to eat egg, which is rarely, I poach them. Kills any bacteria in the white while keeping the yolk runny. My previous cat had a raw egg once a week her entire life, 15 years. The only website that says cats and dogs should not have eggs - Purina. Go figure! LOL

Eggs are another great topper and amazing fresh food option! Eggs are also one of the most bioavailable proteins too!

Very good video. My daughter has two, pit bull mix that are rescues. They eat kibble mixed with frozen raw. She adds warm water to the food. Lets it sit for 10 minutes before feeding. My two cats eat mostly fresh chicken thighs and raw ground beef. Some wet cat food that is low in calcium and phosphorus. Once a week, the cats get a tin of sardines, packed in water, no salt added. Lots of Omega 3s. Thank you for these videos.

My foster eats kibble and I can't change his food until I adopt him in another month. They told me he should get 1.5 cups in the morning and again in the afternoon. He would not touch his food in the mornings after I brought him home, and then barely eat anything in the afternoon feeding. So, I got chicken gizzards, cooked them, cut up the meat and mixed with the broth on his food. He loves it, but he still would not eat the recommended amount for his weight. I let him tell me when he's hungry, otherwise, it will sit and get soggy. This past week I started getting a high quality can of beef or lamb wet food, take about 1/6 can, warm it slightly, add enough water to make a gravy and mix that in his kibble. He LOVES it and now eats 1 cup kibble in the morning and 1 cup late afternoon mixed with a total of 1/3 can per day. That with the homemade organic peanut butter oat applbesauce treats, and human grade beef sticks... he is getting enough food. He is drinking plenty of water because he sure does pee a lot. He's picky, so I don't see him doing a raw diet. I have some amazing powdered organic mushroom extract I'd like to add to his diet like Lion's Mane and Cordyceps, but don't know how much to add for well being and lung support. No known health issues to date.

Do i use Nordic fish oil made for human consumption, or should i buy Nordic fish oil for pets? Dosage? When vet doctors talk about supplements and herbs for dogs, should i buy human products or products made for dogs, and where can i buy and dosage please. Thank you.

In reference to adding vegetables, I thought cats don’t have the enzymes to digest them? Can you confirm this?

How much water would you recommend adding in? For example, how much water should be added into 1 cup of dry dog food?

I would add enough to soak it so we're providing more moisture to the highly dry kibble diet. You can also use goat milk/kefir or bone broth too instead of water.
