Alpine KTP-445U: bit.ly/2nAIuVc
The Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack is a 4-channel amp that can be connected to nearly any stereo, including factory stereos, and then stashed behind the dash or in another small area. It's a straightforward upgrade that can really take your system to the next level.
Our expert shows you how to install the Power Pack in various situations in this video. We connect the speaker outputs of the Alpine amp to the factory speaker wire as a part of installing this amp with a factory radio using speaker level inputs. To connect this amp with an aftermarket radio (RCA connectors), the process is basically the same -- cut the factory wire, and connect outputs from the amp to the factory wires out to all the speakers.

I love this amp. I put this in my 2005 mustang gt years ago. 45 watts rms is more than enough To power your 4 speakers super loud with no distortion. This amp is about double power of any standard aftermarket head unit. Using this keeps my trunk clean. All I have is just one amp in the back powering the sub without having to run a bunch more wires to the back of the car to power 2 amps.
@Wingnut353
@Wingnut353 Год назад
@@joshymcdaniel9233 if you bothered to actually measure you'd fine that you have to get into the $700 head unit range before you get anything over 14W ... literally every head unit on the market regardless of what it says can only do about 12-14w per channel with 1% distortion... those 50W numbers are at 10% distortion which may even damage your speakers and will sound like trash. These amp packs acutally can put out 45-50W per channel...

Find something metal (not painted) and use a tapping screw to drill a hole then use a ring terminal (included) at the end of the ground to contact the metal , and fasten AND WALLAH! No engine noise

This amp doesn't seem to need a large power wire. I'm planning to run a 8 gauge down to the harness power wire. I'm wondering if you did the same. Also, will grounding the amp directly to the battery prevent noise since it gets a direct path to the supply?
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 5 лет назад
The power pack is made to work with most stock stereo power leads (minimum 15 amp circuit) which are commonly just 18-22 gauge so, it certainly does not require an 8 gauge run. Running 8 gauge won't hurt anything but it's certainly not necessary. If the stock system does not provide a quality ground connection at the stereo, you can ground to the vehicle chassis or all the way to the negative terminal on the battery. @Crutchfield, I'm using a factory HU and have an amp using high-level-input (tapped into rear left n right speakers) to power a 10" sub. Will the RCA pass-thru on my amp work to provide sound to the Alpine Power Pack? Or, does the RCA pass-thru only work when the amp's sound is coming from an RCA input? Is 1 pair of RCAs all I need to power the Alpine Powerpack? My idea is to use the Alpine Powerpack to give my rear aftermarket speakers more power, but also use the other 2 channels to add 2 6.5" speakers.

That’s a pretty great observation Thomas. I did cover how to connect the speaker outputs of the Alpine amp to the factory speaker wire as a part of installing this amp with a factory radio (speaker level inputs), but I did not make it clear that the process is basically the same thing (cut the factory wire, outputs from the amp go to the factory wires out to all the speakers) when using the Power Pack with an aftermarket radio (RCA inputs). @@crutchfield JR Thanks for the followup. The next question is regarding to new speakers and wiring as opposed to existing stock products. The question here is wire size, as the speakers supply lead wires that appear to be about 20-22 awg. The aftermarket speaker wire I have come across is 16-18 awg or larger speaker wire. Any drawbacks in splicing the 20-22 from the speaker to 16-18 awg for routing from the amp to speaker, then connecting directly to the speaker? The vehicle is a 81 Chevy c-10 Stepside pickup restoration - and if you have clarification regarding the orange/white wire listed for illumination purposes regarding what this wire splices to for power, it would be very helpful. Neither the Alpine nor the Pioneer DEH-X8800BHS radio instructions clarify the source - key or direct 12 volt, etc. Thanks in advance
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 4 года назад
I do not expect any issues to occur from connecting those two wire gauges to carry the output from this amp to the speakers. I've also looked at a few pictures we have of this dash and feel like you should be able to install the Alpine in it and may not even need to worry about extending the stock wiring to connect to this amp. The illumination wire is used to automatically dim the receiver's display when the headlights are turned on so it needs to be connected to something that become hot when the lights are on. I recommend consulting technical support for help with the install and to make sure you use the correct wire in the vehicle.
