This is by far the best video explanation I've seen so far about this. I have one question: What do you do if the app does not find your keypad ? Mine doesn't.

The keypad wasn't recognized when you were trying to install it? This has happened to me in a past test when I tried a used system. The keypad might reset after you take out the batteries. Can you set up the system with just the keypad or does the smoke and co detector and new motion sensor need to be setup through the app

Sure! You can set up the system with just a keypad or just sensors. DIY security like this can look different depending on what you're wanting to add. But all of it does need the app to connect to the system. Hope that helps!

Hey! Katie here 👋 The Cove review is still in the mix, but we've had to push our schedule back a little bit after I took some personal time. So I'm hoping to wrap up our SimpliSafe testing by end of next week then I'll be moving on to Cove early in August.

When the app ask you to choose a plan, you can choose the option at the very bottom that says "decline 30 free trial" who will give you the free service.

Is it possible to point the indoor camera out of a window, to monitor outdoor activity?

It is, but it probably won't be much help with the way this camera's designed. SimpliSafe has designated outdoor cameras that might be a better solution. This new camera's indoor-only and keeps its shutter closed unless the system is armed and triggered or you schedule it to open.
