This video shows how to step by step setup AHD CCTV Cameras with the use of a more durable means of power supply.
This video shows the use of a POE switch in place of the usual 12v dc power unit used in most Purely Analogue and AHD CCTV installations, which gives a longer lasting power source and a stable power for even longer cable distances.
Network cables have been connected to the POE Switch and the other side of the network cables have been fed into POE splitters.
The power side of the POE splitters are then fed into the AHD CCTV Cameras. This provides a very stable and very durable power to the CCTV camera Installation.

That's a great way also to use an IP RJ45 camera to connect to a Poe switch with more ports, and connect the dvr with the poe switch using cat 6 cable.

How about if the camera has RJ45 port, can we connect directly using splitter instead of coax to power the camera? Thanks

Cameras with the RJ 45 port can be connected directly using the POE Splitter if the camera is a non POE Camera. POE cameras will not require the, splitter, they can just be connected directly to the POE Switch. Please can you help me out I have a smart ptz Wi-Fi camera(non Poe) and a jovision Poe switch but the problem but the problem is the Poe switch can’t turn the cameras on when connected to the Poe switch with poe splitter. Please any help for me

Please check the required voltage for the Camera. Some of them are powered by 18v dc and if it is, it can't come on with a POE Switch. The POE Switch gives 12v dc which is not adequate to power up an 18v camera. I will be glad to know the camera details so i can as well do the checks.

I prefer the POE switch method because in my many years of installing CCTV Cameras, i have found out that the old type of power supply gets spoilt very often whiles the cameras themselves remain working. This is something i have seen on countless occasions and that made me to come out with this option. This option has proven to be the best even though it is a bit expensive.

It's very expensive but DC adapter of 5A 12volts power splitter can be used instead of this process.

Durability, Video output quality and Reliability are the focus of this video. I have mentioned in this video that the cost is high, but the benefits are un-comparable. The "DC adapter of 5A 12volts power splitter" cannot drive voltage along a cable up to a 100m without an ELECTRICAL NOISE seen in your camera videos. The POE switch could drive voltage along a cable up to a 100m without experiencing the electrical noise. Video quality will be compromised as a result of voltage drop when the adapter you mentioned is used and many more un-comparable advantages EXCEPT the initial cost.

You can only receive audio when your camera has microphone. Such cameras may come with Audio output cables to be connected into the DVR so you can listen to the sound

How durable can an adaptor be since a CCTV is a Security gadget that must be on 24/7? . I have seen several CCTV systems that am called to rectify problems on and most of the issues are power related. This has been a solution that has worked for me.

I feel it’s waste of money! Just use a power brick 12VDC/5A and run 2 core cable . Or just buy Video balon and 1 Ethernet cable for each camera.

Thanks for your opinion, nonetheless i have seen many of such power bridges get damaged very often even at standard load capacity and so this is an option i prescribed which i admitted is EXPENSIVE but DURABLE. The other options you stated have a different focus other than power. My focus on this video is power durability

@@Tech_Inside_Out bro, am using an aluminium grill box type SMPS 12VDC 10A. 2 Piece SMpS for 16 channel camera. And 1 piece 12VDC 2A power adaptor for the DVR and Router. Installed 5 or 6 years ago. Still ok good condition. I think your country side may have a lot of power fluctuations. In case that’s the problem, I will strongly recommend you , but a traditional 12V step down transformer and DC rectifier. That May won’t spoil due to power fluctuation.
