In this video I do a "how to" installing an aluminum radiator in the boosted Miata. A large radiator is your best way to improve the heating capacity of your cooling system. The installation is pretty straight forward, drain the coolant, disconnect the hoses, remove the fans and pull the rad. Installation is the reverse.
Be sure to properly "burp" the cooling system by first filling the radiator with 50/50 mix coolant, then start the car, turn on the heater and watch the coolant level at the filler cap. Add distilled water as it goes down. I help the system "burp" by squeezing the upper and lower coolant hoses to work air bubbles out.
I run the engine hot, until the fan comes on, top off the radiator put the cap back on and make sure the overflow / expansion tank is full. Take the car for a spin then check your coolant in the overflow tank, add coolant if necessary.
I also head up to Thunderhill in Willows, CA to watch my brother race his super fast turbo Miata.
I hope you like my video and be sure to subscribe to see more awesome videos as I build my boosted Miata!
