Also only foreign cars 12v outlet (cigarette lighter) turns off when the cars off. If you wire the amp's ignition wire to the cigarette lighter on a domestic car your amp will never turn off. In that case it may be a better option to use the radio fuse located in the fuse box to wire the amp ignition wire to. He quickly mentioned this method in the video.

looking to hook up a sub amp in my trunk. Can I pull the speaker level signals off the speaker terminals of my rear deck speakers and run them to an LOC and then via RCA's to my amp? OR can I buy an amp that has speaker level inputs on it and use them and not need an LOC?

The lexus gs 300 whit navigation is is possible to install 2 amps do I catch the wire from the amp to hook up my loc or to i.have to.get hook up behind the radio. Plz help me out im lost on this car

Question, I have a 2007 g35 infinity full factory, however the factory amp does not work, which there is no sound, can I wire a aftermarket amp to it and it work or will I need to put another factory amp in than wite it up???

I've installed a few stereos in my day but I've never thought to twist the positive and negative wires together unless I was trying to make a connection between the two, except in my house when I'm wiring outlets seems to be the only place I ever used that method, nice little touch, it just makes sense lol seams like that'd help keeps things together and organized better. Nice job, good detail, your experience shows!

I've always hooked am amp to a aftermarket head unit. With the bass quality be different using this method compared to rca cables straight to a headunit?

Nobody answered this .iam gonna give the correct answer. For this armada if it has a factory subwoofer. Tap in to the wire that give the factory amp the bass signal before it get to factory bass amp . I have the pathfinder and it's similar. They usually has 2 amps .1 amp 4 channel under driver seat. Then 1 small bass amp in rear along with woofer factory plastic box. You wanna get the signal from there that's feeding that small bass amp . It will be 4 wires .2 wires provide signal .the other would be remote and ground. That's the way is on my pathfinder. But armada & pathfinder 08 are similar.

Hey jp, I wanted to make sure of a couple of things if you don't mind me asking. So you used rc splitter to get 2 signals from the loc because you have 2 amps right? One for the 4 speakers and one for the sub? Is that tight?

Are you using the remote start line coming from the cigarette lighter for both amps?

Yes so we installed 2 lock's and since the one I used for the rch amp doesnt have 2 sets of rca's on it I split them using the y splitters

Do you connect both LOC too the same speaker wire or do you use front speaker wire for one loc and rear speaker wire for the other loc.

Ive been wanting to do something like this, im confused bcuz if u cut the speaker wires from the factory harness and wire them to the speed wire and run it back to the amp. How is the factory head unit going to pick up the speaker signal if its no longer wired to it?

It picks up the signal by wiring in the rca converter. Wire your converter to the wires coming directly off your radio

Um, why not get an amp with speaker level inputs and just put that between the radio and speakers? Retain all factory functions that way too. Or am I wrong?

you could do that. but this way doesnt take away from any factory functions, just the audio

@@jptheinstallguy I guess it depends on the LOC you're using? If you don't input from all channels, then you lose fade right? I'm specifically looking for a good high level input amp just so I can avoid the LOC, and amp with a built in LOC or DSP would be even better, but man they are pricey, lol. Although it seems my Jeep doesn't have any bass roll-off or any processing done by the head unit, so straight up connecting to speaker level inputs is definitely the way to go for me. Just need someone to help the install, it's a pain, I'm doing components in front, coaxials in rear (Infinity Kappa) with a 10" sub (JL W3), all off a 1000W 5-channel Fosgate Mini Power series.

Typically subwoofers should be ran with rear speakers.

doesnt matter for real. as long as the speaker is full range or producing bass your good. ideally if there is a factory sub that would be best but in terms of front or rear its all fair game as long as it the frequencies are right
