How To Install SKSE For Skyrim & Mod Organizer 2

In this quick tips video I'll show you how to download and install SKSE for Skyrim and then how to set it up in Mod Organizer 2 so you can launch your game from inside MO2 using the SKSE launcher. Let's do this!

I installed Skse yesterday it worked 1 time and today it doesn't work at all when I launch it from MO2 it opens the Skse console and 2 seconds later it just dissapears with no error or anything

Preaching to the choir. I didn't use an ENB or SKSE or SKSE mod for the longest time because it seemed like such a headache. Same for DYNDOLOD. Now, it's like oh, that was it?

Whenever I click on open file after downloading the ae version because 1.6 is my game version, it takes me to downloads and downloads it again.

I followed these exact steps, but the game crashes once I hit new game. And there doesn't seem to be any save files. if I open skse manually, it detects my save files and it doesn't crash. I have no mods installed besides creation club content.

I did all of these steps but when I choose to run from Mod Organizer 2, it just flashes then nothing launches. Any ideas? Thanks!

hey man if you install SKSE like a mod in MO2 and then extract a copy of it to your root folder MO2 will automatically set it up for you as an executable you still need to run SKSE from the root folder first though it works the same way MO2 can detect the game launcher exe.

Hey Skyking, is there the possibility that we ever get a skyland AIO or at least and architecture and landscape mod in 2k. I have the 1k version and it’s my favorite texture overhaul.

Not for xbox. Everything on Xbox is 2k except the AIO. Everything else is 2k/1k. So you have individual mods or "a la carte": • Landscape • Whiterun • Solitude • Farmhouses • ETC... Then you have the AIO that has everything.

@@The-Skyking I’m running skyland on my pc mod list and I love it, you’ve done an amazing job. So are the architecture textures already 2k then? Also, another question, will you ever release 4K textures? Not that I could run it on my current rig but I’m just curious.

@@StagInTheBag All of that is answered on the description page. You have 2k and 1k option. Get whatever one you want. No 4k. Some textures are 4k. Some are 8k. Some are 512. Depends on what the texture is for so the textures look consistent throughout.

When i try opening the SKSE file from my browser, it opens in "files" instead of a separate program like it did in the video. Do i need to fix this issue? And if so, how? It makes it to where i cant move the files into the Skyrim files, and if i just copy the files into the Skyrim files and set it up with MO2 and try to run it, i get an error message saying the "SKyrim.exe cannot be found". Thanks anyway, this tutorial is really straightforward and easy to follow, I'm just having some issues.

Mine opened in 7z. Opening in files is the normal windows way. If you can see the individual files, just drag those over to the Skyrim folder. Beyond that, I'm not sure I understand the issue you're having.

When trying to do the part at 2:54 when clicking skse64 loader it doesn't start the game after following your steps. What might be the issue? I am running version Current Anniversary Edition build 2.2.5 (game version 1.6.1130) from their page for my version of skyrim 1.6.1130.0 after receiving buying the Skyrim Anniversary edition bundle.

@@The-Skyking its okay, I understand.... Im a new modder and Skyland was my first land overhaul mod I download perfect for my mid build PC! Btw I only downloaded Skyland AIO, does it mean I need to download the land overhaul as well? How are u able to mix both SMIM and Skyland bits and bobs in your load order? it conflicts on my mods.

@@tirsolouisegaccion4419 AIO is all in one. You don't need anything else except bits and bobs which is clutter. AIO is all the architectural textures and landscape. You do SMIM, AIO, Bits and Bobs in that order. No conflicts. Just mods overwriting each other. The lower in your load order, means they win over mods higher in your load order.

Does anyone know what should i do when i copy the skse64_2_02 to skyrim folder, this popped up, the file name you specified is not valid or too long. Specify a different file name.(this is the file name skse64_1_6_1170.dll), my options is either try again, skip or cancel, no other options for me, any suggestion? I am totally idiot to this mods thing, really need a lot of help here. Thanks

I uninstalled skyrim and reinstalled it. I followed this tutorial to reinstall SKSE and when I tried to run skyrim I get a pop up that says a DLL plugin has failed to load correctly. I’m sure I did something wrong, I’m doing this by the seat of my pants, but I’m not sure what I did. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Did you also post on Reddit? I was about to respond. I think maybe you have a version of SKSE for a version of Skyrim you don't have. So make sure you download the SKSE for your version of Skyrim. Also make sure any mods you have that have a DLL are for your version of Skyrim. Best thing to do, if you reinstalled Skyrim, is that maybe it installed the latest version and all your mods and SKSE are for your previous version. If so, go back and redownload your original version of Skyrim. Probably 1.5.97

That just means you have the latest update to Skyrim. Doesn't have to be AE. Get the 1.6.1179 SKSE file.

i'm afraid i've screwed something up because some of my mods aren't loading, only my enb stuff and some textures, i tried reinstalling skse but nothing changed :')

@@The-Skyking i ended up just uninstalling skyrim and was going to reinstall all the mods one by one but i haven't gotten around to it yet lol, but obviously that won't work for everyone if they have a save they wanna keep

You never said how to actually launch it in the game. Also, you just overwrote the Data folder from the developer. Shouldn't you make a backup of that folder in case there is a problem?

2:38 I explain how to set up SKSE in MO2 and launch the game from the launch drop down. When I dragged and dropped files into the source game folder, I overwrote my already existing SKSE files. Thats how it's designed to work. If you want, you can zip the included data folder and install that as it's own mod in mo2 and drop the rest in the game source folder. But do have to put the files there from the zip.

did everything u said, but when im ingame all mods are ignored. if i then quit and go back to MO2, all plugins are unchecked again. this is all bullshit and happens, if mods are dependent on frameworks and other middleware. an update here or there and it all goes to shit.

Its not an SKSE issue. You have the newest version of Skyrim and you have the Engine Fixes installed. You need to set that up to disable achievements. Double click SSE engine fixes in your mo2 and hit "text files" tab. About the 9th line down you'll see "EnableAchievementsWithMods" set that to false by typing false in where True is.
