You are absolutely correct. OD stands for "Outside diameter," and ID is for "Inside diameter." CPVC cement is usually orange and that's how you can tell the difference. Thanks for watching.

Depending on the particulars, a well can pay for itself, and the independence from: the expenditures to the city for using city water and adherence to city codes and sprinkling bans pertaining to systems on city water is a reward in itself. Where I live, there is no requirement for a Backlow Prevention Device on a well, and along with that, no yearly inspection/ rebuild fee, paying a certified professional to do it, and the hassle that goes with it. With some guts and physical ability, a home owner can dig their own well and save a large amount of moolah from the start. However, getting this part done correctly is essential, so an experienced advisor/ assistant would be practically required in my opinion. It requires complete attention to details and avoiding any temptations to cut corners to save time and money. I would not want to be in a big hurry or under some kind of deadline pressure. A well is nothing to wish one had done differently or a line of shoulda-coulda-woulda. I have decent neighbors who hired a company to drill a well along their property line and shared the cost between them. They worked it out with no issues coming between them. That's a real trick! What kind of person can pull this off? It helps that they aren't so committed to pushing through agenders that separate individuals based on politically-devised gimmicks based on old Marxist playbooks. People can get along and not make a shared experience of life on this planet more dificult than necessary. The recent generations have been misled and cheated by phony Communists and Nazis who sit in University/ Academic seats of bureaucratic power as well as all-too-often positions on city councils, etc. Democrats who are supposed to represent people in need of big cities(Baltimore, DC, Chicago, etc,) dive in head first to take for themselves, using Scumbags like the Clintons and Bidens as role models to steal, rape, kill, plunder, destroy on a massive scale. Like cancer, it becomes almost impossible to stop. When the protectors, such as the DOJ and FBI, are cancerous, how do you stop them? (Pricks like J Comey) Heros seem hard to find. Sorry, but w/o this problem solved, who gives a crap about dyi about sprinklers and wells?! It's how I make a living, but pur future is getting crapped all over by real Scumbags. They want us to forget about: The Afghanistan-Joe Biden Chicken-Shit Run-Away Embarrassment Of The Century, Fraudulent 2020 President Squatter, wrongful persecution of Capitol Building peaceful protestors, The Chinese Virus Panick-Demic and spin-off issues, the evil support for violent rioters throughout 2019 and since, wrongful disrespect and removal of support for the police, and the list of failures and evil-doings goes on w/o end!! They intend for us to forget. They intend for us to get it all wrong! They intend for us to be ignorant. They intend for us to be forced into their way of doing things because of their lawless handling of matters in the same fashion that Hitler handled his problems. The list, once more, goes on and on. We need to pray to God, humbly on our knees. We need to confess sins of commission and ommission and repent. We need to stand firm and fight. God bless America.

I am glad it helped you. Here, in Michigan, the thing that matters is the back pressure valve. They care about water contamination and what you do after that is on you. If you have a friend or a friend of a friend who has a license, and who would be willing to help you just to come out check all the work you had done, you could still save a lot of money, if you know what I mean ;)

@@Analyzer52 Not sure. The city inspector was mentioning something about the pressure ratings, but I can't remember what it was :)

Most people advise against it due to various reasons: you can get muddy water back in your home drinking water and most cities don't allow it without a back pressure valve anyway. Also, there will not be enough pressure and waterflow in your sprinkler system. Thanks for watching

Actually, I did replace the controller with the smart one from Rain Machine and that will cancel the watering depending on the weather.

I would say this is a project for someone with intermediate knowledge. However, I would practice a little bit with pipes and wires and become comfortable with connections and making sure there are no leaks, etc. I would spend $50 and get some fittings and pipes and connect them to your outside faucet, test it and play with it until you get some experience and until you feel OK with doing a larger project.

You should try renting a 35lb breaker hammer from Home Depot with the shovel bit, they’re only about $100/day but it will make trenching so much easier. We also have heavy clay soil in my area and we use one all the time, usually we can dig up the trenches for an entire sprinkler system in about a half a day with one of those

Yes, that is true. What was your water pressure and flow rate? Hunter has several pdfs to provide great documentation. Specifically, Residential Sprinkler System Design and Installation. In my case I have 40 psi to the house and, through their instructions, they determined my "working" pressure would be 30 psi. I did an "above ground" in ground system but can only support two MP3000 sprinklers per zone. I have a 5000 sq ft area that receives no shade. So for ppl, like you, that have done RU-vid vids I'm curious what pressure you started with. Very nice video btw!

@@waltcorey5115 Hello, Walt. The water pressure was 30psi and the water flow was 5 gallons per minute. The 1800 series rain bird sprinkler heads and the corresponding hunter brand sprinkler head version work great with 5-6 sprinklers per zone. My back yard is small (less than 1000 sq) and I didn't cover the whole area so I was able to get away with only 3 zones. For a 5000 sq lawn, you would probably need to draw a picture like I did in the video and try to figure it using the sprinkler head coverage measurement or calculate it using manufacturers formulas. Every set up is different but I think you would need around 12 zones with about 5-8 sprinklers each for a big yard like that. Thanks for watching.

@@NeverStopDIY Yes! Once again you are correct. Every town or city have property assessors. I suspect, at this point every municipality has something like axisgis, which is a geographic information system which shows aerial projection of each property, vegetation, contours etc. Likely, thanks to Google, one can superimpose an aerial photograph of their yard.. you can create a PDF of your property at whatever scale is appropriate. The one I'm looking at I set 1" equals 17'. I then set my compass width to 1" and drew the edges (90°) and and filled in the runs (180°) then can see where those not-covered areas are. It's nice having the superimposed photo as you can sight to landmarks in your yard. The down side of above ground is the massive number of hoses needed. Watching your video I got a very good sense of the physical exertion it took you. I'm, most likely, twice your age, it is impractical to think I could be successful by myself. But, again, that was an awesome video, very well done. TY.

Well, these tables for each sprinkler head are in catalogues (RB and Hunter). You just need to use right numbers (metric or that strange units). The problem I see right in your planning - every single sprinkler should have another in range and every single m2 (or sq ft) should be irrigated be 3 (triangle) or 4 (square) sprinklers. And the numbers from RB/Hunter are calculated for this exactly. So your idea of one full 360 sprinkler in the middle is wrong by design. Anyway optimal pressure is 2.1-2.4 bar with flow about 3.6m3/h (1 l/s). I have 4 bars from my pump, so I have to use pressure regulators and/or special sprinklers.
