i'm using the card sandisk extreme pro 20mb sdxc u3 class 10 - 128gb i also tested it with the lexar 1667X 250mb 128gb ....... neither of the two is giving rec
Ok. I'm confused, in both the raw video menu and the crop mood menu there is a setting for the AR (aspect ratio) and you're showing them set differently in your example here.
Hi I am using the sandisk extremepro 128gb. I get an error "early stop should have recorded a few more frames" every time I try to record with these settings. The card is brand new and I am really confused as to whats causing it.
I followed your instructions and everything works fine. Many thanks for that. I have just a small problem. The customization of the L/R arrows doesn't work. U/D arrows works well. Is there any special configuration in the Canon setup to overcome this problem? Many Thanks
@@UncleExplosion I found already how it works. When you rotate the main dial, you change the shutter speed. After clicking on the right arrow (exposure compensation), you can change the aperture value (rotating the main dial)
You can shoot regular videos and photos with ML installed, but its easier just to uninstall it for those tasks. I dont want to scare you, but without some knowledge and experience of shooting video with manual settings, ML is quite complex at the beginning.
@@hsmythi I've had ML and the Eos M for a few days now, and with my experience using manual video apps on my phone (Mcpro24fps) it didn't take me too long to find the right settings options. Another RU-vidr also showed me that you can return to the regular modes by pressing and holding the set button on startup, so that's good as well. My main issues now are export times and more noise in video than I expected
I followed step by step. I am using the same card you recommended. When I start recording, the symbol is not orange nor green. It’s red and comes up with a message. Recording automatically stopped and flushing frames. Unable to figure out why? Thanks
Sorry to hear about these problems. My first suggestion would be lowering the bit depth from 14bit to 12 or 10bit. This can really help a ton in getting stable recording. Hope this helps!
I had yesterday installed a very old nightly build 2018 from magic lantern website ...now how do I uninstall that from the camera and sd card to put this new crop mood...? or can I still stick to old one ?
hello, i have follow step by step every single seting and when I do the recording, the video is recorded like step by step... like its recording less FPS, dunno what im doing wrong. Could you give me a hand. And thanks for the video, its prety good.
I followed everything but I have a problem filming. It stops filming after 2 seconds. I also have the same SD card like yours. I tried changing the resolution to 3:3 and it worked. How could I use 5.2k without having the problem of the recording automatically stopping?
When you're recording in the 5.2K 1x3 mode, what bit depth do you have it set to? Try dropping it from 14 to 12 or 10bit and see if that helps. Another thought I had, crop mood is very sensitive to light, so even if most of your subject is exposed properly if there are highlights clipping anywhere in your image it can be enough to stop recording. If you can find someway to reduce any clipping highlights, whether with a variable ND filter, changing the aperture, or trying to remove them from the scene and see if that helps your record times. When I first started using crop mood I was having similar issues. Hope this helps!
I have the same issue. Scoured the internet but not much info on why this happens on EOS M. I followed as REEL says. Done this many times on different Sandisk Ex Oro 170 MB/sec. WHen I start recording it wont last 4 sec before "Automatically stopping...." I tested the card using Davinci Resolve Speed test. It shows 92.5 MB/sec and all fine up to 6K Videos (green ticked) but no luck. May be someone here had the same issue and advise me?
Hey! I followed the video and when I navigated to modules none of the ones I needed to turn on showed up I see that you were able to scroll down in modules it does not let me do that (I just downloaded it for the first time and it was danne most recent build) any advice? I’ve considered wiping the Sd card and starting a new build what do you think?
Hey man, quick question. When I export from the mlv app with cinedng uncompressed, it just shows up as single pictures after export... And won't pick up as a video file in divinci resolve. Any tips on this? Thanks
So with CDNG files they will export as a bunch of single pictures. When you go to bring those into DaVinci go to the media tab and navigate on the sidebar to the folder with the pictures. When you open the folder DaVinci should detect it as a CDNG file and automatically stitch it together and you should be able to drag it into your media pool as a video file. Hope that helps man!
hello! prehaps someone can help me, I tried to follow your tutorial but i'm missing a lot of the options on my menu. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Hello! What options are you missing? I would make sure you’re in the movie mode of the camera rather than the photo mode. Also, make sure you have all the modules i mentioned in the video enabled to make sure you’d have all the options for recording. Hope that helps!!
Hello I have a problem installing magic lantern in eos m , I installed it with no problems but it doesn’t show the raw video tab in camera settings, could you please help me??
Sorry you're having issues with that, that's frustrating. Did you enable to raw recording module in the modules tab? and crop mood? If you did and you're still having issues, I would uninstall ML and try a fresh install and see it that works.
Hi, thank you for this video. What do you mean by desqueezing in post when filming at 1x3? I am currently filming at 4.8k 1x3, but I don't desqueeze anything... Thanks.
You're welcome! Sorry about the confusion with the 1x3 modes. The desqueezing comment was meant in reference to the previous builds of ML using the 5KFRTP anamorphic mode.
If you don't have the firmware point on the menu to update the firmware on the camera, make sure you set your camera to photo mode. That should give you access to update firmware option in the menus. Hope this helps!
Hello! So sorry to bother. When I start recording it shows this message: Movie recording stopped automatically Flushing buffers... 9 frames left - and it counts down. I don't know what the problem is, maybe you can help. Thank you so much, and sorry to bother you again. Please Respond. (Sorry for the rudeness)
I would try and adjust the SD overclock option, making sure that it’s enabled and see if that helps. If you don’t have a SD with fast read and write speeds, that may be the reason you’re experiencing the stopped recording message. I would recommend using a Sandisk Extreme Pro card, they handle ML very well. If you’re using a different card you could adjust the SD overclock speed settings to one of the lower speeds and see if that helps. Hopefully this helps!
so mine doesnt let me change ISO or aperture. anyone have an idea why? its greyed out in menus and when i turn the camera on, it says "movie auto exposure" but i cant seem to change it.
Hello, does the L and R arrow work for you when you set it to change the aperture for the electronic lens? I have set custom buttons (Up and down for ISO, Left and right for aperture) the same way you did in this video. The up and down for ISO works perfectly but I can't seem to change the aperture with left and right buttons. How can I fix this? Great video by the way! I am learning a lot from you! EDIT: I figured it out! For those who have the same problem, all you need to do is press the right arrow and then scroll the round wheel to achieve changing aperture on an electronic lens! Again, great video!
here is my honest recommendation. if you are looking at installing magic lantern. If you want 10 bit video, save up for a better. Magic Lantern is way too overrated.
You're welcome! I'd love to help but I'm a bit confused by your question, are you trying to adjust the exposure by changing the ISO or are you asking about if using a manual lens how to enable the eos m to use it?
I have the same cuestion, i cannot change the ISO auto mode in MLV, 😅. I can change in the photo mode to manual but in video continue being auto. Thanks un advice !
Would you recommend using magic lantern no matter if I use raw video and so on? I am quite happy with the out of cam 1080p as it. Will the 1080p video with magic lantern better?
Excelent!!. But sadly After installation wich seems to work fine, and after exit the menu, I always go back to the canon’s original live view. Any idea?
Thanks! Sorry you’re having issues. If Magic Lantern said it installed, when you see the Canon OS menu, press the menu button a few times to cycle through the Canon menu and when you exit you should see the Magic Lantern OS view.
Beautiful! Thanks...only on ewant to say - in the old modes have - Anamorphic mode, and it is possible to Zoom IN there while recordning. In the new modes - cannot (
hi can you please help me? it seams that I am the only person with a shutter speed problem. it just shows N/A . and i can't change in the settings. My camera is in manual mode. i have a 700D but the settings are the same as eos m. please let me know if you have any sugestions
hi, thanks a lot for this tutorial, nobody else even explained how to get into the menu after installing lol! I have a problem however. i can only get about 43mb/s on the SD card. its a 140mb/s card, so the card should be fast enough. i tried multiple crop and resolution settings but it just doesnt really want to record in a usable resolution because tis capped at 43mb/s. i use a canon 650d and enabled all the SD overclocking like you said. absoluteley fine if yu also dont know what might cause this, but any help is appreciated :)
That's unfortunate to hear, what type of sd card are you working with? I used the sandisk extreme pro cards and I've never had issues with that. If you are using an extreme pro card, I'd recommend completely uninstalling ML and reinstalling it. Another possibility that I've heard with extreme pro cards is that there are fake cards that are sold online that don't actually give you the correct read and write speeds. You could unfortunately have one of those fake cards, which could explain ML not working properly. Hope this helps!
I would check that your SD card is fast enough for magic lantern. Also make sure your image is not overexposed. I use the sandisk extreme pro which works well for me. In terms of exposure I would recommend learning how to read the histogram since it can be really hard to tell your exposure on the small screen sometimes.
