Learn how to increase on a purl row in knitting - seven different methods for increasing purlwise. Sometimes it's necessary to work increases on a wrong-side row when you're knitting. Or, sometimes, you want to work an increase in a purl stitch. There are seven different ways you can work those increase stitches. Learn how to work all those increases and take a look at how they look on the Stockinette side of the work if you're working the increases on the wrong side of your knitting.

OMG thank you so much for this. I've only been knitting for a about 7 months or so and I came across a sock pattern that called for purl increases. I didn't even know that was a thing. I really appreciate you showing all the options and the results. Thank you!!

Thanks for the video! How do you make increase at the beggining and the end on a purl row?

If the pattern doesn't specify which increase to use, you can use whatever increase you want. For example, you could purl the first stitch of the row, work a make one left (purl version), work to the last stitch of the row, work a make one right (purl version), then purl the final stitch. If the garment is worked in pieces and will be seamed, I would probably move the increases in a few stitches from each edge so they don't interfere with seaming the final garment.
