@@danjambowmanHello mate quick question if you've got time my ankle is exactly like this woman's with reduced movement and my heel lifting when I bend my knee forward... It's been 10 years since the break and like your experience the physio I had was shit.. what's my options to get that little bit of movement back? Cheers
@danjambowman
@danjambowman Год назад
@@shademaker5847 Hello there - sorry to hear you obviously had a particularly bad break. To be fair, my range of motion in my bad ankle is not that far off my good ankle and it sounds like you have bigger issues than I do. In my case, I think calcification of the joint and all the the scar tissue created during the healing process is the issue and I don't think I can change that. I then got tendinopathy in both achilles as well as a bad knee and hip on the other side. For me, regular eccentric heel drops really helped my ankle and sorted out the tendinopathy. Spilt squats sorted out the knee and pilates sorted out the hips. I tried banded mobilisation of the ankle joint but that made it worse and I got pain and instability. I definitely always got better results from progressive overload over time. Some simple exercise that challenges all the tissues surrounding the joint that you can make progressively harder the stronger you get.

Hi.. i am from Nigeria. Thank you for the video.. am super glad to see this video hoping it will be helpful to me in time to come.. please i had an ankle injury on my right leg one month ago and the big bone (Tibia) came out of my flesh causing a big wound, while the small bone (fibula) got broken. But after the surgery the (fibula) have been fixed with some irons to keep it strong while it heals which was stitched with no visible wound but the (Tibia) was fixed back to it usual position and was stitched a little which closed only 10 percent of the wound leaving 90 percent of it opened. Because the doctor said is not good to stitch it all closed because the flesh that the bone popped out from was already dead before the surgery so he cut them off meaning i have to wait for the flesh to grow again.. please my QUESTION IS: can i do these exercise while the wound is still open and not yet totally healed or should i wait till the flesh wound is totally healed before i start this exercise? Please a Quick reply will be so HELPFUL 🙏. i am in need of the help. Thank you.

I had an open ankle fracture injury whilst playing soccer exsctly a year ago and I had an open reduction internal fixation on the ankle but range in my ankle is reduced, the ankle is partially stiff with some pains and the bones in the ankle click whenever I do foot rotation on my couch or bed and sometimes whilst standing as well which is annoying. Another issue is if I sat on a chair or slept on my bed for a long period, I need to do foot rotation before I get up as this will help me walk without pain. My doctor had advised I should not rush back to soccer as the injury can take up to 2 years to fully heal!. What do you suggest I do to solve the above mentioned issues as this is getting so frustrating?. Many thanks.
