Buying house and garden door I'm installing myself ! My late husband was a master carpenter ( we did alot of remodeling and building new homes , decks etc . We had our business 16 year's before he died unexpectedly ! I'm going to try and do this by myself hopefully he'll be smiling for me from heaven . Thanks for your video , without him I need to watch this for sure he Typically would be telling me what to do 😊

I have to remove and reinstall a glass sliding door and frame (out of square) these two videos really helped me. I particularly like how you occasionally add what to do in different circumstances or not having particular tools. Thanks.

Hahaha. That's going to me tomorrow. I broke my sliding door last night and now the wife wants me to just replace the whole thing with french doors. Going to be a learning experience.

I think the difference between garden doors and french doors is if you Qui Qui on them. But seriously, I've never seen french doors where only one door opens. Both of mine open and there's no center post.

Shannon can you make a video how you finish the inside of the door and the window I have seen the insulation video your talking about I'm still confused about how the trim is toning to be installed would really appreciate it when you get to that phase of your build if you can do a video thank you once again great work very informative and accurate and on a personal note very motivational to work on my home

Thanks for the video. Your door opened and closed fine but what if it had blinded? Would that be a sign that the casing wasn't completely level, plum, and square?

Since the shim is a wedge, isn't it only tight at the inside edge? Does screwing it in at the outer edge cause the frame to twist any?

@@okcitylive7953 You missed it. He did check underneath the threshold and it was solid across its base. He made the comment about watching out for channels, especially on all aluminum thresholds, and there were none present underneath this threshold

I only saw you drill some screws thru shims but not any "solid" nail/screws to secure the door frame...am I missing something here? just feel little bit curious.

The screws are all you need. If you want you could add nails through the outside brickmold.

Hi Shannon, I'm installing some double doors with no flange on the exterior side. What is your recommendation to seal the exterior? I don't think backing is a good option when dealing with water.Thanks!

I feel like I'm missing a piece of information on how you got the frame prepared for the Garden Doors. I watched your video about how to remove the sliding glass doors (very helpful btw) but I can't seem to find the video on applying this membrane you speak of and other preparations you made to prepare the door frame. Can you point me in the right direction as to which video to watch, please?

I had a set of those Milwaukee drills once, and I found them to be very disappointing, slow, power lacking. I thought I had a bad set, but I see yours is the same. I went to Dewalt XRP, a lot heavier because of the NiCad battery but can blast a 3" screw in way faster and the pack lasts for a very long time. I hear the new Milwaukee's are kickass though... but I guess pretty much anything new is superior to the older stuff.

When I shim I insert a shim from each side to press the frame out evenly? Is this just a thing for the camera or did you mess up?

I have bought new patio door and frame. Do you recommend taking doors out of the frame before installing it? Or install in one piece? Thanks!

Either way will work , I prefer to leave them in if I can man handle the extra weight.

They can reach the set screw from the outside as well on the hinge. Them having access to that- still seems like a security issue.

Do you have a video on a replacement on a old aluminum sliding door to a vinyl door? I have a aluminum door on Cedar siding was wondering how to cut the siding to get to the door fin.

I have patio door with 65 inch. I was told now they make 60 & 70 inch only. Is it true? If true, any body makes 65 inch width.

Videos are great, but how do you replace the sliding part of a double glazed sliding door, but keep other half as it is?

If you are wanting to keep the fixed side and replace the slider with a swinging door that is not a good idea.

The difference is that "level" is checked on the horizontal axis and "plumb" is checked in the vertical axis. Great question though!

Just can across your video. Why are the hinges on the outside ? I would have used a new frame and doors with in swing.

Tamper resistant hinges. No room to swing doors into this dinning room once there is furniture in it.
