A gate is a special wire shape that traps the robot in an area. This can be advantageous if you want the robot to finish the area in one or two cycles or if the movements of the robot cause it to escape the area due to its shape or obstacles.

A gate is wire that is added to the installation to trap the robot. The wire will be placed a precise distance from itself so that the grass is trimmed between the two wires. Hi, many Ambrogio robot models use GPS to mow more efficiently; they require a perimeter wire. There are two models that don't use a perimeter wire and one that has no perimeter wire but has a guide wire so it can find the base. Two are for very small lawns, the other is for open fields and air strips. The sites might be wrong, or maybe they are using tricky, confusing language. Generally, robot mowers should be thought of more like a sprinkler system. Sprinkler systems keep lawns watered. Robot mowers keep lawns mowed. Sprinkler systems have wires... The obsession the public has with wireless robot mower systems is confusing. Major manufacturers have been pursuing it for six decades. I'm not holding my breath.

Those sites are wrong. If people are using AI to write articles, there will be all kinds of misinformation. All Twenty models require a perimeter wire. There are no guide wires so it is much simpler to install than brands that require guides, too. If it's an Elite model, it uses GPS to assist in mowing more efficiently. The dealer can set GPS Fast Return in the service menu after one week.

There are new Ambrogio models that use GPS + RTK and do not require a perimeter wire. They can only be used on open areas, though. The wire is optional for those models.
